I am new to N.C. and I need a fill. I would pay $100.00 back in AZ, And I am being quoted $275 to $500 are there any fill centers? Anyone know of any nurses trained to do fills? Thanks

I was in CVS yesterday and heard a few kids talking about how they use Pedialyte after drinking to help with hangovers!! So many mornings I wished I’d known about that! Anyways, I was wondering if anyone here has drank it in their early post op liquids stages. I would imagine it’s good for us with all those electrolytes. Any thoughts?

Trying to get all my post op food ready, and I'm wondering what the best "commercial" broth is out there? Something about "eating" Swanson broth seems weird to me. And by commercial, I mean, I won't be making my own haha so one that I can buy.

I'd like to avoid or minimize the typical excess or flabby skin issue down the line. Im almost 2 weeks post op and I decided to hire a personal trainer to meet with once a week starting today to create a plan. I'm not sure if this is the way to do it but if anyone HAS avoided getting excess skin after weight loss or knows someone who has not gotten it or at least minimizes getting it...PLEASE REPLY.

Hi everyone, Just wondering how everyone's journey is going. I was banded October 2016 and have lost 50 pounds in the first 8 months but since June I have gained 5 pounds and can't seem to get back on track. I went for a fill 2 weeks ago, and comparing what and how much I'm eating to others with the band, I still feel I can eat too much. I have gone for so many fills and my band is running out of room. Not sure what I should do from here on out. I have slacked on the exercising but can't seem to find the motivation. My goal would be to lose another 25 pounds to hit my target of 150lbs. Anyway u hope everyone else is seeing the progress and change they've hoped for. Hav…

My mother is currently in a nursing home. The staff knows that I had weight-loss surgery. One of them came up to me and asked me why I just didn't lose the weight instead of having surgery. I had previously lost 87 pounds and kept it off for over two years until I allowed a french fry (lol) back into my life, and then the weight started coming back on. I gained all but 20 pounds of it back. The reason I had the surgery is because I want long-term success. I'm tired of the game. I know how to lose weight, but as my bariatric surgeon told me, you have been dieting with a BROKEN shovel. This band will help you do what you already know how to do by giving you a WORKING sho…

Had my surgery in 2008. Spent my winters in Arizona, starting the month after my procedure. Couldn't find a local doc to see me for a fill. Went to sanding twice, but my husband became I'll and I couldn't leave him and his oxygen wouldn't last the trip. So my weight loss was sporatic. Then I gained 25 lbs. This last year, I've been very good about my nutrition. Down from 225 to 184, in 9 months. Problem is, three weeks ago, I had a UTI, and became nauseous and started vomiting. It's still happening and I can't pin point the problem. My port is quite prominent recently. Could there be a problem with my band?

Haven't been here in a while...today out of the blue I get an e-mail from a member asking me questions (?) How (or why) they found me I don't have a clue. For you newbies, I was banded Jan 2011. Met my goal weight (100lbs down) in one year. Band did everything I had hoped it would. Suppressed appetite, cravings, limited portion sizes. blah blah blah. Because of this I was forced to develop a new lifestyle, new foods, new eating methods, throw in some exercise and presto...a new me. Got my life back. Now, every day is just like any other day...I don't worry all that much about what I eat or how much (thanks to the band) it all comes natural now. I'm not wor…

I had my surgery 7 years ago and it was very successful. I went from over 300 to 200. At some point I was having terrible heartburn and they had to take all my fluid out. I gained 50 pounds in 50 pounds in 4 months. Once I started getting fills I was able to get back down to 200. Last spring, I once again had to have the fluid removed for almost 6 months and again gained 50-60 pounds. I have my fluid again but this time I am not losing any weight. I am maintaining. I am as full as I can go as I am eating the appropriate amount and am not hungry and even now get periodic heartburn and certainly don't want to go back to no fluid and gain more weight and end up back …

