Yep, I was never a wide until the last couple years as I gained weight. Looking forward to nice high shaft boots- although doing ballet as a child my calves are still over developed so it would be amazing to wear tall boots. We shall see. I'm grateful today. Things get better all the time!

Hey guys, I'm offically going on my 9th month and starting October I've lost about 100lbs. It's exciting and scary. This past month -- mostly the end of summer my eating habits havent been great. I went from not really eating at all. to now eating the wrong things. And now I'm worried about my restriction. I definitely still have some restriction but it's not as much as it used to be. and i feel i need that back. I've heard of people doing liquid diets to get their ristriction back. is this true? PLEASEEEEE HELP GUYS!. I really want to make this surgery as success and don't want to F**** it up.

I had my sleeve done in March (2012)(replacing a slipped lap band that was 1 1/2 yrs old) After the sleeve I got down to my goal pretty quick - I didnt have much left to loose so it was wonderful! After July we went on a road trip and I came back gaining back 10 lbs. I was horrified!! I started working out now, crossfit 6 days a week. I am seeing changes in my arms and muscles etc but the scale is killing me. I am now up 15 lbs and I am freaking out. I am convinced that I have completely stretched out my sleeve and will be overweight again very soon. What am i doing wrong???

Hi, I am so glad that I found the VSM app as its really helped inform my decision to opt for a sleeve. Met with the bariatric nurse last week with a view of having a lapband, she was great and laid out all the options. I hadn't heard about the sleeve before, my initial thoughts were OMG removing most of my stomach! Yes i went into panic mode & missed my connection that I need a 'tool' for life so a sleeve makes perfect sense. So the threads have been very very very informative. Thanks to all who share their experiences, it's calmed me down to no end. Meet the surgeon next week :-) Anyone had the op done at Spire in Edinburgh?

Hi, I began the WLS process with Kaiser in the beginning of August. I'm still a long ways off from surgery, but was wondering if Kaiser requires a pre-op diet? I need to lose 7 lbs. I was able to lose 2 pounds last month, but stress eating has got me putting the weight back on and then some. Is it a requirement to lose the weight prior to the surgery?

I'm 5 feet and weight 260 (BMI 51). I have sleep apnea, high blood pressure, achey knees, etc. My family history of heart conditions, obesity, and cancer on my father's side is not good. Five out of the seven children in his family have died of cancer. I somehow managed to get myself right in line to be just like him. I know that for me, this is medically necessary. I know it will almost immediately improve my health. I know that my children (ages 10 and 14) will have me around longer and that I will enjoy doing more things with them. I know I NEED to do this. But I am so scared. I'm not scared of the surgery itself but the long-term "living with the sleeve forever". Wha…

Well....I am 5 1/2 weeks post op....stalled for the last 2 weeks and am really trying not to get discouraged. I am still in what I am calling the "slop" stage - mushy foods and will be so glad to move into soft solids in a couple of weeks. I am in dire need to chew something...LOL! I have been getting all the protein required (60-80 grams daily), 400-600 calories a day, the majority of the water intake (52-70 ozs), and walking everyday (up to 3 miles a day for the last week). I am REALLY trying hard to stay positive so I had my husband hide the scales so I would not weigh myself everyday...LOL! Crazy right? But I guess whatever works. I am sure that this thing in m…

Hi guys! Ive been diagnosed with Lupus for 12 yrs now. I have a lot of joint pain and fatigue. So far I've lost 51 lbs in 11 weeks and I feel good about that. My main concern is exercise. When I do weight lifting even very light lifting I have horrible joint pain for days. Even being on the elliptical machine hurts my joints. Do any sleevers out there know what I am experiencing, and if so what do they do? I am so scared of not loosing anymore weight bc I can't tolerate exercise.

Hi everyone, I stumbled upon this group and feel it is where I belong. There is another on obesityhelp called lightweights that I look at but haven't signed up yet. So, i've been educating myself now for several months, wondering if this could work for me. There is no way I'd even dare post to other boards, I'd get eaten alive for "only" being 40-50 pounds overweight. Those people don't realize that even us "lightweighters" are carrying so much baggage that we might as well be 100+ lbs overweight. I have been overweight my whole life. Never have I remembered a time I felt normal. I have only been able to loose 20 pounds or so twice in my life (now 41) and never without…

Hi.....Went to my pre-op appointment today to sign for the procedure, get weighed, talk to the dietician, and go over the surgery with my surgeon. Mandatory here...then you get a call and told to come back for tests and given the pro-op diet, all this is usually done a month in advance! I was not there very long before I was told that my surgery is scheduled for Oct.1/12. I had to start pre-op diet immediately so I left the hospital and bought some diabetic boost that I have to take until the my Slim Time gets here from Montreal which I have to order first thing tomorrow morning. Then they tell me that I may be called back as early as Friday for the blood work. I co…

Hello friends I am new to this forum and I did not tell too many about this surgery. I am confident that the Lord will bring me through victoriously. I would appreciate any prayer even if it is just a short and simple one and even if you are just browsing and dont have time to respond to me. I know God listens to all prayer especially when more join in. My sugery is this Monday morning. My prayer is for the careful and skilled hands of the surgeon to prevail. That I will remain calm as well as my family. I ask for nothing less than a speedy recovery free of complications. Also that I can get out of the hospital in 2 days and be safe at home. Also that I will be …

I'm really excited for the weight loss I will have after I get surgery (August 28th woohoo!!), but I'm also excited about feeling confident and just doing things I haven't done... Like date! And I haven't been on a roller coaster since I was about 13. And I cannot wait to fit into this Ghostbusters Halloween outfit that I've been eyeing!!! What are some fun things you have been able to do since losing weight?

