About Me

I have ALWAYS been the heavier one in my family. In high school I was 170-175 but I was always active so it really did not show. Then I got pregnant with my daughter and once she was born I was in the 220 range. Unfortunately, my weight has done nothing but go up over the past ten years (75 pounds of it was in one month due to a depression medication). My family doctor finally referred me to an endocrinologist in the spring of 2011 and she put me on phentermine to assist with the weight loss. I actually lost about 40-50 with the phen but then I plateaued. Being on the highest dose I had nowhere else to turn to. That was until my doctor recommended the band. She advised me that a local surgeon was starting a clinic specifically for banding so I would not have to travel to Indianapolis to get it done. I was so excited!! I thought yes, this is the answer to all of my prayers. Unfortunately, in the process of starting everything I was told by an agent at my health insurance that no type of gastric bypass was available on my plan. So being banded was put on the back burner. Until now!!!

My health insurance plan has been switched to another… And during this process, I have been informed that my plan, even my old one, covered bypass surgery at 100% so now, it is just a waiting game until I meet with my surgeon for the first time and get this party started… I cannot wait for my journey to begin and I am ready for a new chapter in my book of life