Been a few years since I have been on these boards, but have just run into a pretty big problem. Got banded in 2012. Fills and weight loss went great. Seemed effortless for the first year and a half. Never really reached my goal weight but was at a weight that I was happy with and was only about 15 pounds from goal. Last fill was probably 3 year ago...?? I haven't had any major problems. Occasional stuck or close to stuck episodes but nothing that didn't resolve. Last year I was to the doctor twice for what was diagnosed as bronchitis. Was given meds and inhalers. Seemed to resolve. For about six months though I have been having increasing episodes of trouble …

Hello everyone, So lately my moods have been out of whack. I'm not sure if it's related to my lapband (I had it February 10th of this year) and I was recently talking to my boyfriend about the way I've been feeling lately (pain in chest, little vomiting). He completely disagrees with me having it and starts mentioning "that's why there's a gym, why couldn't you do it naturally" Honestly, that put me in the worst mood ever. I decided to do this surgery because nothing I did previously was working. Now I'm beginning to question myself, like what if there was something else I could have done... sorry, just venting [emoji53]

Hi! I am new to this forum and hoping to get some opinions from all of you. I am 44 years old and have an autoimmune thyroid disease called Hashimotos thyroiditis. I have a very hard time losing weight I can't seem to get under 200 lbs no matter what. I usually follow an autoimmune protocol diet which is very strict due to my disease. No diary, Beans, nuts, seeds, nightshades, grains, gluten processed foods of any kind. The list goes on! This is because my immune system is eating my thyroid and I have a host of other issues stemming from this disease including inflammation. I am seriously considering banding because I have grown tired of the weight loss failure. I current…

I keep hearing about depression post surgery. Are we talking clinical depression or the blues for a couple weeks? I have chronic fatigue/anxiety but don't typically suffer from depression. I'm on an ssri . I'm very concerned about this. It's going to be hard on my family without depression. I'm scared to get depressed.

Hi all, I've got my surgery booked for Tuesday, & my overwhelming feeling is excitement. I've wanted this for well over a year & I'm ready to be out the other side of the op now! So far, I've only been able to speak to one person who has had a lap band fitted, and they told me it was pointless and they were now heavier than when they started. I have so many questions, and there are naturally things I am worried/concerned about, I would sincerely appreciate having someone to speak to and guide me through the process. Or anybody else who is just starting this journey and wants a buddy! I'm 25, female, work full time and I'm from the UK. If anybody is willing to sp…

So I've had a very 'bruised' looking port site for a whole and assumed it was just that. A bruise. Yesterday, it opened up and now I can see my port and a yellow ***** (non stinky) goo came out. I am seeing my GP tomorrow and he will refer me back to my band surgeon. Just wondering if anyone else had had this and if so, how was it dealt with and what does it mean? Thanks.

Hi Everyone I'm on day 1 of my 14 day pre op diet and I'm already struggling (I am so hungry I feel sick and I'm already grumpy lol). My dietician said to have Optifast 3 times a day and add in a couple of cups of vegies. He did say Optislim would be ok too. I bought some optifast but its really expensive and not that nice. I'm just wondering if any of the others are any better? Any hints for getting through the next 2 weeks would be great too. Thanks Lisa

Hello Everyone, I am writing to you because I needed to get some advice. Last week I had my lap band removed due to some complications and thus decided to have it removed. I got my band 6 years ago and have lost 60lbs and was able to maintain it for four years. However, now that I have the band removed I have forgotten how life was before the band, which is a bit scary. Thankfully, since the removal I have lost weight, but I ams still nervous to eat too much because I may gain weight. With that said, my question is it possible to lost weight after the lapband removal, or is weight gain always going to happen? Sorry if this is all over the place. …

Hey, I did SO well for the first 4 ish years but I have gained almost all my weight back. I am just here seeing if any of you are still working with your band. I see a lot of people getting revisions to the sleeve and bypass but has anyone had luck getting a secondary or even dare I say, longterm weight loss with the band? Hope to hear from y'all soon!

