Wow, this is becoming really real for me now. Had my preadmissions testing in the hospital and met with anestheoligst(sp?). I needed a chext x-ray, EKG, and blood work. They also told me all about what they will do presurgery. My nerves are definately starting to kick it. However, I am still 110% optimistic. Day 3 of my preop diet now. Day 1 & 2 went really well, but today I have that nagging diet Headache that I usually always get when changing my eating habits. How's everybody else doing today?

Hi everyone, I have to be at the hospital at 9 a.m. for my surgery and I am so excited! I'm sure the nerves will kick in by morning but for now, I'm just ready to get to the loser's bench! I would like to thank you all for sharing your journeys on this site and also ask for your prayers tomorrow. I wish each of you the best of luck as your date rolls around. Mimi P.S.- tonight I hit my personal goal of weighing 250 before surgery. I started this journey in September at 307 and as of 8 pm weigh 250.4. This is the most I've ever lost at one time and it's all because I know help is on the way in the form of a tiny tummy. Sent from my iPad using VST

Well I started this jouney on December 11, 2011 with my initial visit. I did 3 months of weighins (don't know if that is how you spell that). I completed the requirements of an EKG, Heart MRI, Upper GI, Bloodwork during those 3 months. My surgery was approved by my insurance company the first submission on March 22, 2012. I have a surgery date set for April 30, 2012 at Innova Hospital in San Antonio. Once i got approved my doctor ordered more blood work and another EKG, now my EKG has come back as borderline ECG. Now i have to go see a cardiologist. I hope this doesn't set my surgery date back. Has anyone else had this happen?

Well I am down 5.6 since last time I checked in on February 25th to 151.2. A little more than 20 lbs to my loose goal of 130. I'd really like to get to 120 or maybe 115 being 4'11''. Went on vacation 2 weeks ago and did lots of walking and driving, more than I have done since my leak. I think I really needed that, it kicked me in to gear and got me back in the swing. How is everyone else doing?

I noticed that a few of us have 2/6 sleeve dates, so I thought I'd give us our own pre-op thread. On 2/6 we can make our very own POST-op thread! I can not wait to make an "I'm SLEEVED!" thread. I've been reading them for months and was always so envious, wondering if I'd ever be able to make one of my own. Now it's becoming a reality!!

In summary from reading these and other articles (my conclusion—please draw your own, I am not an expert and still awaiting to be sleeved!). I am having a bit of pre-surgery jitters, so re-researching to be clear I am making the right choice for me, for the right reasons and my expectations of self and surgery are realistic. The long term percentage rate of dieters regaining most or all weight back does seem to be much higher (up to 95%) than those that actually have bariatric surgery . HOWEVER, WITH THAT SAID, SOME STUDIES SAY UP TO 5% OF BARIATRIC PATIENTS GAIN IT ALL BACK. 2-3 years after surgery 80% of patients regain 5-10 pounds and approximately another 20% ke…

Please someone help me. Over the past 24 hours I feel like I have something stuck in my throat. It is very uncomfortable. I havent been able to eat anything today, and threw up when I tried. I do have terrible heartburn issues so I take over the counter meds for that, but this is a different feeling. I have felt really crappy today, and dont know why. I do know however, that I ate some marinated cucumbers yesterday. They didnt bother me at all. I have no idea why this is happening buy I am starting to get really worried. Any idea's of what is happening? I am desperate.

I have been in a stall for about 3 weeks, but I have notice inches coming off, but I will admit not seeing the scale move was internally driving me crazy!!! But I did enjoy buying smaller clothes even though the scale held steady at 214 lbs... I kept going to the gym and working out, eating my Proteins first, drinking my liquids, etc.. just trying to stay positive and encouraged and BAM! I did my 8 wk post op weigh in and the scale read 210 lbs... down 22 lbs since surgery 39 total weight lost!! So my bottom line is that inches will equal pounds and inches will get you in a smaller size before the scale catches up with you Operation Sexy 2012 in full effect!

I've finished all of my consulatations. My transnasal endoscopy in on 4/18/12. I'm told the surgery is usually a week after. I haven't been given a definite date yet. I have my sleep study scheduled for 4/5/12. My doctor said there is no pre-op diet. It looks like everyone seems to have some sort of pre-op weight loss diet. The psychiatrist who did my consult suggests I start doing things like I'm post-op just to begin the habit.

Arrived here in Tijuana yesterday before noon. Crossing the border was easy. I'm staying at the Marriott not far from hospital Angeles. The hotel is very nice, heated pool, all the HBO channels (English) and great tasting coffee. Everyone has been very nice. I met some other sleevers as well. Coming alone hasn't been too bad so far. The next time I post I'll be sleeved.. Good luck to the rest of you

I'm curious what others do to reward themselves for their successes now. Before my surgery, I rewarded myself for things with fast food and junk food. I went to the gym & exercised? Good job, lets go to Portillos/Culvers/Burger King/etc. Since my surgery, I have been trying to reward myself with things other than food. I Celebrate a good month of eating healthy & going to the gym by treating myself to a facial or massage or something like that. My friends think this is such a waste of money to spend $100 a month on a treat like that, but I figure I realistically probably spent close to that on fast food before the surgery & I know I spent a lot more tha…

Hi I am just wondering if it is possible to escape this part of the process or if I am destined to have it happen to me. If you've missed this fun portion, can you let me know what you think made the different for you? I tried taking zinc the other day and spent the day on the lu I have been getting in 65-80g protein/day and hoping to keep that up. I am only 5 wks post op.

