I am 6 weeks out and I started riding bikes, doing zumba and just dance. However, when i am finished I am VERY VERY thursty and I can not seem to get enough water! Its like I can not get it fast enough. I drink a some and most times i want to chug but we all know we can not do that! After I do exercise I feel really bad (like I am going to pass out) until i get enough water but it takes like an hour or so. Anyone else have that problem?

I really like the weight loss goal driven threads so let us make a runner's / walker's goal thread that is ongoing until st Patricks day. It does not matter where you are at in your WLS journey. You might be 1 week out or you might be two years out. Think of a goal you want to accomplish in 3 months time and write your progress here as often as you like. For example, I want to run a 10 k in 45 minutes by st Patricks day. By that time, I will be 8 months out. 12-5-2012: 5k in 30 minutes Today: 7 k in 50 minutes ( had to take short 3 minutes fast walks after 30 minutes every 10 min of running 5.8 mph) Goal: 10 k in 45 minutes It will be fun and also keep folks foc…

I had to share this link with the bandster community: http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-srv/special/health/workout-at-work/ I have done 2 reps of this already today and have it printed to keep at my desk. I have a 6 year old daughter, work full time at a desk job and struggle in a large city with lots of traffic to get to the gym. I am so excited about having this little workout. I broke a sweat but wasn't so sweaty I couldn't cool down :-) Enjoy!

I'm a very busy person working 40 hrs a week, part time school, with a family of six. I also go to the gym about 5 days a week but don't always have time to get strength training in. Does any one know of good modern strength training short videos. I wake up at 3:30 am to get ready for work to b at work at 5:15. I feel bad taking so much time away from my family so I'm looking for suggestions on videos so I can wake up at 3 to do some strength training 2-3 Times a week. I have something called on demand at home that has free videos but not sure what to pick...there's so many choices. Thanks

I just invested in the Fitbit One. I was going to wait for the Fitbit Flex to come out next month until I read that it doesn't count stairs. I bought my Fitbit One from HSN. They had the best deal... comes with an armband to keep your Fitbit in while you sleep. HSN also had free shipping and four month flex pay. The Fitbit itself, is teenie tiny. You can clip it to your waste band or for ladies, inside your bra and no one will notice that you are wearing it. The Fitbit Flex would be obvious because you would be wearing it on your wrist. This product really encourages you to add more steps & stairs to your day! I also have the Aria scale, which is awesome.…

After surgery, and was it aerobic, resistance, or both? My paperwork says at the 2 month mark I can exercise, but I do NOT like floppy fat. I feel so much better about my weightloss while working out. That said, I don't feel good enough to exercise yet. (At 12 days)

So I got cleared for the gym wednesday and that day I did 1 hour on the stationary bike.. and the next day I did 30 minutes on the elliptical.. I plan on going to the gym everyday and doing an hour one day and 30 mins the next and then work my self up for more. Ive never really gone to the gym or worked out for that matter (minus zumba lol ) so I was wondering what is the best work out routine? am I okay with just the bike and elliptical or should I be doing something else as well?

Getting ready to go to my Hula Cardio class. 60 mins of fun and sweat....but in a sexy way!! Love this so much more than Zumba!!! But for my Zumba lovers it's all good as long as we're having fun working out and taking care of our new bodies! If you haven't tried Hula Cardio - don't knock it until you try it! It's a lower body workout that you will fill in your hips, thighs and core! I'm off

Ok without going into the whole story I had 3 surgeries in 4 months with the final one being lap band removal and revision to sleeve on 1/25/13. I have been extremely sick for the past year (due to lap band and side effects and surgeries). Basically for the past 6 - 9 months I was living on popsicles and iced tea. I was severely dehydrated and required a lot of fluid replacement, 2 units of blood, and large amounts of potassium during my 4 night stay for revision. This leads me to my question. I did lose a lot of weight in the past year but I was definately in starvation mode and I rarely excercised because I had no energy and spent so much time on restriction due to surg…

I can't wait to get to goal so I can switch up my diet and start bulking up. I have been frequenting bodybuilding.com and some of those guys are eating huge amounts of carbs/protein to gain muscle mass. Are these amounts possible with the sleeve. At a minimum most of those guys are consuming 1-1.5g Protein per pound of body weight and well over 200g of carbs daily. Are any of you guys consuming this much to maintain or increase your gains? I know a lot of runners on this forum are consuming a ton of carbs but are you able to eat tons of protein too? thanks

