I just got approved and I am soooo scared. Before the approval there was nothing but excitement from my first appointment 9/30/11. I think that I honestly thought I wouldn't get approved because I'm 26 and 248. However, they approved me very qucikly and my surgery is the 25th. All I keep thinking about is.... what if something happens to me? I am too young to die. I have a 1 year old son.... what if something goes wrong???? Maybe I am just having thoughts like this because I buried my grandmother yesterday and my boss died last week, but what are the statistics? What are my chances? Am I willing to die for this? Am I crazy because I am going through trauma in my l…

Went to the movies tonight. I was caught up in the movie that I reached in to the popcorn tub and ate 12 to 15 popped kernels before I realized what I had done. I am 3 weeks almost 4. Now I am worried that this can hurt my sleeve or that I am falling in to old patterns. I am do disappointed in myself. Help!

Anyone ever wean off anti-depressants? I have been on them for about 4-5 years now and would love to stop taking them eventually. I don't know why. I guess I just want to try and make myself feel better without medicine. I have tried a few times but then I slowly feel the anxiety and "snappiness" of my attitude come back after about a week. Then I start back again. I am hoping about a year after surgery I can try and successfully get off the meds. I wanted to try and do it before surgery but I read a lot about how learning to eat again can be a very emotional event so I don't even want to mess with that situation. lol Anyhow, if any of you have ever done this i w…

  4. Ok, so there is no shame in having a 2nd WLS, but why on earth would she choose the lapband for the 2nd surgery? WHAT DOCTOR in their right mind would suggest this knowing what we know about the high failure rate of the lapband??? I'm just shocked. Anybody else? Poor Carnie... I can only hope she can make this work.... I was sleeved on 3/15 and I'm starting to think that picking the Ides of March was maybe not such a good idea. While the surgery went fine without any major complications (one of my incisions still continues to leak fluids), I am having a really rough time. For the first two weeks I was on Clear liquids only and then the next two weeks (my current stage) is full liquids. While I will admit the clear liquids phase was rough, I thought the next phase would be better for me. My biggest problem is that I am incredibly weak and feeling dizzy constantly. I have been likening it to being stoned but not in the good way. I just feel very disconnected. When I went to see …

I was banded 10 years ago and due to some band issues and then my own issues, I will be getting a revision to the sleeve on May 25th. I would certainly say that I have an unhealthy relationship with food. I would like to create a healthy life for myself long term with the help of the sleeve. However, I really believe that I have to find a way to deal with the obsession/addiction issues and the grief of losing types/amounts of food that I struggle with. I know from experience that forced restriction works, but not forever. So my question is, have any of you worked with a therapist/counselor to work through head issues? When looking for a therapist, what did you look fo…

I was sleeved 3/20. I've had trouble transitioning to puréed foods. Two nights ago, I had my first real breakdown over the sleeve. I was panicking and I was in tears, asking my husband what in the world I'd done to myself and whether I'd ever "feel normal" again. Then, I got a good nights sleep and felt a whole lot better the next day. I will just have to take things slowly. I can do this!!!! Sent from my iPhone

I'm 6 wks out and I have my my 2nd post op appt. today which is 1 month since my last appt and I've only lost 4 lbs in the last month. The first two months are supposed to be when we have the fastest weightloss. I've been trying to stay positive but, I'm starting to feel like I went thru all this for nothing. (surgery, risks, hairloss...) Is there anyone else who's losing as slow and as little as I am? My calories are between 500-800 per day, very low carb. I'm walking daily an hour a day. So down & frustrated.

Okay peeps, we talked about it on the Valentines Day thread so I thought I would officially start the Easter challenge. Its approximately 7 weeks away so keep that in mind when you set your goals. The further I have gotten the smaller my goals so I dont get discouraged. The first 2 were 20 pounds each, the Valentines one was 15 so this one I am going to set at 13. I haven't made a goal yet but I only fall a few pounds short. Anyways, here are my stats for this one... SN: Forensikchic SW: 166.8 GW: 154 CW: 166.8 lbs to lose 12.8 Everybody join in and lets motivate each other! We can do this!!!!

I thought we could have a new area to post our progress updates, so here's mine!! Hey Everyone! Hope yall are doing awesomely! I am just now getting on my computer to check things out. Surgery went awesome. The main thing I have to say I disliked was that long drain that had to be removed. No fun and that is where the worst of the pain is. I am following the post diet, but I have to say it might make me insane by my 2 week post op. My body wants meat meat meat and all I can give it is yogurt, pudding, grits, and strained Soups. -.- For those already sleeved, What is the diet after 2 weeks that your doc gave you? Well, I am on my full pre-op diet now. I sort of eased into it before I had to be on it. I did have a grilled steak this past week and last night I had some Pasta, but now, I have gone full tilt on the liquid. I truly don't have to start it until April 11, but to be honest, I am afraid that if I don't start today, I will "fall off" and not do what I am supposed to do. So, I opted to make today, Monday, a clean break of all the old past and move on with the new. It was good read other's posts about the pre-op diet phase. I think I will get some sugar free candy and some sugar free gum in different flavors just to have that boost if I feel like I am going to stray. …

