I was banded back in 2011 and lost over 100 pounds. Since then I have gained back about 30-40 ponds. I have the hardest time eating in the mornings and have to have liquids (coffee/water) before I can even begin to think about eating. I know I'm not eating the right things but I can't keep many fruits or veggies down. The last time I went to the surgeon for a check up I had a fill (over a year and a half ago). Since then I've had issues waking myself up at night coughing bile from time to time and the bile is always there in the morning. There are times when I can eat amounts that are far too much and then there are times I can't keep anything down. I haven't been back…

Hi I was banded in August 2016. I am still really pleased I had the procedure but motivation waxes and wanes as does the progress of my weight loss. I was hoping to have a semi-regular face to face meet up with some other people who have been banded. I'm trying to keep my band and behaviour at the forefront of my mind. I don't mind what we do for the meet up. coffee? A walk? Even a dinner? I live in Rowville but am happy to travel at least a few suburbs over. Please anyone who is even a little interested, contact me. Sent from my SM-G930F using the BariatricPal App

Hi everyone! I am having surgery on Feb 23 and I have decided that only my parents and my husband will know. I had previously booked a trip to Florida with friends that is now 3 weeks post open. Is there any way I could get the earing changes by them? Any ideas on what I could blame a special diet on? I live my friend but she and her husband have never struggled with their weight and will just never understand! Any advice will be appreciated Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G930A using the BariatricPal App

The other day - I went to the gas station bent over under the steering wheel to pull the floor lever to pop the gas door to fill up my car with gas and the most excruciating pain at the port happened- all I could do was suck in my breath and not breath for about a minute until the pain calmed down. I am almost 10 years out- so not sure if I flipped my band or just pulled it. It is still tender today a little. Has anyone else had pain like that? My doctor is over an hour away and I can't get in for a few days.

Have any of you December 2010 banders met your goal yet? I am almost there. I'm so excited. I was almost there about a year ago and had a problem with my band. They took the saline out and I have been struggling to lose every since. I am finally back to the weight I was 8 months ago. I have a 10 cc band and I am at 7.2 ccs. The restriction is great. I sure hope nothing goes wrong again.

Good morning all, I've been lurking these forums awhile, but just officially joined today. I'm seeking support, ideas, new information and a way to participate with other members. I was banded yesterday, January 27 at NYU by Dr. Schwack. I arrived by 7:30 AM, operated on by 9:30, released by 2:30 PM. I've been experiencing the typical post surgical pain: gas pains yesterday, today they has mostly subsided, but now I feel the stomach and surrounding muscles are sore. I find the liquid Vicodin is effective for 3 of the prescribed 4 hours. I've been able to drink water, cool coffee and the protein shakes. How long does the adominal soreness last, typically? I…

Hey everyone! It's been a long time since I been on here. I went back to my lap band dr. Yesterday cause I gained weight recently due to new medications I'm on for anxiety and depression. I haven't had a fill in almost 2 years cause my weight was staying the same. He gave me a fill yesterday and I don't feel hungry at all which is great but...I keep burping when I drink Water and I was waking up coughing last night. I am able to swallow my meds but my stomach feels weird and my back feels weird too like they are both hurting a little. Can my band be too tight? Any help will be appreciated thanks. My lapband was placed January 2016 so just over a year ago and I've lost 5 pounds. I easily have 80 more to lose and I'm feeling discouraged. I feel tightness in my chest when I eat but have a hard time feeling full or satisfied. I've had my band a little tighter than it is now, then got a defill cause I wasn't keeping much food down. I just feel discouraged... I thought this would be the answer for me. I do track my food but I'm more hungry than I expected to be (could just be emotional hunger) but I find it way too easy to eat sugar. Just wondering if anyone has had a slow start then found success? Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

People who can cook and bake I'm trying to come up with an idea of a way to make a Protein packed quick snack that I could use with the Protein powder. So what I'm trying to do is take the scoop of protein powder or the two scoops and try to get it into one bite size piece. Imagine brownie bite, Jello shot something that would only be a few bites but get me a large quantity of the protein powder. I'm thinking about making a very strong protein pancake with a full serving of protein in one pancake that I can eat fast. Something that I can get it all in one quick swallow and done with any ideas that can anybody come up with a concoction that's edible Sent from my XT1080…

Tomorrow is my big day...lap band surgery first thing tomorrow morning! I'm excited and nervous at the same time. I was able to lose 16 lbs pre-op. Started pre-op diet at 229, down to 213. My goal is to get to 140, however I'll take whatever the band gives me. Anyone else start with these stats? Where are you now? Are my goals realistic? How soon did you get to 60 lbs lost? Hi my name is Hayley just a little bit about me, I am a 34yr old mummy of 3, I work 7 on 7 off as an enrolled nurse and during my off period I am doing my Bachelor of Nursing so very busy. I had my gastric band put in 26th Feb 2015 so I am almost 2yrs through my weight loss journey and I have lost 48kgs during that period but now I am starting to notice that weight is slowly coming back. I've had my band for 13 years. Yes, I "throw up" almost regularly. Can't eat bread hardly, fruits, french fries, etc. I lost 50 pounds and 18 months ago had a tummy tuck. The placement of the port has cause me ALOT of pain the last 9 months! It is now trying to poke through. A stitch has come through and I've also lost another 25 pounds. I'm so happy where I am weight wise and only have 15 pounds to go! Now I'm talking with a surgeon about removal. I'M SCARED TO DEATH! I DON'T EVER WANT TO BACK TO BEING OBESE EVER AGAIN!!!! Not even overweight! I've only read posts of other people removing the devices and gaining a BUNCH of weight!!! I'm thinking of revisi…

