I know that is a harsh word but they are just awful. I saw the surgeon on my first visit for all of 10 min. months ago and his staff is just terrible. They constantly give me the wrong information, they dont return my phone calls, they are constantly passing the buck. Unfortunately, he is the only doctor my insurance will cover. I am trying to be patient but golly I am running low with them. Right now my insurance company has approved me and left a message with them yesterday. At 8am this morning the gal said she just got in she will call me when she checks her message. Its not after 4 and nothing. I then emailed her this afternoon with teh approval letter and app…

Hey y’all, I am post op RNY 2 years, and down almost 130lbs. I just accepted a new job which takes me away from home for 3 weeks at a time each month. I just returned from my first trip and while away i regained some weight!!!!! Ahhhhh! Now that I’m seeing that, I’m noticing the ability to eat a little bit more than I was before at a time...has anyone experience this? What do you recommend when living in a hotel room for 3 weeks at a time? I didn’t want to buy a lot of stuff while I was down there this past trip because i would then have to throw it away if not used before I come home (travel is between PA and TX). Thanks

Today I discovered just how bad it feels to drink even a little too fast. Yes, it sucks and sucks bad. Took almost an hour and a half for it to subside. Sent from my Z981 using BariatricPal mobile app

It's getting real! Having my EGD and EKG done Friday! I'm having a revision surgery from LapBand to Bypass! I started my low carb diet today! So far it's been easy. With LapBand I had to do a 2 week liquid diet, which sucked! I'm looking for fellow LapBand patients who have had a revision and had success. The band honestly never worked for me. I was 393 when I had the band placed and now I'm at 370 after 6 years. I only have two main concerns with the surgery.. I'm worried about excess skin and dumping syndrome.

As the subject says, I think my sweet tooth has been pulled. I really didn't do well with the diet cranberry juice. I'm doing so much better with the chicken broth. It's easier going down and has a better mouth feel. Sent from my Z981 using BariatricPal mobile app

Yesterday (Monday) was day one of my pre-op diet. I'm allowed 2 protein shakes, a smart meal, and a smart snack per day. I had all but the snack as I didn't need it. However it's almost 5am and I still haven't been able to fall asleep. Is it normal to experience insomnia and restlessness during the pre-op diet?

Hello everyone! Officially 2 weeks post op today. Really struggling with my fluids but still trying to get more and more in! My main problem is food! The irony... it seems like I have a food aversion to everything. I’ve tried some things that work one day and not another. Still on full liquids/ some mushy. I was just seeing if anyone had some ideas besides applesauce, pudding, and yogurt. I can seem to hold beans pretty well but they’re getting boring. Thanks for any ideas Hw-378 Sw- 363 (2/27/18) CW-338.4

Yes, I'm now bypassed. The surgery went incredibly well since I took the pre-op liquid diet so seriously. My surgeon have me a gold star, lol. The only pain I have which is really a low ache is from gas. I even managed to walk for almost 50 minutes. My only wish is not getting this surgery sooner. Hi everyone, I'm New to BariatricPal but many posts have been very helpful throughout my short journey. I can't wait to continue being motivated by reading about everyone else's struggles similar to mine and success stories I aspire to accomplish. Best of luck to all! So today is my 10th day post op, & had an appointment with my NUT i was hoping she'd say I was good for mushy foods because I was so sick of protein shake at this point. 2 weeks pre op & 10 days post op liquid diet. Turns out she did give me the go ahead and I went home for some beans and low fat melted cheese... First, the cheese didn't melt all the way (gross) almost like imitation…

I've really grown to love these shakes. I used to work at medical weight loss clinic and I know the prices are a rip off! Wondering if anyone knows of a similiar shake but in a big 2# tub? I really am looking for the texture here bc they are thicker than an average protein shake. Thanks! Sent from my LGMP450 using BariatricPal mobile app

I’m 1.5 weeks out and my surgeon doesn’t require a liquid diet pre-surgery. I have eaten so much today. More than I have in a long time. Anyone else go through this? Is this a “food funeral”?

Ok. So yesterday was a bad day. I went to my favorite middle easter restaurant and I had a full plate of sautéed spinach, chickpea salad and a piece of sweet potato and spinach casserole (just veg, no cheese or cream). I guess it wasn’t the worst thing ingredient wise, but it certainly pushed me over my calorie limit for the day. Thank you all for your stern words. I will make today a better day.

So I am brand new on here. I needed to find people who know what’s about to happen to me. I was told 2 days ago my surgery will be next Wednesday. I haven’t had time to process even though this has been a 8 month long journey. I am getting RNY and hiatal hernia repair. I am terrified of not having control or knowing EXACTLY how I will feel after surgery. I am a nurse and I take care of post op patients all of the time, but I see the bad, the people who have complications, pulmonary embolisms, peritonitis, pneumonia, infections..... I just want to know exactly how bad the pain will be? Will I be able to take deep breaths or will I feel like I can’t breathe? How the hell am…

I got my date for sleeve to bypass revision for April 9 and I have a preop for April 3rd. I'm curious as to what the preop entails as I've already had lab work and EKG completed. I'm assuming they will want to weigh me and do lab work and preoperative instructions? Am I correct in assuming that? Sent from my SM-J727U using BariatricPal mobile app

