Today I saw a new lap band doctor as my old one has left and I can no longer see him. Upon describing how I can only eat 2 bites of food at a time, the new doctor agreed to take out some Fluid. I told him last year (October 2015) my old doctor had over 7ccs of fluid in my band. After struggling with the needle for 5 minutes, the new doc finally found my port, but told me there was only 4ccs in there?!? He did not seem concerned whatsoever and told me that no, fluid cannot leak out. He said something that sometimes you just can't get it all? Being a worry wart, I googled why my lapband would be missing fluid when I got home and every link said "leak" "leak" "leak". …

I am 10 days post op, and am now on smooth foods, I have lost 5kg already, up until now I have felt very restricted, however yesterday and today I am hungry and can eat much more, I'm still getting full on less than my pre-band diet, but I liked being really restricted. Is this change normal and just a sign of healing? Will Drs do first fills early if a patient feels ready? Thrilled not to be hungry! [emoji38]

Hey everyone! I love this app so much, it's really helped me and educated me beyond any research! One thing I haven't stumbled upon yet are "signs that tell you when you're full". I'm about to start my 2 week liquid diet and I was just curious some signs POST OP people have experienced - their body telling them they're full. I would appreciate everyone's feedback!

I had my lap bad surgery done back in 2012. I lost about 30 pounds and then worked a horrible shift and never could go back to get my fills. I only had 3cc in and had hardly no restrictions. Since then had a baby and went back in and she brought me up to a 5cc. I did that within 2 appointments. Anyways, my baby now is 15 months and I am just struggling with feeling like a failure because I still couldn't get my weight under control. So I called my bariatric coordinator and I asked him if he thought by me drinking protein shakes for 2 straight weeks would help get me on track. He said yes, absolutely. It helps with a lil weight loss, and would help get my mind back under …

I was banded in June 2015 (exactly 2 years today actually) about 3 days ago I started feeling pain while I was eating, I got a very sharp pain in my back and just thought maybe I had eaten too quickly as I had to go and regurge it back up, but it also felt like I had pain while food was passing through my band but it's happening when I drink as well? It's a very strange feeling like the band is moving? I've never felt nothing like it before, I'm just a bit worried that the band has slipped, has anyone ever had anything like this before? Even though I'm getting the pain while eating and drinking everything is still passing through as normal it just feels really stran…

I was banded March 2016. Lost at a good pace but for some reason hit a snag 5 months in and had to take some out. Battled throughout the winter with being too tight. March 2nd had ankle surgery and totally laid up for the last 3 plus months. I'm now active again but gained about 10 lbs. I'm looking for someone to help be accountable and maybe learn from each other along the way. Hope to hear from you soon!

I made it to onderland [emoji1373][emoji1437]but because I haven't been weighing regularly I don't know when it happened. I am beyond excited. Been over 16 years since I was in onderland. I am so grateful and thankful for this decision to make myself healthy and fit. My relationship with food is so much healthier now. I don't obsess about anything I consume. If I do eat a carb mainly as dessert I don't beat myself because I know I make good food choices 90 percent of the time. I am proud of myself and how far I have come. Just like everyone else I get my fair share of not so favorable days in life but I don't seek comfort from foods or alcohol like old me would have. It …

Hi everyone. I see people asking if getting a band for BMI 30-35 is drastic and I wanted to share my story. I am 25 years old. I started my lap band journey at 79kgs (174lbs) and I am 165cm tall (5"5) ... I went into my surgeons office as my Mum had successful banding 3 years ago and I have struggled with body image and depression for 4/5 years.. My weight fluctuated constantly but was at the heaviest I had ever been due to antidepressant medication. For those who haven't experienced the effects of this medication it causes significant carbohydrate cravings and also can slow the metabolism. So I was eating a lot of sugar and bread etc. I was exercising approx 3 times a …

Hi all, I'm having my band surgery tomorrow. I don't know how I feel at the moment, mostly a mixture of excitement and wondering what the hell i'm putting myself through. I really hope I end up being one of those people with minimal pain and discomfort after surgery. I've never been under anaesthetic before and I think that's making me the most nervous. Pre-surgery diet has gone well. I only had to do it for 7 days and only wanted to kill my husband twice! I'm 5 ft 2 and about 14 stone. I've lost 4 stone before but 2 stone crept back on in 2 years and I wanted this surgery before I end up back where I started (over 15 stone and for my height that's just not health…

Hello All, I had my lapband removed 10 days ago. Since the third day post op, my pain has worsened and my mobility is limited. I get a radiating pain that starts where the port used to be wrapping around to the left side of my back. I'm still experiencing low grade fevers and my abdomen itches intensely inside, swollen and painful. Is there a possibility I'm allergic to the sutures that we're used inside? It just doesn't feel normal for abdominal surgery to me. I've had my gallbladder out, hysterectomy, lapband installed, appendix removed, and none of those ever felt like this. Any suggestions?

