For the past 2 years I have been wearing a bodybugg high up on my left arm.Its the first thing I do in the morning, put the bugg on. The strap is about 2 inches wide and fastens with velcro. It fits tightly around my arm. Since being sleeved I have noticed hat my left arm has a lot less hanging skin, especially high up on my arm...where the bugg sits.My right arm is 2 inches wider and has a lot more lose skin. I thought I was nuts but it is becoming more noticable now that I am a lot lighter. My question is this.Could serious compression garments have helped the skin to not be as lose as it is now? I have decided to go and buy some 4 inch elastic band and sow velcr…

I think my hair loss is starting. I have super thin hair already and you can see my scalp.. especially when my hair is wet. I am wondering if any of you out there have/had thin hair prior to surgery and what happened when your hair started falling out. Did it grow back? Did you look bald? I have some Xfusion that I wear and it really, really helps with concealing the thin areas. I hope it will still help when my hair gets thinner.

Hi guys - I am in serious need of some help and pep talking. I am putting weight on and it is like my worst nightmare is coming true. To recap, I got down to within 10 pounds of my goal, and even though it was hard work, I felt completely in control of it - doing all the right things and loving it! Then something happened...I don't know if it's that fear we (meaning emotional eaters/disordered eaters) get when we get close to maintenance - I've read about it and had it in the past - but I just panicked. I've been see-sawing ever since. I'll have a terrible week of eating junk and feeling horrible, and then will get back on the wagon and feel like I've kicked it, go b…

...If you are/were anything like me? I spent 7-8 years hiding from the world. I stopped seeing old friends because I was ashamed of what I had done to myself. Eventually they would give up on me because I was so flaky. I stayed in my home for the most part, even worked from home, and made excuses not to go out and do thIngs or be social, but the real reason was always my weight. I was 250 lbs, 5ft 3 in, and size 24. I guess I just feel like I wasted such a big part of my life, my twenties. I wasted this huge chunk of time where I could have been cute and pretty and happy, and instead chose to be reclusive and dependent on food as my comfort and entertainment. I wa…

Had my band removed as an emergency procedure in June in the states. I contacted Dr Weiner who agreed to sleeve me. When he went in he found my stomach so damaged from the band that he said it was in the shape of a ball from all the scarring. He has sleeved me, I am five days post op and feel great! I commend him on his experience, skill and courage but am now seriously thinking the band should be off the market.

So I had my surgery on 10/10 and was super nervous. The surgeon said everything went very well and he also repaired my hernia. I was in a lot of pain but the pain pump was a savior. I am a stomach sleeper and sleeping on my back in a hard hospital bed was THE WORST. I hate hospitals. You can never rest, always in and out and the lights are SO bright. Luckily the staff was great and that made it better. Had my leak test and no leak so started drinking water. Water was giving me heartburn but Crystal Light actually helped me get it down a lot better. I had a few breaking points of crying, just being frustrated, hoping I made the right decision, being in pain, headache from …

Today was a milestone for me... I have used a motorized chair off and on for 5 years ..but all day/every day (24/7) for the last 3 years...Reason: i have had 2 back surgeries (have some disc fused) & have arthritis in my back, hips and knees (to name a few) ...Doctor wants to replace both my knees, but that's another post. Since my WLS, i have tried to walk a bit everyday...at first, just around the island in the kitchen... Then from one end of the house to the other... Last Monday i added short, slow walks outside with my husband...(he would ride in my motorized chair in case i needed it). The walks gave me the confidence i needed... Today, when i woke up, i sa…

I've had it - I have tried everything, changed up the exercise, changed up the foods, increased calories, reduced calories, etc. etc. and I am just not losing, in fact, I am slowly slowly gaining, just like I have all of my life! I'm miserable about it. So, I am going back to 600 calories a day, <30 grams carbs, just like post-op. I'm sad to do it but I can't think of anything else. The only thing that scares me is that I am not super obese anymore so I don't know how my average body will react, will it shut down my metabolism? Make me unable to lose weight later? Make me gain if I try to eat regular cals? I started at 294, am currently 170 (lowest post-op was …

Hi Everyone: Been awhile since I posted. I have been approved and have done all the pre-req stuff and am having surgery on October 22, 2012. My doctor is Stanley Hoehn and I am thrilled to have finally reached this point in the "journey". I have done one week of the liquid diet and have one more week to go. Have to admit that I have cheated a few times with dill pickles, I am an addict!! Can't stay away from those things!! Anyway, don't think I have done much damage as the scale has continued to drop. Had my pre-op labs Friday morning and I see Dr. Hoehn on Monday for my pre-op visit and barring any probs with my labs, I should be ready to go. Keep your fingers and toes…

Hi all... I'm new to the forum, I hunted a talk group down to find out if anyone else has had the same problem. I'm 2 1/2 months out from my sleeve. I lost 48 lbs in the first 2 months. I haven't gained any weight the last 2 weeks, but I also haven't lost any. I've been very bad at getting in my 64 oz of Water, and I haven't been taking my Protein shakes like I was because the milk doesn't like me. Has anyone had the same problem of getting stuck? I've just started over the last couple of days thinking that it has to do with maybe my body hoarding water since I haven't been drinking enough, or even getting enough protein if my body needs it to get my metabolism g…

I just had my surgery on 10/2 and I've been doing great. But today I can't stop crying. I feel like my entire life is ruined. I hate watching tv because there is always commercials or people eating. I can't seem to get out of this funk now. I'm feeling like I made a really huge mistake. Maybe I could have done this entire thing with such drastic measures. I hate crying I have a 7 year-old little girl that I won't let me see down. But I can't stop. Sorry for such a pathetic post but no one else around me understands.