Hi all, Part of the reason for this is actually a little TMI but a lot of people seem to ask about constipation and a couple of alternative therapies I engage in seem to help with this. But also I'd love to hear what weird and wonderful things people have tried and/or are incorporating into their new lives! First homeopathy: I studied homeopathy in psychology at a Uni where the lecturer proceeded to eat a whole box of sleeping pills in front of us. However they were homeopathic. He said it was similar to eating a small mars bar! Now I consider homeopathy and it's principles to be quackery but I'd like to hear from others... Naturopathy: very different from above t…

So basically every time I get nervous of losing too much I write a post! It is so crazy that one day I am scared of gaining and the next scared of losing. I weighed 163 on my scale this morning which means on my doctor's scale and other scales I would be between 159 and 163. I wish there was a true scale. At 5'11" I am fine with where I am but for the past 4 months I have lost 4 pounds each month and my eating has been pretty consistent. I have been trying for the past two months too add more calories, but I do honestly believe since adding calories hasn't been consistent the change up in my routine has caused me to keep losing. I am still ok and feel like I could ge…

How is everyone doing? I am so excited that I am down 30 lbs. I weighed in at 173 yesterday, and the day before my surgery I was at 203. I hope everyone else is having such good results, It would be great to hear from everyone.

Good morning, and let me tell you it is a good morning. Just got on the scales and am down 22 lbs. with 39 to go. I can fit back into my smallest jeans I had when I lost my weight on my lap band and am 7 lbs away from my lowest weight on the band. Once I got past the rash, this has been the easiest process ever. I did both of my county fairs and have just now caught up on my sleep. Its time to start exercising, as I was unable to walk these last two and a half weeks. Today I start my two miles a day again. How is everyone else doing? Sorry I havent been communicating lately? lets hear from everyone. I think of all of you often.

This day has just been aweful. I went to my mom's to hang out this morning an she was baking choclate chip cookies! Um hello!!! I am on an all liquid diet, what are you doing??? Did she not realize the strength it took to watch that! I just feel like crying. I HATE going to the gym. I feel so out of place. I look like the cow in a field of twigs. I want to cancel my membership and just work out at home but my hubby wants me to keep going. It is so frustrating! My son who is two keeps trying to share all of his food with me (sweet that he is sharing, but frustrating that I can't eat it) and it breaks my heart. I just want to run away today. Sorry for the deppressing rant, …

So my friend and I went through with the surgery only weeks from each other. I was just sleeved on the 12th, so 6 days ago, and she was sleeved 3 weeks ago. She texted me a trick she did, she had said in the first weeks of the post op, when she was cooking for her family, she'd put the food item in her mouth and chew it (say a buffalo wing) and get the taste all inside her mouth, chew chew chew, and then spit it out, so it wasn't consumed at all or swallowed. What does everyone think of this? Safe? Harmful?

How is your new life? I am down 90 pounds, I just saw a 1 on the scale for the first time this week. 199.8 but I will take it. I admit I wasn't as good as I could have been for a few months, but I am back to seriously sticking to the program and I have seen the scale start to move again. On the other hand, even though the scale wasn't moving, my belt was. I have gone from a snug 50 waist pants to 38's that are now loose. My wife bought me some size L shirts that I argued with her were going to be too tight. They fit perfectly. My biggest victory though was at a family event I mentioned my weight to my 31 year old, very fit, son, I weigh 5 pounds more than he does…

Hey guys, I would like to know where were you all converted with the sleeve? I have a new surgeon and I don't believe that he has a lot of experience with bands. I heard that his main expertise was in doing virgin sleeves. When he told me that my band need to go, I asked him about the sleeve and he said "YES," I can do it. I felt bad about asking him that b/c I knew he wasn't going to say "No I can't". But for some reason I get the feeling that he isn't that comfortable doing band conversions and he has never done one before. Could everyone "Please" let me know how comfortable were you with your Dr. and where is that Dr. located. No matter how far, it would be worth it …

I am so excited and can't wait to begin living! I envision the transformation that is about to take place and can hardly contain myself! I begin my two week liquid diet on 7/26 and go for my pre op on 8/3. My biggest concern right now is my 2 week pre op liquid diet. I feel like I will be a walking time bomb during that time. Is anyone else having the same fear?
