So I'm now 6 weeks post op and am feeling fab! Just had first band fill, things are dropping off well! 48 pounds down! I intend to start working out this week as am concerned out the loose skin side of things. Considering trying a waist trainer to help tighten skin. Concerned that this will effect the band or cause problems. Any advice welcome. New to this. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

After a few years I'm back on here after being at what seems like my wits end. I had the surgery in October of 2013 and had gotten myself down to 279 (90 pounds lost). Since getting a new boss last year, planning a wedding, and getting married I have gotten back up to 310. I know the reasons why. I started eating Snacks after dinner again, drinking a lot more wine, and eating full plates of food. I cannot eat full plates in one sitting. I can take two bites and then am stuffed. Now, however, I wait it out until those two bites go down and eat two more, then two more, and so on. I need help. Advice. Anything. Stress eating help? I exercise 30 min/3x per week (cardio…

  5. stay the course.......continue what you are doing and it will happen...... if you are doing what your doctor/nutritionist says to do, then you are doing a good job stop reading/comparing your loss to someone else or because they had a different surgery than you...anyone on this wonderful earth lose weight the same way...one pound at a time..we must work off/burn more calories than we eat...that is how we lose weight...our WLS helps us eat less...UP to us to do the eating...DO NOT expect the WLS of your choice to do all the work kiddo..if you do, then you are in trouble already.. whether you like it or not, the first month or two or (three) if you are newly ban…

  7. Hey guys, For those that are maintaining their goal weight, what was the one thing that was key in your weight loss and maintenance? For me it was ditching the "white" stuff (sugar, wheat, bread, Pasta, rice, Cookies, artificial sugar, flour etc.) I thought it would be interesting to see if there are any similarities in our success strategies. Hi everyone, Got banded about nine weeks ago. I developed PCOS about four years ago and steadily gained seven pounds a year despite all frantic efforts - and finally lost my temper with my doctors and booked myself in for the band. Since then, everything's gone well. I've lost 15 pounds, my periods have gone back to normal, and it's coming off at a rate of a pound a week. I've had no fills and never vomited (I have a strong emetophobia so chew everything to sludge). I don't feel hungry or deprived, I just eat less than I used to because I physically can't eat anymore. This seems to be enough. I've been watching the weight just melt away with some pleasure. Reading a…

  9. I am scheduled for arthroscopy on my knee for April 27th to remove bone fragments from a fall I took a long time ago. Recovery is about 4-6 weeks and I will be on crutches for at least 7-10 days. I have been told I will need to spend a lot of time going up and down the halls at the hospital on my crutches for the three days I will be in the hospital and I am really worried about this. I have been trying to use them at home and I am in agony under my arms just trying to lug around all this weight and I give up after a few minutes. That's with being able to catch myself on both legs but after the surgery I won't be able to bear any weight at all on the one leg. At ho…

  13. Started by LapbandKAB,

Hi all. I'm 3 years in with the lapband. I've lost about 70 pounds. I wasted about 1.5 years during the process as Kaiser suddenly stopped letting me see the surgeon for any more follow-ups (Kaiser approved my lapband surgery and follow-on visits for about a year but once they got a bariatric Dr, they no longer allowed me to see my original surgeon outside Kaiser). The Kaiser Dr was never there and I always saw a physician assistant who was terrible in doing fills. Anyway, after months of no progress losing, I got fed up and decided to go back to the original surgeon and self-pay and, since then, I'm back in losing mode. I went for a fill in July but felt as though …

I'm recently back on the wagon after going for nearly 2 years with bad habits but in that time I gave up smoking, too. The two combined with a less than half-full band is a recipe for fatassism, which I developed over the course of 6 or 7 months. I've buckled down, gotten 2 fills and am losing weight again but I have a problem. Going that long without getting a fill, being loose and eating whatever I wanted has made me forget how to eat the right way and I've been having a lot of problems. I'm also taking a medication that seems to tighten the band, but tomorrow is my last day taking it so I won't go so far as to get an unfill. Unfortunately, I am very tight. The…

I am having surgery in 3 days. One of the things I worry about it meal planning and preparation for my family after banding. I think it will be harder to make sure I am providing food and meals for them, when I am eating differently and not feeling hungry as much. Now I mostly just plan my meals around what I am hungry for or traditional meals that my family always eats. Any tips for meal planning and grocery shopping for others post-banding?