Ok, so I recently hit my first major stall. I have made sure my diet is where it should be and I'm pretty good there. A friend said I should try changing up my exercise routine to kinda re kick start my weight loss. I already go to the gym 4-5 times a week I do 1 hour of cardio and 25-30 mins of strenght. However I have not found a good routine for my home where I have no equipment, can someone recommend some good at home work outs I can do on my off gym days and any other work out advice I would love. I am new to the whole work out thing, my husband normally helps me but he was recently deployed with the Army so im kinda at a loss. Thanks all

So...I have managed to lose 50lbs with only walking as exercise. Haven't been able to walk much all winter and can't wait to get out there. I am considering joining our local fitness center. I am nervous about this, very self conscience about my body and my abilities to actually do exercise other than walking. I see that they offer an indoor cycling class. This sounds like something I might be interested in. And I don't want this to sound like I am lazy, but is this super hard? I don't want to look like an idiot and not be able to do a 30 minute class. I don't even know what they do in a cycling class. If you have done this please let know what your experience was like. I…

Ok, I put aside my vanity and wore my baggy cool weather gear and went out for a ride. 47 degrees, but not a bad way to burn 672 calories in 50 minutes. The part that is really an NSV? While it isn't my fastest time, it is less than a 1/2 MPH off of my fastest and I haven't been on my bike since October of last year when I was 35 pounds heavier than I am now. I definitely noticed that the hills didn't seem as steep, and I didn't seem out of breath. Several weeks of spin class can take some credit, but the weight loss is the real champion. http://connect.garmin.com/activity/282936239

I am looking for some new workout songs! What Is on your playlists? I like a little of everything. Love Hip Hop. Flo Rida is always included somewhere in my workout. Love "Good Feeling" and "Run". Also love Eminem's "Lose Yourself" & "Not Affraid". Club music is also a must for me. Love David Guetta (Little Bad Girl) and Calvin Harris (Let's Go). Usually have some Underoath (Reinventing Your Exit).

Hi all, I have been working out doing a Wii exercise called My Fitness Coach for almost a year. My surgery was 15 months ago. I used to get a great workout doing this, but lately since I've lost so much weight, it is getting easier and easier. I want something that will give me a good workout and be a challenge for me. I used to break out in a big sweat and be so tired afterwards. Now I barely break a sweat and would do more if I wanted. I would love to do cardio on the Wii, but I am open to any other suggestions. Thanks!

1. I've been consistently doing cardio since my surgery on 12/17. Now it's time to add strength training and I have no idea what to do. Suggestions?! 2. I recently watched Fat, Sick and Nearly Dead and it's got me interested in juicing. I was thinking about doing a juice fast. Has anyone tried this?

My insurance company requires the 6 months medically supervised diet for approval. One of the criteria for approval is that I must not be able to lose more than 10% of my body weight and maintain for that period. So, I don't want to lose more than 26 lbs or I will not qualify. I really need to keep my loss under 20 lbs so I will also be at 40 BMI or more. If I fall under 40 BMI, I have to have two other medical conditions to qualify (which I don't.) I don't want to just stay at this weight and really want to start working out and losing. My plan is to start eating healthier, drinking Protein shakes (hopefully find one I like for post-surgery), and begin working out…

Just going through my cycling clothes since it looks like it is going to be warm enough to ride this weekend. My spandex bibs and shorts have enough stretch that they will still work, but man the cycling jersey's are definitely not form fitting any more. I don't mind buying regular clothes as I shrink, but man this stuff is expensive! Well time to shave my legs so the I am not completely ostracized by the other riders.

I have heard that it is a good idea to run with an incline on the treadmill, so I tried that today. 5k at 1-2%, alternating depending on when I got too tired at 2.0%. Is this a good incline to start with? I did OK, but ran the 5k about 3 min slower @ 28 min. What would you recommend as a progressive training so I get uses to running hills in about 2 weeks. Not too tired, but quads are burning a little ( good right?). I also felt my IT bands tighten a bit while running.

Ok I was never a fan of yoga until now. I discovered hot yoga. Its all about stretching and isolating muscle groups. 90 minutes all done in a moist heated room its so cleansing. You feel like you shed so much weight after class from sweating! Seriously if you haven't tried it yet. Do it! Its a nice addition to the gym. Anyone else have something new to share?
