If you have any books you are no longer reading or going to use with any relevance to VGS, WLS, food, habits, self-help, workbooks, etc - or anything you think might be of interest in that general direction, I would be most grateful to take them off your hands - or purchase them if the price is right.

All my life, I've bounced between 275lbs and 115lbs. Now that I am nearing my goal (hopefully for the last time), I'm feeling social and energetic. I always feel better about myself when I am thin, and am basically a hermit when I am fat. The last time I was thin, I lived in a different area, so now don't have any friends, in my area. How do I meet people? I don't work, as I am on permanent disability, I do go to the gym everyday, but most people, including myself, are focused on working out not socializing. There are MANY things I enjoy, hiking, music, camping, arts & crafts, learning new skills, horses, animals, children, movies, books, plays, construction and h…

Hi All, I had a revision from Lapband to VSG on Aug 15th. I used to take Loestein 24FE before my revision surgery. My surgeon told me due to absorption issues that 'could' happen I should look into another form of birth control. I went to my OB- GYN and she suggested the Nuvaring because I have PCOS and still need hormones in my birth control. So, my question is: All post-op's, what kind of Birth Control do you use? Does anyone use the Nuvaring & what do you think of it? Thanks!!

I'm 25 years old and had my sleeve done on August 14, 2012. Some days I really find myself regetting my decision. I obviously thought about it for months and weighed the pros and cons. However, I didn't expect eating to be so difficult. I expected that I would have to eat smaller portions, but I think the social aspect of it is really started to hit me hard. I've lost a total of 34.5 pounds so far and for that, I am grateful. My blood pressure is normal now and overall, I feel physically better. Emotionally, I'm tearing myself up. Some days I cry and cry regretting what I've done because life is so different now. I picture myself when I'm 40 and have kids and how I will n…

Hi everyone. I just got my surgery date of Oct 9th. Any surgery day buddies out there? I'm scared and excited. It doesn't seem real right now because its taken so long to get an actual date. I decided to pursue this about a year ago and because of my insurance requirements it has taken a while. But I am scheduled and excited for this tool that will help me to finally be the person I am inside.

After a recent scoping I was told I needed surgery. My plan was to just have the band removed, seemed like a simple thing to me. Well the surgeon told me reversing is next to impossible due to the amout of scar tissue and after consulting with other surgeons in the office no one willing to do reversal. His immediate plan was to convert to Gastric Bypass which floored me I currently weigh 128 and don't want to loose anymore weight, currently having trouble maintaining where I am. To my disbeli…

Hi, I was wondering if anyone has any issues meeting their nutritional goals long term? I know in the beginning you can't eat much..i see ppl saying they are eating (well drinking lol) like only 800 calories or less a day.. I'm a little concerned that at 12, 18, 24 months later and beyond i will at least be able to eat at least 1200-1500 calories per day without a struggle. I'm pretty sure i will be fine but a little reasurance wouldnt hurt right now.. Thanks

I was wondering if anyone has experienced feelings of guilt before/after surgery? I had my appt with the surgeon and nutrition today and submitted all my paperwork to admissions. Everything is real to me now that I am really having surgery. I was out shopping for my liquid diet items. I noticed so many obese people, like I am right now, and had feelings of sadness and some guilt. When I've lost weight in the past it also made me sad to see overweight people because we've all experienced the pain that comes with obesity and we know how it feels. I feel so blessed for being given the opportunity to have this surgery. Even though it's not for everyone I wish everyone …

Yes but I do not feel healthy and am terrified of what the labs will show. None of this is rational, it is just how I feel and needed to vent about it.

I found out something interesting today when I went to see my PCP. She said that there isn't any consistencies of how any meds are absorbed with the sleeve. Because some meds are designed to be absorbed slowly or quickly. Has anyone else heard this? How do you take your meds? On an empty stomach, or with food?

I had posted I was having problems with my gums..well it has progressed and may be an autoimmune disorder...so this may or may not be coincidental with the sleeve...I have a gum biopsy Monday...so we shall see ...the periodontist feels the stress to the body the sleeve created ..weight loss, the surgery itself ..could have made the disorder appear...oh well...this will be managed and I still will be healthier for it.

Ok...where to start. I have been big all my life, but when I was young I was an athletic kind of big. I played sports from the time I was 8 until I blew my knee out during softball season my junior year of high school. By then I had played softball annually, field hockey for a couple years and basketball. I was my current height (6') by the time I was 14. Which for a chick...is freaking tall. I'm from a family of giants. I have a horrible family history with regards to obesity. Grandfather died at 48 from a heart attack. My uncle had gastric bypass but failed it. I finally decided I was ready to have the gastric sleeve surgery. I have done my research on pro's and con's, on doctors and facilities, on success stories and negative feedback. I plan on having surgery next month (Mid-November) in Mexico. So now I am trying to figure out WHY I find myself seeking out negative feedback. It seems I am eagerly looking for complications, stories of regret, disadvantages, etc... My husband asked me last night if I am trying to talk myself out of surgery. Now I wonder if I am. Does this mean I am really not ready? I see people talking about if they aren't 100% sure then they probably really aren't ready. Do you agree with that? I know I…

I'm just wondering, from those of you that are already at goal, or close to your goal weight, and have had to lose 100+ pounds, did your skin tighten up at all afterwards, or do you have a lot of loose, saggy skin? (I expect it in my arms, but just wondering about my mid-section, not that I plan on being able to wear a bikini one day or anything....lol). I'm just hoping I have time on my side, a little bit, being in my early 30's. I am being delusional to think it might tighten up a little and not have an "apron"??