Is there a board where we can go talk about anything? I wanted to ask the other day if anyone was going to watch the new show with Wilson Phillips lol and I didn't know where to post it or if I even could. I see there is a talk lounge but even in there it seems to be primarily VGS talk. Hmmmm. I want to talk about being mad at my boyfriend or the ridiculous outfit so and so wore at the Oscars of just plain old talk. Anyone else?

I had my surgery on 1/23/12 (I will never ever forget this date) and I'm only down 28lbs from my surgery date---yes I'm one of the slow losers on this site. BUT! people at work and random people I meet think I'm 19 years old!! ---mind you I'm 32 years old and a mother (which all of the ladies know ages you). So YAY!!! for this non-weight loss success! My husband better watch out, my pool of potential suitors has expanded into the teens! LOL! What's amazing to me about this is that at my heaviest (250lbs---I'm only 5'2") people thought I was in my 40's! I also felt older when I was heavier.

I am on day three of the stomach flu. I have been on only liquids for three days and have lost four lbs. I was thinking today that this is exactly what I am going to be doing (by choice) come May 11. It is crazy how the flu can wipe out our hunger signals. I hate being sick but I thought this was a nice little pre-cursor of what is to come.

So I meet my surgeon today (who is a cutie pie btw) and after my appointment he sends me in to fill out some paperwork with a secretary. She immediately starts in on "I was going to have the surgery, but I lost 27 lbs on my own soooo" and then begins to tell me it isn't a magic fix. Afterwards, she gave me what I call the "fat talk". This includes things such as, you just need to exercise more along with about 15-20 minutes of dietary advice (which varies from person to person). I stayed cordial because I have heard the "fat talk" more times in my life than I can count. However, my husband started to get really pissed (he has heard me refer to it, but never actually heard…

Hello, to introduce myself I'm 18 almost 19 and a junior in college. I'm a female and I've had weight issues my entire life. Obesity runs in the family. As does arthritis, major knee problems, type 2, and a few other horrible things I can't remember right now. I'm 260, BMI of 43 and around 5'4. WLS has been suggested by a family doctor and another physician, the last like 4 months my health has gone down the crapper honestly. And I would rather do something, vsg, now than wait 10 years just to suffer and be miserable more. I've begun to take the steps towards it however I'm still not 100% sure. Maybe like 99% most of the time and sometimes it's like 75% lol. My questio…

Just wanted to introduce myself. I am Susan, and I head into surgery this Tuesday morning. I had the bypass in 2004 - starting weight 345. I got down to around 200, but gradually put it back on. I "never" felt that my pouch was small enough. I even remember telling the doc that I felt I could eat way more than I should be able to at 3 months. Of course, through the years, I developed the bad habits like diet sodas, straws, too many carbs.... I am back up to 300. My hubby says if I screw this one up he's leaving, lol - hence my screen name. New company for my hubby and his insurance will NOT pay for my surgery. The company is willing to pay for it, which we are…

I am having surgery May 11th. I have taken off Thursay for travel and Friday for the surgery. I haven't requested Monday or any other days off for recovery because I want to try and not use vacation days. I have a very sedentary desk job but at the same time there are many times throughout the day where I will have clients in front of me at my desk. How many days did you take off? Do you think I will be able to return to work within a few days after surgery? I am worried I will have someone at my desk and have to run to the bathroom and puke or something. Any advice will be appreciated. Thank you.

ok. i can honestly say that my sleeve surgery has saved my life and even though i ended up with a stricture i would still do it all over again. i am however noticing that i am currently at week 16 and because of the sticture i have yet to reach the "make healthy food choices but still can eat what you pretty much want just in smaller amounts" phase. i am still on the pureed stage. yes, that's right i'm 16 weeks post surgey and still at the pureed stage thanks to the stomach stricture issue. thank goodness i have no appitite at all nor do i crave anything because if i did then that would just be too much to handle i think. now back to why i need help. this week, i r…

I have been following this website for 6 months now and decided that I might get involved in a few support groups. My surgery date is right around the corner and I realized I will be going through my liquid diet and surgery all during the week of passover. This got me to thinking that as Jewish people we may have special considerations following our sleeve surgery. I hope this group is helpful to anyone who would like to join. A little about me: I am a 32 year old mother of one. I have been married for 12 years and am a biologist. I decided that I needed the sleeve not long after I quit smoking. I gained enough weight (on top of my already heavy frame) that I was…