Holy crap first vacation after being sleeved 6 months ago. As you can tell from the title of this post, it was a little more challenging that I thought it would be. I gained 4 pounds, ate so much I am worried I stretched my sleeve. New Orleans had so many delicious foods and I had terrible will power. I was shocked, I thought my little tool would win but instead my freaking head did. Now it is going to take me a few weeks to undue what I did in 5 freaking days. Lesson learned, a "little bit" still can not be controled so it is best to just stay away from it.

OMG! So in my mind I thought 100 lbs lost would be nice! That would put back to my High school weight and I was not overweight then. But when the Dr set my goal yesterday I was taken aback. WHAT?! Really??! I think that someone else verbalizing your thoughts may scare you. Because Lawd knows I hate failure and now I have a standard to live up too. Im 3 weeks out and this is the final meals week before my pre op diet. Any suggestions on getting the biggest bang for my cuts?!LOL I have to do this and I have to do it well. Did you know pre op if you were going to be a slow loser?

I haven't been sleeved yet, but hope to in early December. Here is my question. For those of you who have lost 100 plus pounds, or are more than a year out of surgery...are you hungry? Does your hunger slowly come back? Thanks for your insite : )

I posted in Post Op, ( How Bad was it? ) before I saw this section. I have a band and considering switching to the sleeve. We all know about the sliming, tightness, hiccups, vomiting etc that comes with the band. What is life like with the sleeve? Any of the same problems as with the band?

So, I went on YouTube and was watching the sleeve procedure. That's ok. However, that led into looking at people's vlogs and some of them had quite a sigificant amount of excess skin. I have about 150ish pounds to lose and know that no amount of good genes, exercise etc. will keep me from having a bunch of excess skin. I just cannot believe what I've done to my body! It almost makes me say what's the point. I know logically what the point is. It's my health, my life but there is vanity in this too. I know there is surgery for that, but who know if and when I could ever afford that. This surgery alone is a lot. For those who have lost close to or more than what I need to…

So for the last 4 months I have had my.mind set on the band but lately I question if that is right for me. The one major thing that made me decide that I wanted the band was because of the risks. I really think I would be more successful with the sleeve due to the decrease in hunger, restrictive eating and watnot. What made you decide to go with the sleeve instead of other wls? Right.now I'm 5 7 and 342 lbs. Any and all advice would be greatly appreciated!!!!

So, I was having some severe sinus pressure, along with the hay fever itchy watery eyes, etc. I took some Lodrane that my doctor had prescribed from before surgery at about 5:00pm yesterday evening. At about 5:30pm last evening I was high as a March Kite, I assume the lodrane was a tak strong. Right now, I'm fuzzy/light headed, look pasty (so my co-worker told me) and I have the shakes. I ate this am, and last pm and have been trying to get some fluids in, but does anyone remotly have an idea? You know before I start freaking out.. I dont have diabetes or anything lilke that, or anything else for that matter... Thanks

This might be more of a rant but I would like to know your thoughts. I have a three month requirement for my insurance and I only have a few weeks left. I didn't mind at first that my insurance coordinator didn't return emails or voicemails because I knew I had 90 days left. But as time goes by and the 90 days is coming to an end, I've only gotten one email response all this time. I usually give up and call the main office if I think it's an answer someone else can handle (and they always do). All my interactions with the front office staff and surgeon have been great...but I hate feeling like I should be the one to pester the coordinator to at least return a call or emai…

I'm still wearing a 1X top though (blame on my tatas hahaha) but I started at size 2- 3X tops pre op so I'm pretty happy about that! I know I have a long way to go but I'm on my way folks! SO happy I got sleeved! the first pic is of me at Venice Beach just before surgery.. weighed 262 lbs there. the next 2 pics I took today while trying on the size 18 pants!!!!!! This weekend was Canadian Thanksgiving, and in 2 days i gained 3lbs. I grazed badly didn't have mashed potatoes or even turkey, but i snacked on crackers and cheese, chocolate. I'm afraid if i can gain so easily now when i get down to my goal i'll gain it all back. I'm finding I'm able to eat more than i should, i eat my meal get full real fast then 10mins i can eat more than another 10 mins eat more, I just cant stop grazing. I want to be able to eat and stay full. I know how to do this just old habits are popping up and it scares me. I'm 4months out and have lost 53lbs so not bad but i have 150lbs left to lose. Guess i better get back to basics I know this protei…

Have any of you whom have already been sleeved found that your relationship has changed, either for the better or worse? I read someones comment last night that said most relationships fail after gastric surgery because the partner that has lost weight now realizes that they deserve better treatment than what they have been receiving. I was wondering how much validity there was to that statement. Have any of you found that your relationship has improved since you started dropping the pounds?

I miss spicy food. As soon as I eat it, my chest is on fire. Before the surgery , I would eat jalapeños without a blank of an eye. Now I'm scared too even put a jalepeno by my month. I'm 9 weeks out, and fear eating lettuce. Hopefully, that will change soon. Add what you miss...

Looking forward to surgery. I am still trying to learn my way around on this site. It took me a week to learn how to put a picture on my profile page. I know only four members in this group so far. How many in Dallas, TX? Hopefully as the months get closer we will expanded our group!

I went to a seminar last night...it was good. I've been to one before like 3 or more years ago. I was surprised to see so many people there. I felt good/comfortable. The doctor and staff seemed nice. The insurance lady was so funny...she was like we will get you approved! they work with a special lawyer that goes after the insurance company for discrimination...interesting. Also they really dont do self pay..they will find some sort of insurance b/c if there is a complication at any point (even years down the road) an insurance company you may have currently will not pay b/c you had an uninsured procedure! (who knew?!!?!) Anyway..consultation next wed.