  16. I am scheduled to have my surgery on May 22 with Dr. Garcia in Mexico. I have had previous surgery in Mexico (tubal ligation reversal) and figured I might as well tell my mother this time. (last time I waited until after I got back and she wasn't too happy. So this time I fully expected her to give me grief!!!! Wrong, she is very supportive. She knows the medical issues that I have been having and how my insurance (Kaiser Permanente) has denied me twice. She says, that she is here to support me to help me a happier and healthier me. I know that stalls happen but I don't know what else to change I stay under 800 calories and under 40 carbs and get around 70 Proteins a day. I have posted my frustration before and it seems to help my disappointment level. I have spoke with my nut and my trainer they say keep working it will change. 19. Hi, I'm 3 months post op and have lost a total of 60 pounds, (9 were from the 1 week pre-op liquid diet). I'm wondering if its normal that my weightloss has slowed down so much. I lost about 50 pounds in the first 2 months and have only lost 10 pounds in the last month. I am worried that it will continue to slow. My start weight was 340 and i'm at 280 now, which is great, but i'm worried it'll continue to slow down and I will not continue to lose. I'm starting to recognize between hunger and head hunger and am trying to make healthier choices, but sometimes I stumble. I struggle with recognizing when I'm full and not feeling guilty if anything is left on my plate. …

I've noticed something when I go out to eat with my friends now since I've had surgery. They really pay attention to the amount of food that I eat, and then they try to eat a small amount of their food also. Or they ask me what I'm ordering and they get the same thing. I don't like all the attention being placed on what I'm eating or not eating. I just like to enjoy being out and socializing. I have one friend in particular that I was hanging out with yesterday who knows that I recently had WLS, but insisted that she wanted to eat at Raising Cane's, which has absolutely nothing that I can eat, even though she had just eaten there the day before. I told her I couldn't ea…

Well, I went to the seminar tonight and now I'm leaning toward the sleeve. I still don't know for sure yet though. Anyone care to share their experience with the sleeve and if you are happy with your decision? Also, if you thought about lap band and went sleeve, what are your reasons? Thanks! ~Amy

I got my sleeve yesterday! Since this is technically an April group, I'm guessing I am the first to go so I wanted to give you all a play by play so you are prepared. My friend dropped me off at the surgery center and she had to go to work when I went back with the nurses. The nurses made me take another pregnancy test, I changed, got an I.V. in and the nurses continued to ask questions. I was happy I got to keep on my undies! Then I started to cry and the nurse, Mary, held my hand and talked me through my feelings. I told her I felt alone, but then I realized all my friends were texting me with their support, since they were all at work, that was the best way for the…

Okay, so I have been lurking around on the boards for about three months...researched, researched, etc. (however, I still am finding out little things). I realize my pre-surgery jitters are normal for many. I realize the majority of us have issues with poor eating, exercise habits, and depression and that is why we became obese. I realize this is not a magic bullet and that I will have to learn to incorporate better eating habits (types of food and portion control), along with working out AND creating a support system for the eating, working out and for general mental health (handling everyday life stressors). What I am not sure "I get" is the usage over and over of as…

Hey fellow and future sleevers, I just wanted to share some good news. I am 2 weeks post op today, and at weigh in I was 399.2. This is the first time in ten years I have been under 400 #s. I am stoked. I was given the ok by my nut to start on the mushies, but I am afraid to put anything into my stomach. I'm afraid to damage or overdue it. I'll start off slowly. Anyhoo, just wanted to share my good news. I am proud of myself.

I have seen a lot of people sleeved around the same time I was who seem to have moved on to more foods...anyway, just kind of wanting to check and see what others were eating.

Sooooo, my ticker says I have -42lbs left to lose to get to GOAL. And I've been waffling about changing my goal. My original goal was set by my sugeon. I know exactly why he made the goal too, because I would be just inside the chart for having a healthy BMI. HOWEVER, this goal is about -25lbs LESS than my lowest adult weight. In other words the last time I weighed what he set my goal for I was probably 13-14 years old. At my 6 month checkup, my surgeon was wanting to bump my goal up +15ish lbs...just by looking at me. Which I did take as a compliment. But I didn't change my goal. Now that I'm almost 1 year post-op and things have just slowed down to a snails pace, I …

Today was my last dietician's appointment. I asked him at the end of the appointment if I needed anything else done (I've been looking through the forum and everyone mentions some sort of clearance) and he said no. That they are sending my paperwork in today for approval. Well I'm excited about that but I'm worried if there's no actual clearance to make sure that doing surgery on me will be safe. Maybe they require it after I get approved? IDK. Help? lol

I'm 15 months post-op. I thought having complications was long behind me. But alas, yesterday I found out that I have to have surgery to repair my incisional hyper-umbilical hernia. Six months ago, I was doing crunches and I felt a pull in my navel. I went to the doctor and we both thought I had pulled a muscle. It didn't bother me for a while. Three months ago when I had an impacted colon, my CAT scan showed that I had a hernia. Recently, the more I exercise, the more my stomach and navel hurt. Two weeks ago, I had the stomach flu from hell. I threw up for 3 days straight. Since then the shape of the top part of my stomach has changed and now I feel something…
