  4. Hello there!! It's been a while since I've been on the boards. I was banded over 3 years ago and lost over 70 lbs. After my divorce I decided what the heck......lets take 1 cc out and eat!! Well, helllooo, I ate and gained 50 lbs back in 10 months. I'm proud to say that I have lost that since last November. So I'm on the big push now to lose about 40-45 more lbs for the final push. Life is good and I am super happy. I LOVE MY BAND! IT HAS BEEN THERE FOR ME THROUGH THICK AND THIN...NO PUN INTENDED! I've learned how to eat small meals throughout the day to stay full and not hungry. Yes, I still know how to eat around the poor thing...but I am all the wiser having done the silly things like eat ice cream and all those yummy soft foods we love to eat to see...well if...we can do it! And yes, we do gain weight! Don't you just hate when you gain weight drinking....well.......blended coffees...helllo!! Nice to meet all of you.....Glad to be back!!:smile2:
  5. Hi, My name is Julie and I'm an alcoholic in recovery. I was banded 3 years ago June. When I got sober in January I had some fill taken out. I have gained 30 lbs. The folks I have talked to in AA say that is quite common as we intake more sugar. I was sober 4 months and in May relapsed. It's been a struggle and I keep going in and out of the rooms of AA hoping to finally get it. Can you please share your story of recovery with me. I know cross-addiction is very common and when we don't have food to comfort us we can sometimes go into other areas of addiction. I don't want those people to answer me like "get a f* clue don't drink". I live in a world that is filled with both joy and isolation at the same time. AA friends always welcome me back no matter what. I would love to hear more from you...God Bless.
  6. Thank you all for your support. I am going to call my surgeon today and get in for a fill. Come hell or high water I will pay for it. When I lose I usually lose 1-2 lbs per week when I'm at the right level....so I am hoping to lose the 30 lbs in the next 4-6 months. Funny, when I look at those 14s with my cute little embleshed butterflies and things I just OMG....I was so skinny! Why are we so hard on ourselves when we don't think we are thin enough! Thanks girls....glad to be back. Love you all. Still love the band!
  7. I was at a size 14/16 but I didn't have the money for fills anymore $200. I have gained 30 lbs and I am up 1 size, sometimes 2 depending on what I wear. I am calling my surgeon next week to see if I can get a fill. OMG, I am so scared. I was 320 when I started this adventure, 30 lbs on my own and over 70 on lapband. I was pretty satisfied with over 70 lbs lost and a size 14/16 at 5'8 1/4. I did get sick of BPing but because I don't do a lot of working out I was satisfied. Can someone give me some insight as to how they got back on track please. I feel so discouraged really. But they say you can gain 20% back...so I am at 40%. It's okay...I just need to get with the program. Of course, getting a large iced coffee at McDonalds didn't help...they don't use non fat milk and it goes down so nicely with the band. I look at my 14s now and say OMG, I was so skinny. I know I can lose the 30 lbs but it will take me a year. Please help!
  8. Thanks everyone. I am 42 on 5/28. If I do have another child it most likely will be between 44-45 as that is the timeline we have. I have had 2 great pregnancies, 17 and 8 years old now. I would have to have a tubal ligation reversal however they san it is up to 90% success rate to get pregnant. My main concern would be birth defects. Thanks again.
  9. I am considering another child at 44-45 and I am really scared of birth defects. Has anyone gotten pregnant at that age?
  10. I have been banded 3 years. I am considering a tubal ligation revision to have a baby. It would put me roughly at 44 to get pregnant. Has anyone had a successful pregnancy at that age? I am so concerned of down syndrome and other defects.
  11. If there is anyone out there that is bi polar can you PM me. I am in need of support right now. Thank you.
  12. I went to the attorney yesterday. If I stay in the house I have to pay him $1400 a month in alimony. If I lose the house it will be $750 a month. So I don't know what is going to happen now. I talk to my tax man tomorrow.
  13. Thanks Ghost. I am a little worried on the upkeep of the house as the pool and yard are a bit too much to handle. I know God will take care of us if we decide not to stay here.
  14. Just wanted to update everyone. My husband and I are filing for divorce tomorrow. So far we are amiccable. He is suppose to find out about a new job tomorrow so we can get him into an apartment right away. I don't mind if it takes him a few months. Julie
  15. I was a drinker before surgery and I had no problems. You should be okay.
  16. Suann, thank you for the post. I am an alcoholic too and have battled my demons for about 5 years. I am sober now, thank God. My brother is still out and drinking. He goes sober for like a month then goes back out. Hopefully he will give his ego to God and seek help. He doesn't believe in AA, says all they do is talk about drinking. I go to AA at least 1-2 times a day and it has really helped me. My life is in God's hands and one day I hope my brother finds the same. Thanks again and I am sorry for the loss of your sister.
  17. Hi everyone, just wanted to give you an update. I am meeting with my attorney on 9/15 to file for divorce. I picked up the packet today to prepare. My husband is still unemployed which does not help the situation. The court will order him to find a job within 60-90 days I believe so we shall see. He has no money to move out so this is a tricky one for me. We are still sleeping in the same bed. I've had to use some Tylenol PM to help me sleep otherwise I can't sleep at all. I am really hoping he'll be man enough to move into my son's room and have my son sleep with me. I am focused on my sobriety, lapband, my new friends I've been meeting, my weight loss, my finances and trying to keep the house payments going. My oldest son has come to terms with it so that is good. He said he doesn't know the man who raised him anymore. I am going to get my youngest son into some counseling because he is taking it the hardest. Please pray for me and my family. This next 6 to 9 months will not be easy. Julie P.S. I am brave and strong.
  18. Girfriend, I will call you this week. I am doing fantastic. I feel like everyrhing is coming together nicely. I took the kids to a great little church yesterday and spent the entire day (just me) down in Capitola beach, had dinner. It was really nice. I am planning my future without Paul. I meet with the attorney on 9/15.
