slim band and dna testing
I'm not sure what's with the DNA testing. I have a lap band and didn't have to have that done. I'm almost 5 years with the band so maybe that's something new or newer than when I got mine done Sent from my SM-G930W8 using the BariatricPal App

Suggestions - prefer vegetarian
Cottage cheese, Peanut Butter yogurt, milk, many veggies and many nuts are high in Protein. Yeah carbs are not our bariatric friend. Stay far away from them. In moderation is fine but if your already falling back to them it's best to clean them right out of the house. Make a menu for the week and go grocery shopping after a meal and stick to the list. This really helped me. Not sure what support you have but talk to your dietitian about portions and meal ideas. Also could join if you haven't yet the meals forum on here. Great ideas. Or even Google bariatric meals. There are thousands of great ones. Sent from my SM-G930W8 using the BariatricPal App

Having doubts before I'm even started
Trust me you got this. The worst part for both my husband and I was the pre-op liquid diet. I felt exactly the same as you. Thinking what the heck are we doing. But so so worth it. Once you actually have the surgery you will be very pleasantly surprised how little you want or can eat and feel satisfied. Not hungry and to loose weight is a great feeling. Don't give up and drink lots of Water it really does help. Sent from my SM-G930W8 using the BariatricPal App

Telling family/friends?
Exactly. I have also witnessed it first hand. My cousin had the sleeve and other family would talk about her in a negative way about getting it done. I would try to explain it to them how it works but they never wanted to listen. I feel bad for her knowing we did also and she doesn't know but we have enough stress in life and don't need to add more. If you choose later on that's fine too. I did tell a close friend later on. Best of luck to you. Sent from my SM-G930W8 using the BariatricPal App

Telling family/friends?
Personally if your not comfortable telling them then don't. My husband and I both got lap bands 5 years ago and the only ones who know are immediate family. I felt that they would say it's the easy was out. With out them actually knowing it's just a tool and we are actually doing the work. I felt the same as you and we choose not to say anything. Need help/advice
I'm thinking a little fill would be a good idea. If I was you that's what I would do. Also go back to the basics of eating. You have reached your band level and need a fill. Once you stop loosing and start eating more it's a sign for a fill. Also the apt in it self is a good boost to get back on track. You can do it. You already have you just need a little boost. I found doing a menu really helped and sticking to the grocery list. Planning meals is a big part of it. Your stronger than you think. Sent from my SM-G930W8 using the BariatricPal App

How do you handle spicy foods with the band?
I'm 4 years 9 month with a band and live hot spicy foods. I haven't ever had an issue once I got to the full solids stage. Sent from my SM-G930W8 using the BariatricPal App

Lap band
Opps hit send by accident. I meant very effective if used correctly. I have a lap band as well as my husband. We have both been very successful. Do not be discouraged. My two good friends and a cousin all had the sleeve two are failing the sleeve. Gaining back weight now. I and my husband have had the band almost 5 years. Glad I choose this option for the reason of its adjustability. Sent from my SM-G930W8 using the BariatricPal App

Loss of restriction
- My Fitness Pal ~ 5 week mark
- How Is Everyone Doing Now That Its 6Months Post-Op
how is everyone doing now that it's been over 6 months. I'm doing well I'm down 67lbs. My goal is 100 down by march 2nd which will be my 1yr mark. Works out to 1.6lbs a week I have to lose. Weight loss has slowed since the beginning but I was told this would happen. It seemed easy at first with little effort but now its more work. I don't say I have any regrets other than I wish it was covered, but glad I got it done. I struggle sometimes on what to eat I seem to eat the same dozen meals all the time. Looking into seeing a dietition hoping they can help expand my menu or edit it at least. I still need to work on the chew, chew, chew. Lol also eating more and eating first my Protein. Well that's about it in short form hope to hear from ya all soon.- Great Expectations
Best one yet Jean I love it.- Confused
I eat 4 oz of protein and the rest veggies to make up to a cup of total food. Water like mentioned above it the best, but crystal light is good too. Skim or 1% milk to get some calcium is also good. Best of luck to you
