  1. Hey There! Just seen your post, I've been off for a little while. Hope things are moving along with you in your journey. I had RNY but if I can be of any help to you, please let me know. BCBS federal was my insuance and they did wonderful toward my surgery.

  3. Hey there, Dr. Johnson also did my surgery. I had a band removal and hernia repair on 3/26/2018. I had some heartburn a few weeks after my surgery and they put me on some over the counter Prilosec. I would call the office if you have any concerns. Dr. Johnson's nurse, Emily is quick to get back with you.

  5. Sorry so late replying, didn't check the sight over the weekend. I am doing well. Never had a lot of pain just soreness. When I started my journey August of 2017 the Medical Center was not a Blue Cross and Blue Shield distinction center. In 2018 they became a BCBS distinction center, but I had already invested with the surgeons in Atlanta so I stuck with them. Had the Medical Center been a distinction center in 2017 when i started I would have very much considered them. I had a revision surgery from Lap-Band to RNY. My doctor thought the bypass would be the best option for me especially since I had severe diabetes. I hope you have great success with you surgery.

  7. Hey there, I had gastric bypass on March 26, 2018 and I'm from Middle GA. Had my surgery in Atlanta.
  8. Hang in there, it will start. I finally started dropping again pretty close to a 3 week stall. I actually dropped down to 358 lbs. and the next couple of days I shot back up to 361 lbs. and stayed there for almost 3 weeks. This past week the scales finally started to move and I'm down to 356 lbs. I know it's hard and for all you've been through you're expecting more. I was feeling the same way, so you’re not alone. We just got to stay strong and stick to our plans and it will happen!
  9. I believe both surgeries can be very beneficial for diabetes. Even though I thought the RNY was the right thing for me, I was open to whatever my surgeon recommended. It seemed to me there was more data out there about RNY and diabetes. In my pre-op class, about a week before my surgery, there was a gentleman that was not near as overweight as I was. He was there because his diabetes was out of control and he was having the sleeve, by the same surgeon. I don’t know what lead him to choose the sleeve, but I have to think my surgeon thought it would be beneficial to him. I know it’s a tough decision to make, in my opinion I don’t think you can go wrong with either. I’m sure there are others on here that have had success in treating their diabetes with the sleeve. My advice would be to consult with your doctor over these concerns. Hoping the best for you and your mother.

  11. My choice for RNY was based on my research and its' success of treating diabetes. When I first had my consultation with my surgeon and he reviewed my medical records and we talked about my condition he also recommended the RNY.

  13. I was expecting it to be much harder than it was. My recovery went well. I never experienced a lot of pain, I was uncomfortable at times, however I did take my pain meds every 4 hours. I figured it was best to stay on top of it instead of waiting until I was hurting to ask for it. They did have me up and walking every for hours, I think that helped a lot too. My biggest problem when I got home was trying to sleep on my side so I spent a few nights in my recliner. If I new I would get along as well as I have, I would have done this years ago. I know I'm just 3 weeks out but no regrets thus far. I hope all goes well with you.
  14. Hey There, I,m right there with you. I am 3 weeks removed from my surgery and I have been in a stall for a week. From what I read I think it's common. I've lost a total of 37lbs 25 of that was on my 2 week pre-op diet. My doctor told me after 3 weeks I could start exercising more. I think we just need to hang in there and stick with our plan and it will start back up.

  17. I'm a little over 2 weeks from my revision from band to RNY. I had my band for 16 years. I am amazed at how well I'm doing just 2 weeks out. I've lost 37 lbs., that includes my 2 week pre-op diet. I feel great! I wish I had done this much sooner. I had developed a hiatal hernia and I could not tolerate any fluid in my band. That was also repaired in my surgery. Good luck on your journey.

  19. Hi All, Starting my second week of my PRE-Op diet, have to say I'm in a much better place than I was this time last week. Those first 2 days were awful, on the second day I felt like I had the flu. Got home from work and went straight to bed. My surgery is next Monday March 26. I can't wait to get it over with. Hope everyone has a successful journey.
  20. I have a hiatal hernia also. My surgery date is March 26 I'm having a revision from lap-band to RNY. Doctor is planning to do it all in one surgery including the hernia repair.