I was having bad reflux and feeling like my food was getting stuck, sometimes felt like over night! On top of that I had been gaining weight from eating slider foods. Went to the doctor and he suggested taking out half my fluid until I'm asymptomatic and then going from there in a couple months. I'm 13 years banded. I have a 4cc band that now has .6cc fluid. For the first time in many many years I ate a salad! It was so delicious! I'm counting calories on my fitness pal and hope I can lose the 15lbs I had gained. Has this happened to anyone? Have you ever been so happy to eat your veggies again? I've eaten salad of just lettuce, tomato, onion and sometimes avocado.

Hello everyone! I had my lapband put in February 10, 2017 and I have lost close to 25 pounds and now I've completely stalled. I had a fill last month and I finally experienced lapband tightness. I could not get water down, let alone food. I had two visits worth of fluid taken out due to the tightness last month and now I'm able to eat a little more. It's been so frustrating because my weight has gone up to 203. I know I have to be patient and it'll fluctuate but this is so discouraging. I'm going in for a fill this Thursday and I'm ready to see if I can get it taken out completely or get a revision. I don't know what to do. I'm so confused at this point.

Hello I'm new to the forum and I am currently in the process of completing my prerequisites to get an approval from BCBS NY for VSG. I am 5'3" 31 years old and weigh 235 mostly bottom heavy (belly, legs, calves) and while that may not sound like a lot of weight it is especially considering my height. I'm starting to get anxiety as I haven't told anyone except my husband and a close relative because I think people will look at me crazy because I have somewhat of a curvy figure. My two biggest fears are that I will lose too much weight and it'll won't look natural and that I will have excess skin on lower body. My surgeon stated something like the elasticity in my skin wil…

I had my band done in 2011 and lost about 60 pounds over the first 2 years. Now I have gained back most of my weight , have pain in my stomach and back, along with acid reflux. After having all the Fluid removed and no help they finally did x-ray and my band has slipped. I'm scheduled to have my band removed next month 3/2017 since I'm having issues. I was thinking about getting the sleeve but a little worried since the band wasn't the greatest. Anyone had their bands removed? I have read about scar tissue and issues and I'm wondering!

Hi everyone im living in the Pickerington area. A support group is well needed on this side of town. Just wanted to get an idea if there is interest out there. i was banded in 2008. As you all know this is a lot of work with all the curves and road bumps life sends you. My doctor won't do a fill till he sees some weight loss. And I just had a total hysterectomy 7 weeks ago and the weight is creeping back up. I used to go to a weekly support group when I lived in Florida and it really helped me stay on track. so if anyone is interested let's try to get together regularly. laurie

Well hello everyone. I used to be a regular poster here, but grew bored and tired of the same topics so I took a leave of absence. I think I grew bored and tired because I wasn't having as much success as everyone else. I'm back and although I've been banded for 2 years, I feel I am just beginning. I was banded in May 2005 and had struggled to lose 35 lbs in my first year. I then became pregnant with my first child in Nov. 2006 - we had a boy born July 31, 2007. Through my pregnancy with the band I was able to enjoy it to the fullest and only gained 6 lbs which is what my son weighed at birth so essentially I lost my pregnancy weight with him. Without the band I know I…

Had my band put in 2008, went to the regular follow up in the months and years following the surgery, then stopped going for about 7 years now. All was good, was happy with my fill until about 3 weeks ago. My band apparently stopped working. I can eat like I did preband. I called my doctors office, went in for a visit and was told this is normal, I just need an adjustment. Has anyone else gone years with a band then all of a sudden, one day to the next it doesn't work anymore? The doctor added 1 additional CC to the band, but I still feel like I can eat anything. I have no heartburn or vomiting. The doctor will not add more than 1 CC per fill, per visit and will only do …

So this is hopefully my last walk of shame. Since True Results went out of business, I now have to get my fills done by the surgeon who performed my operation. That's really a good news/bad news thing because now I have to take off a 1/2 day to get to the appointments on time, Houston is big and it takes forever to get from one side of town to the other - that's the bad news. The good news is that he makes me more accountable for my actions or lack there of. He was disappointed in me and said "so, we're right back where we started...and that's not good" and proceeded to put me on a very strict diet: only drinks with 0 calories, no food for Breakfast - only a Protein …