Hello everyone! I hope you're all doing well. I had my lap band put in February 10, 2017 and I've only had 3 fills (third one being a week ago). I've noticed now that when I eat a few bites, I'm having a severe pain in my chest. I feel like I'm about to collapse, but after a few burps, it goes away. What can this be?? I had my gastric band in 2003 and have been very ill with all the symptoms of silicone toxicity but have been yet to be diagnosed with same. Lyme disease has also got all of the symptoms that I suffer except I wasn't bitten by a tick. Basically every system in my body has been affected from depression to cardiac symptoms but all tests come back normal. I've had MRI, PET Scan, Echocardiogram,ECG all normal. The only thing out of whack is my blood work. I have a CRP level that keeps rising for mo apparent reason, thus indicating inflammation in my body or infection but as I said tests are normal. Hello everyone! I did my lapband back in 2010..it took me almost 5 years but I have lost over a 100lb and was able to keep it off.,. I havnt had a fill is over 3 years... recently in the past year , I started putting weight back on ... and I have gained 15lb back... part of it is due to me starting a new full time pharmacist position... you just tend to grab the wrong things to eat... and of course not finding the time to go to the gym as I use too... so anyways im starting to freak out.. and unfortunately my doctor is no longer practicing I believe . Hi Everyone: it has been many years since I was active on this Board but I wanted to share some exciting news, especially for New York City area people. I had lapband surgery almost 8 years ago and I have written a show about both my life before as an Opera Singer, my surgery and my life since. It had its debut performance on May 15th to a sold out house so we have added a second performance on July 11th at Dixon Place in New York on the Lower East Side. I wanted to share the information in case of any interest here. This board was so important to me when I had my surgery that I wanted to come back and let you know. http://dixonplace.or…

I was 370 before the whole process. Right now as of Wed May 24, 2017. I'm still between 300 and 310 (ish) and I'm in the middle of getting revision to bypass surgery.

I was having horrible acid reflux and chest pains. Some days I can eat and some days I cant. The reflux is so bad it literally takes my breath away. I get extreme pain in my right ear then it moves to my teeth. Then it flows to my neck then my chest. My attacks can last up to an hour. I went to my doctor because i thought maybe my band had slipped. I did the xray and I drank the chalky liquid and it didn't flow through my band. It just sat on top. My doctor said that the band was collecting mucus and it was just sitting there. He noticed that my esophagus was in an "S" shape. He said the acid reflux has caused that. He sent the orders to my insurance company to have an E…

Hi, all. I was banded in February/14. I lost 50 pounds lickety-split (6 months) and then slowly started to struggle. I now am up twenty pounds and still struggling. I have had some band issues (over fill, de-fill, not enough fills, etc) and I really struggle with emotional eating still (stress, discouragement mainly). My naturopathic doctor thinks I'm not getting enough protein and fat to lose weight. Hmm. I certainly know what I'm doing wrong in terms of eating too much...I just wonder if I could actually be eating too little of the right things...and truly, I just need some support from some folks who may have been challenged in similar ways and have won the…

Since a few people started the topic of drinking alcohol after getting banded, I have a few quick general questions I thought a few people might have answers for. I just turned 30 and am looking into getting banded. * What are the rules regarding drinking alcohol after being banded? How soon after surgery can you drink? Is there a limit to which kinds of alcohol you can drink and/or how much you can drink? * Does alcohol affect you differently after you've been banded? * Are most people able to drink alcohol with the band? * Are there certain types of alcoholic beverages that give people with the band trouble? * After you gotten through the harder post surgery …

Once I was an active contributor to this site. But I haven't posted in several years because I was busy living my life. Last year I felt it was time to visit my surgeon Dr. Will Aguila,MD for a band check only to find he'd left the practice. I met the new doctor but wasn't impressed. Didn't get a fill. Hi, I made a post on the 18th, I saw my GP on the 19th and she prescribed me Lansoprazole - my symptoms were acid reflux that was keeping me up at night and nausea (GP felt my abdomen and she told me it was not erosion and extremely unlikely to be a slip). I took the Lansoprazole yesterday and this morning, but I am feeling worse. I was banded in 2009, I got in touch with the helpline of the Hospital Group who banded me, I've been told a nurse will call me some time today, but in the meantime I'm feeling unwell and worried. The Hospital Group woman I spoke to said the GP would not have been able to tell if it was a slip/erosion just from feeling, and that instead I need…

I was banded in 2008 at 433 pounds. For the first two years, the band was like magic, and I lost 200 pounds in 2 years very easily. The next 50 pounds came off much more slowly, with a lot more effort and several long plateaus. But I got down to 178 pounds which although still overweight, is not too bad on my 5'9" frame. My weight fluctuated a bit but always stayed below 200 pounds until about a year and a half ago. My acid reflux started getting really bad and even with prescription acid blockers was still causing me trouble every day. The band was no longer taking away that "head hunger" that was so magical in the first years after the band. My weight started cr…

Currently in the hospital and supposed to get my lap band removed. Extremely scared because I have had the lap band since 2008 I lost over 100 pounds but in the last year I have gained about 10 pounds give or take and kind of in a yo-yo way. I will gain 10 pounds I would lose 10 pounds I will gain 10 pounds I will lose 10 pounds and its kind of been like that on repeat for the past year. Apart from that for the past year I've had a lot of issues with heartburn and if I push too hard or strain too much I feel this sort of twisting on the inside. it's hard to describe and explain. So after like two CAT scans and ultrasounds and an x-ray I am being told my lap band…

Hi. I was banded in 2008. I went from 191 to 117 pounds and now I'm back up to about 160. I started having pain and my EGD showed a bad slip. My doc wants to remove the band and sleeve me. If you've had both, will you compare them for me? With my band, over the years, I got to where I could eat anything I wanted-even with good restriction (I was uncomfortable a lot). I assume I'd still be able to do that with the sleeve, though I hope I won't. When you're too full with the sleeve, does it feel as bad as with band (I hope so, to discourage)? I realize this must be a very common question on these forums, but I'd sure appreciate any input.

Surgeon predicts 60lbs weight loss in total for me,my surgery is scheduled for the 12th June and after reading the success stories of fellow losers(!),I'm wondering if I'll lose up to 40lbs in 2 months too. Or will it be less as I have less to lose in total? Also after how many days( circa)post surgery will I be able to leave my home ?
