I hate it. And I don't mean "hehehe - I don't wanna go to the gym" I mean: I.Hate.It. The only way I like it is when I "fool" myself by going bowling or skating....but I am 41 years old have no business going to open-skate with the 10 year olds. Any ideas? Magic wands?

I'm looking into training plans for a marathon that's in March. A little background- I used the Couch to 5K/10K training app, but after that I stuck to my method of running 7 miles on Tuesdays/Thursdays and then a long run on Saturdays. I would increase the mileage of my long runs no more than 2 miles per week. I always take at least one day off in between my runs. I have never ran back to back to due my almost irrational fear that I will injure myself. My longest run is 20 miles, but it's been awhile. I started looking at training programs. I checked out Hal Higdon's intermediate marathon plan. I'm not worried about the mileage, but I am concerned about running b…

So .. I am 3 weeks post op (almost). My 14 yr old borrowed Just Dance 3 from a friend of mine. She talked me into doing some with her. We did 5 dances before I had to stop. About a half hour for me because I took small breaks to breathe between. I hate exercise.. or thought I did. I had a blast. We danced and giggled. She is going to dance with me every night for exercise. I didnt think I would have that much fun but I did. I know it was working because I was sweating like crazy. Maybe all I needed to do was find something fun. I think I can do this now. We need to find more fun stuff to do. On a funny little note.. I kicked her butt 4 out of 5 dances! lol. I had to…

Hey guys, In need of some suggestions. My total caloric intake is between 800-900 cals/day. I have a rigorous workout schedule four nights/week. Monday & Tuesday: Cycling Wednesday & Thursday: Zumba. I aso walk the days I don't do my classes just to slow it down a bit. I burn at least 600 calories in each workout class because I am moving at a fast pace. That is what my fitness pal says anyway. Does anyone see a problem with by the end of the day having burned more calories than taken in? Or even taken in only 100 calories/day due to my rigid workout schedule? I need some feedback, I don't see my dietician for two weeks! Thanks! Xo Alexa

I hear people on here complaining about gym cost, the funny part is I guarantee you used to eat out and spend as much for one meal as it cost to join a gym for a month plus how much are you saving by eating less? So stop complaining and GET-R-DONE!!! We all got this way for a reason!!!

For those needing to get electrolytes after a hard workout, race or just from sleeve related dehydration, pedialyte is a good alternative to Gatorade at 10 calories/8 oz. It can be found at most stores that carry vitamins and minerals.

Just wanted to share that this morning I went to the gym n decided to do the elliptical for only 15 min. since I was early to my class. To my surprise I burned almost 150 calories n did 1 mile. Of course this varies by weight but I was happy to have burned those calories vs. Sitting my but in my car waiting for class to start!

  17. Moves is a free iPhone app that automatically tracks your steps every day, whether you are walking, running or biking. You just have it running in the background and it updates throughout the day. It does a lot of the things the big boys do without having to carry around an extra piece of equipment. I've noticed some extra drain on the battery, but honestly not enough to be worried about. https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/moves/id509204969?mt=8

  18. so its basic knowledge that 600-800 calories a day is NOT enough to sustain basic functions when you are exerting that much energy... I started StrongLifts a couple of weeks ago... Im NOT increasing weights after every workout as instructed though, only increasing once a week....so for now Im OK and should be OK for a few weeks... HOWEVER, by the end of February I dont know what Im going to do... Im obviously going to need more than 800 calories a day to be able to fuel my everyday life plus workouts HOWEVER at this point I still have 70 pounds to lose... my ultimate goal is do to 2 triathlons in late Spring... I dont get into all of that TDEE, BMR stuff.... but I am c…

Plan to stick with it and my 2013 goal is to run a 5k with my daughters, who are both competitive runners and run track. Used to run a lot before a broken foot and a ton of weight gain stopped me. Can't wait for the first race some time in future...wish me luck!

I am getting into the swing of things and at home while I exercise, I usually do it barefoot. I've read some say it's ok, while other's say it can cause stress on your ankles etc. ( from other sites ). I want every bit of help that will contribute to my success! Thanks in advance!

I've started working out at the gym. I wear a heart rate monitor so I know how many calories I burn. I also use myfitnesspal to monitor my food intake. If I eat 800 calories in a day and burn 500 during a workout, is that going to be a problem? 300 calories net seems too small of a #. I'm not sure though. I'll see my doc on Feb 1 for my 2nd fill. I'll ask him then but just thought I'd throw it out there to you guys. Thoughts? Also I am 6 weeks postop

I want to participate in this ride, this fall. http://www.skinnytireevents.com/page.cfm?pageid=20063 To do it, I am going to have to train like crazy, starting with a spin class 3 times a week. My problem is I don't know what I will be capable of with the reduced calorie intake from being banded. Now, I know I will be able to do this next year, if not this. BUT I do not want to set myself up for failure on a goal that is unobtainable. So, does anyone have any experience being newly banded and training for an extreme sporting event? BTW, the Dr. doesn't have any objections from a surgical standpoint.

I just wanted to share my love for spinning classes and see if anyone else here is also a fan?! I was sleeved on November 19th 2012 and just recently got my fitness and exercise regimen going! I go to spinning classes about 3 times a week at the gym I joined and I LOVE THEM. I come out exhausted, drenched in sweat, and feeling SO ACCOMPLISHED! I love the music and the fun during the classes, we even have special days when a live DJ spins music during classes! I've lost about 70 pounds since I started my pre-op diet November 4th, 2012. Highest weight was 296 and current weight 226. Goal weight- 150, I'm hoping spinning helps me meet that goal!!!!

Yesterday, I got up at 6, taught all day from 9-4 ( I teach nursing), went to the gym and climbed the treadmill at 15% for a 1/2 hr, went home, showered , got dressed up (a great benefit of weight loss, cute clothes and sexy shoes!), went to dinner with my hubby. Then a few hours of karaoke at a local back, then downtown to dance until 2 am . Full of energy to do all that. That (one reason) why I exercise! (Sorry for the blurry bathroom mirror pic!)