Was wondering if anyone is from the Okanagan? I've had my band for 4 years now and haven't had any issues until the past 24 hours. Any time I eat ANYTHING I get severe pain in my stomach that radiates into my back, kind of felt the way I did when I had gall stones but I've had my gallbladder removed. Anyways wondering if anyone's experienced this? My lap and doctor is very far away from where I live. So wondering if maybe I should just go to the hospital or if anyone knows of any walk in doctors in Kelowna or Vernon BC that have experience with lap band as my GPA hasn't any clue about them. I feel awful after being so fit and healthy for 10 years and having it taken away. I have to wait 3 months for my conversion and my surgeon is not certain if I will have sleeve or bypass. I know that the lap band is a huge deal and very popular, mainly because I have...had one. I really wanted to share my story. Not to try to discourage one person, but to try to help gain a little more knowledge for those that are thinking about having this done and are looking into these forums for a little more answers than what our surgeons give us. Which, in the beginning, seems to be a lot of knowledge and a lot of information! It all seems too good to be true. In 2007, I made the decision to have a lap band. I…

Will try to make this short. I was banded (self paid) in March 2007, started at 235 and got to 174. Was at 174 for many years, wouldn't gain and wouldn't loosee, and I was ok with that, but my doc said I was a good candidate for a plication and it would go hand in hand with the band. So March 2013 I self paid for the plication. I felt like it did nothing as I continued to stay at 174, didn't loose anything. up till may 2016. This year, may of 2016 I started regurgitating at night an would wake up drowning in my own puke. 35. Now, having determined the generalities of this event, let's get to the subject at hand: for baby shower cards child. The organizer - which usually is the best friend of future honoree mom, although there are cases where it is her baby shower games mother, sister or even a bonus - will have to make first the guest list and then order the cards girl baby shower. Being the baby shower of a girl, the cards should be pink - although the cream is also acceptable, as to vary moderately - and of course with date, place and time of the baby shower in question. Also, the cards for baby shower girl must have some reason or allusive dibujito that child to be born. When carrying …

Banded May 2014, only lost around 65lbs. I've only had a couple stuck episodes but last week I had a bad one, brought on by a sip of soda and a bit of saltines I shouldn't have had. My body tried to throw up but couldn't three times. Ever since then had some mild night time heartburn which isn't bad but I notice it and is unusual for my body. Going in on Tuesday with all the fears of dilation or slip. The stress doesn't help my symptoms. I always have this vague sense of unease, bloat and a little burn. Hi, I've had my band for almost 4 years. I lost about 50 lbs total and I have gained back 30 of that. I got pregnant 6 months after my band and did fine throughout my pregnancy. I even breastfeed my son for a year afterward. I really think that breastfeeding boosted my weight loss. I had some problems and my band slipped and I have had nothing but trouble ever since. I go for a fill and its too much and i have to get it unfilled and gain weight. I'm seriously thinking about getting a revision to the sleeve. Any pointers? I feel like such a loser, but I so tired of being overweight. I feel like this is my best option. I really am at a point that I hate my band.

My surgeon did labs that came back neg for anything causing the diarrhea so he performed the surgery. I've gone to my dr. Who also ordered labs that also came back negative. I'm going back today because it's really annoying already. I've tried otc anti-diarrheal meds, tried eating things to bulk up but nothing holds. As soon as I eat or drink I'm on the toilet. Even when I don't consume anything I have to go and sometimes it's minutes apart. Any advice, suggestions, similar stories??? Anya
