Hi my name is Melissa. I'm new to the group and really need help and someone for suggestions. I had my band 2 years ago and lost 60 pounds in 5 months. I'm now down 75 pounds and have about another 30 to go. I exercise usually 5 to 6 days a week for 50 minutes a day but usually only get about 800 calories in with about 70 grams of Protein. How much carbs are you suspose to get? I went to a nutritionist but she more focused on my diebeties then my band and wants me to slow down on exercise and get between 1200 to 1300 calories, less protein and more carbs. Now I'm confused. I'm on med for diabetes, anixity, and bipolar mania. I have severe manic depression and episodes. Should I exercise so much or slow down some? (I do cize by Sean t and its extreme) please help with suggestions?

my name is melissa, also, wow, so sorry to hear your struggles... first i have been invovle with some nutrition classes...enough to know that if you are exercising alot, then your body is going to require alot of calories and if it isnt getting the calories it needs, then it can be counter productive....if it was me, i would switch over to more muscle building like weights and resistance work outs...my fitness specialist for my upcoming sleeve surgery, i will see what i can find out....be careful with your meds...i have been on antidepressants before...research on them has left me in shock...now i am reading a book titled "Side Effects A Prosecutor, a whistleblower & a best selling antidepressant on trial"... i use full spectrum lights (pet store used for lizards) and it helps with depression and high doses of Vitamin D.

Well, tomorrow I go in for an impromptu hiatal hernia repair after ending up in the ER over the weekend because I couldn't get food down and water was moving at a trickle... I've been having these symptoms on and off for a few weeks but Sunday was the worst by far and came with chest pain and trouble breathing. The ER PA thinks it is just esophagitis and that the surgeon and radiologist are wrong. But the bariatric surgeon swears it is a hernia, possibly a sliding one based on my symptoms. So he fit me into his schedule this week to repair it! I hope he's right and this sorts it out. He's going to do a scope afterwards to be sure there is nothing wrong with the esophagus. Here's hoping it all goes well!!

Having gall bladder surgery in a few days and I so hope the recovery is easier than the one from the modified DS! I could use a bit of luck/pep talk for a change. I'm starting to be able to walk around without experiencing dizziness, but it would be great if the random pain in my chest and abdomen would go away!!