I’ve had four days of severe pain, two hospital visits and pretty much nothing to eat since Thursday. Thought it was indigestion at first - awful wind and bloating. Now taking Movicol - just had fourth dose (as x-ray showed constipation) and still no movement. Eating causes serious pain so I’ve eaten some peppermint on nurse advice, drinking mint tea and that’s it. What I’d like to know... how do I reset once bowels have moved? I’m terrified to eat. Had a little non dairy milk yesterday (ancient grains) and spent an hour rocking in pain afterward. I mean really? Poo? This much pain? Ambulance staff and doctors did say though that post gastric b should always get abdomina…

I have officially lost 30lbs. Just 28 more lbs until I am under 200lbs. I am finally going back to work today. I have really enjoyed the time off. I haven't lost much weight in the past two weeks. Hopefully my weight loss will pick back up. I am wearing clothes again that I haven't been able to wear for years, that is exciting. Most of my weight loss has been on my legs. I wish it was my face, arms, and stomach. Eating is painful at times. I still need to practice eating slower and chewing better. No one has seen me since my surgery. I wonder if anyone will notice the weight loss. I kinda hope not, I don't really want to talk about it. Sent from my SM-G930V using Baria…

That I wonder why I am doing this? LOL! Wake up, blood sugar is in the low 130s. How the hell is this possible when it was 98 before I went to bed!? Hey, I know the answer but it still doesn't make sense: body makes sugar at night. My pancreas and liver are at mortal combat with each other. My energy is really super duper low today ... I am ready for a tweet from Donald Trump to confirm my "low energy" so I can join the ranks of Ben Carson. Before anyone says anything, yes, I put down 48 oz of liquid this morning including the 8 oz of that foul product called OptiFast. Yes, I took my Metformin. Yes, everything ran through me faster than 1 lap of the Indy 500. Yes, you mis…

Hey Friends, I had RNY on 1/4/18. I had weeks of nausea before a barium swallow test revealed I had a stricture. When I went in to have it balloon dilated, they also found an ulcer. This greatly increased the risk of tearing during a dilation, and because I was already dehydrated, etc, they hospitalized me and started me on an IV and feeding tube. Now, my surgeon is giving me two options: Live with a feeding tube for at least 2 weeks, taking the coating medication for the ulcer, and hope the ulcer heals so we can try dilating it safely. OR Go in for revision surgery now. On one hand, the feeding tube is so uncomfortable, and I won't know if the ulcer is healing unti…

Just had my EDG done earlier today. I was sedated but still conscious. I gagged the whole time. They had to basically hold me down. It was kinda terrible... but I'm thankful it's over! One step closer to surgery! They said I had a 3cm hernia, which is crazy. I had no idea. So, they'll fix that during surgery too. I feel nauseous though. Is that normal? Anyone else on the pre-op diet running to piss almost every hour? This started happening to me today and I am half way through the pre-op diet. Is this just the body letting go of the excess water being held from diets high in sodium? LOL! It's almost to the point where I don't want to be more than a few minutes from the toilet.

I had RNY bypass 12/08/17. Loved everything about my surgery team and surgeon. On Feb. 23rd I ended up in my local ER in excruciating pain. I was suffering from a large hernia. The local ER tried to blame it on my RNY. I was sent onto Riverside Hospital and was cared for by my original surgeon from Dec. The hernia was due to gallbladder surgery 25+ years ago. My diet has suffered a slight setback from the additional surgery, but I’m finally getting better. I can’t say enough good things about Dr Rana and Riverside Methodist Hospital.

So my surgery is scheduled for March 13th and I’m very nervous but excited and ready to get the surgery over with and their were still some people whom were trying to discourage me from getting the surgery but have since excepted it because they know I’m trying to get healthy and their were those whom looked at it as cheating by getting the surgery because they don’t see it as a tool but if they were to be in my shoes the past year up until now they might change their mind this isn’t easy I started my pre-op 2 week liquid and it’s been very tough I’ve notice my energy has been low I’ve been getting headaches and have been feeling hangry aka hungry+angry because I see eve…

I am 3 1/2 weeks post op and have been nothing but sick for the past week. I had an endoscopy done today and learned I had stricture (the hole between the pouch and the intestines is too small) and an ulcer where the sutures were. Has anyone else had this problem? They were able to open up the hole a little but will need to repeat it in 3 weeks. They gave me medicine for the ulcer and bumped me back down to a liquid diet. Quite honestly I'm having serious buyers remorse. All this pain and misery is hardly worth the lousy 15 pounds that I have lost. I'd rather be fat and be able to chew food and take a drink of something and not feel nauseous. Seriously wondering why I di…

I had a bit of a mental debate with myself about wether I should be completely honest with this doctor because I have an extensive mental health history. I have been involved with mental health people for more than 15 years so I kind of know what they want to hear. I opted for honesty because my anxiety levels are insane lately. The woman did not "turn me down" for the gastric bypass surgery but she added another friggin diagnosis. Apparently, I have a binge eating disorder. This worries me because I fear that my insurance company (I have pretty decent insurance) will say that with such an issue the surgery would be wasted on me. I just need a chance...some help... I mess…

Hello all, I am new to this forum. I just attended my first doctor's appointment in a possible road to weight loss surgery. I'm going back and forth on the whole thing. I keep telling myself that maybe I can just diet instead, but I've been heavy since I was a young child so obviously none of my efforts have been long lasting. I lost a significant amount of weight about 9 years ago, but I started regaining within a year. What I'm most scared of in regards to surgery is the long term life that I would be living. So the question I'm posing to anyone who had gastric bypass say...3 or more years ago is...how is life? Are you able to live a "normal" life? I have seen a lo…
