Getting a full after two years... Advice!

Recommended Posts

Hello!

I had made a pervious post about how I got my band in 2013 and after only two fills lost my job and couldn't pay out of pocket anymore so I haven't had a fill since April 2014.

In the last two years I've gained and lost on my own but I have an appointment with my surgeon in Wednesday for my first fill. Unfortunately I am moving to a different state in 3 weeks but I was hoping to fill it passed what it was filled last time (7cc) and get it taken out of needed.

My tea question is I think my band is okay and the woman scheduling me didn't say anything when I made the appt but do I have to do anything special if it's been two years?

Also: I feel like I never lost much weight with the band, has anyone had to go over 7cc to find their green zone?

I really want this to work, and advice or experience of dearly appreciated. Thank you!

That is the wrong question to ask. The amount of saline in a band is unimportant. What matters is having the right amount so that the band is a good "partner" for weight-loss. Some people do well with no saline, others need the maximum their band will hold (and not all bands are the same size), while others are anywhere between.

I'm afraid I don't quite understand what you're asking for advice about. Since you haven't been to the surgery office in a long time, they probably will want you to have an esophagram; it is usually done yearly to be sure the band is in correct position and that there is no dilation.

You say you haven't lost much weight with the band. I have no comment on this because I have no way of knowing i your expectations are or were realistic or whether you made the best food choices and planned your meals well. (Obviously not knowing your starting weight and lowest weight and how long it took to reach the lowest gives me nothing to say. The same is true for the fact that I'm not a medical professional.) Losing one or two pounds a week is considered meeting the goal.

You'll want to locate a new surgery practice so you can proceed when you move.

Best wishes.

Thanks for replying. Essentially since I haven't had a fill in two years I decided to try weight loss naturally and lost 40lbs this year on my own and did not lose anything close to that when I was actively using the band. I have recently reached a plateau and I am hoping getting a fill tomorrow since I can now afford one, will help further weight loss. I only was up to 7 cc still feeling no restriction so I was asking what people's green zones were. Your reply seemed kind of condescending but I thank you for taking interest in my post.

Hi there,

I am some one who needed several fills to get the appropriate restriction (and I have had to have a smidge removed as well). It turned out that the incremental process was a good as I needed to address my habits, like eating too fast, etc. Good luck with all!

Sounds like your fill is today.....yay!

Good luck with your move. Hope you can find a doctor in your new location ASAP so you have some one to work with and just in case you need another fill or unfill. You will get there!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