I have ben banded for almost 9 years now with minimal success. I've flat out abused the band ever since the honeymoon was over. I'm really trying to get back and do things right. I ran into a video on how things are supposed to work. Not bad mouthing my surgeon, but I think this is info a patient needs to know. They may be doing a better job these days of explaining things IDK. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qa3Lwt6ElIs My question is fairly simple yet has 2 parts. 1- Has anyone ever recovered from a stretched out pouch? 2- Is there a way to shrink it back and restore the nerves at the top of the stomach? I lost my job shortly after my last doc visit in 2015. T…

Hi, I posted in the UK forum but that seems to be quite dead, so I'll try here as well. The last couple of years I have been getting horrible acid reflux at night and in the early morning, it is ruining my sleep. I have had my band totally un-filled / deflated, for the last 3 years or so (weight plateaued & the band was causing a lot of discomfort and yo-yo'ing with fills/unfills trying without success to find the "sweet spot" was too expensive). I get stuck on Water if I try to drink it in the middle of the night, I get stuck on my own spit. I have to go and make a cup of tea and drink that in the middle of the night, then after that I can have water and I swallo…

I've had two fills and have decided to hold off getting anymore fills unless needed. For me I want my band to act as a reminder which means I feel some restriction, but not strictly limited. We went out to dinner last night with a group (no one knows I had lapband surgery). I was able to eat a small portion of everything and have a glass of wine. I made smart choices and avoided the bread basket. I felt great throughout the meal. I was able to enjoy and control my portions. I got home and tracked my calories and was under 1800 for the day. It showed me I can eat out and stay in control. This is what I wanted the lapband for--a tool to help me gradually lose weight while s…

Good evening everyone. I was banded at 8:00am EST. Everything was manageable until about one hour ago. The pain from the gas almost seems unmanageable. I'm not trying to scare any newbies, but I'm at a loss of what I should do. It just won't go away and my pain medicine will not touch it because it's not from a nerve type pain. Help! Very scared and sad right now. Sarah

Also I have started having a funny cough about halfway through my meal or dink ? Hi all! I had the band over bypass December 29th. Wondering if there is anyone else that has gone through this process? I had it done because my in my original bypass my stoma was too large and have had dumping syndrome ever since. I thought it was something I just had to live with until I started seeing a different bariatric clinic. I had lost almost 100 pounds with the bypass and over the years regained 48 pounds. I just had the band put in and have recovered very fast and I feel like nothing is different than before. No pain and I was up walking 2 hours after surgery and felt fine just a little sore. I obviously haven't had any fills but wondering once i do,…

I had my second fill on 12/27. I have a 10 cc lap-band and I now have 5.5 cc in it. How do I know when I'm in the green spot / sweet spot? I actually feel pretty good after two adjustments, but my doctor scheduled me to come in at the end of the month (as I was leaving my second fill appointment). I eat a three ounce chicken thigh and a couple bites of veggies and I'm full. What does it feel like when you have the perfect amount of restriction, and approximately how much are you eating per meal? Thanks!

So I went thru true results to have made lapband done. I'm only 2 months post op and received an email that they are permanently closing but my surgeon will still be seeing me. I'm just nervous I won't be able to afford it. They offices are closed for the holidays but as soon as they reopen I'm calling to find out so I know what to expect and making one last fill appointment with True results before they shit their doors. Hello, I was so hungry when I got home from work that I started eating a chicken breast so fast that it got stuck going down. I tried to walk around to get it to move then I drank a few sips of water and then it all came up. My husband was really shaken and nervous . I told him I was alright. I won't eat anymore dry chicken breast. My surgery was 11/14/16 and I have my first fill 01/05/17. I'm still learning to eat slow and chew all my food completely. I had Lap-Band Surgery Nov. 2007. I was very successful the first two years. Went from 240 to 160 Lbs. Since then, lack of exercise, resuming bad habits, etc. I've regained almost all of it. I've tried getting back on the band-wagon, but have had very, very difficult fill procedures over the past 3 years. Due to scar tissue, it is very difficult (almost impossible) to get a fill. I have a 10cc band, and am currently filled to 7cc. I'm certain I cannot undergo another fill. Two had to be done through Fluro, needles break, takes approx 3 needles per attempt at fill, etc. My PA is the very best in the area renowned for his abilities to find ports & fill - I really do …

Hi guys, What do you wish you'd known or been able to find out in an easier manner before you had lap band surgery? I think I would have liked more easily accessible scientific data on the ranges of weight loss from the surgery and the complications of certain lifestyle habits (such as, if patients lose on average 50% of their excess weight, what does that average look like for non-smokers versus smokers?). Also, the fact that I have a bumpy bit under my skin where the port is - I didn't realise it would stick out! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Hi Everyone! I previously introduced myself on other logs, but I guess ideally this is the place where this should take place! So, a little about me! I am Sarah, 26 years old, and from upstate New York. I am having my surgery in Westchester County, near NYC, tomorrow 8/4! I am a nurse, currently working with individuals with developmental disabilities. I was previously and EMT, ER nurse, as well as a CNA back in the day. My last weigh in at the Doctor was 218. My highest when I was starting pre-op was 227. My all time high last year was 233. My goal weight is between 130-140. I am 5'3'', so I believe that is obtainable. I have no children, but I have a long term boyf…

I found out today that my esophagus has dilated so my lap band is useless and will need to be removed. I have had an ongoing battle - when I had it 8 years ago, I lost 100 lbs, then put 40 back on. I have yo-yo dieted ever since...filling, unfilling. I can't lose the weight now because of the dilation. I am horrified at the thought that I'm stuck here. My partner - who I wasn't with when I got my band - is furious that I would consider conversion and we had a huge fight tonight. I'm so fed up and so depressed. If I could lose my last 50 lbs on my own I would, but I'm useless at that. I just don't know what to do. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
