Nsv... I Went From 5:45 Am To 5 Pm Without Using My Wheelchair...

Today was a milestone for me... I have used a motorized chair off and on for 5 years ..but all day/every day (24/7) for the last 3 years...Reason: i have had 2 back surgeries (have some disc fused) & have arthritis in my back, hips and knees (to name a few) ...Doctor wants to replace both my knees, but that's another post. :)

Since my WLS, i have tried to walk a bit everyday...at first, just around the island in the kitchen... Then from one end of the house to the other... Last Monday i added short, slow walks outside with my husband...(he would ride in my motorized chair in case i needed it). The walks gave me the confidence i needed...

Today, when i woke up, i said, "lets see how long we can go today without using the chair." well, i went from 5:45am to 5 pm...i was so happy, i cried when i told my husband after he got home from work... (he thought i hurt myself...sweet man, so caring)

Physically, I am very sore....but mentally i feel GREAT!

Thank you for listening :)

Vjslim and southern Oregon ... Thanks for all the supportive words... They all help me through this adventure ... :)

Congratulations on an amazing achievement - I too have arthritis and some days are simply agony, hoping that all of our sore joint heal as we lose more lbs.

Today i am SORE SORE SORE ...but... I am not in my wheelchair...

I am finding places to rest the joints sooner today than yesterday .... :)

Due to the pain, i am going to take 1 hour at a time....my goal is "2 days without my wheelchair"

I love my sleeve!!!!! (((BTW ...i lost 2 pounds.... Can we say "motivation")))

Tjmom I am so happy for you! This is very moving and words just can't express the joy I feel for you!

Many many more blessings to come :)

Tuesday i went until 5 pm before i needed my chair... I have to admit i was/am pretty proud of myself... 2 days in a row with 10 - 12 hours of mobility!!!

Last night was another story, about 8 pm my left calf started getting charlie horses ... about 3 in one hour... my left knee is the one that hurts me the most, so not a restful night...

in fact, i finally got out of bed (tossing and turning so much, trying to find a pain free position)... and went to the living room to watch TV... so when Russ got up at 5:30 i fixed Breakfast : poached egg and bacon...

Russ left for work at 6:30 and i am going to try this "sleep" thing again... (today i think sleep, is highly over rated)...

everyone have a great day!

Oh that is the greatest news! I am so excited for you. Keep up the good work.

Tjmom, you are doing great! Your resolve to have a better life is incredible. So inspiring to see you come so far so fast.

Just remember, when you push yourself this hard it's a lot like weight training. Your body needs a bit of a break to heal between workouts. Also I would greatly recomend deep tissue massages, they hurt like hell, but they help so much with circulation to your muscles, and thus speed your healing process.

Keep up the great progress.

That is fantastic! Congratulations!

Julie, O.T.R. and Aaron....thank you for your encouragement...

O.T.R. i didn't think about it in that way..weight training ! i have a friend who does massage, and i am sure she knows deep tissue massage and will work on my legs if i ask... great suggestion... :)

I'm actually crying here for you!! I remember when you posted that your goal was to get out of that wheelchair! WOW!!! I'm so thrilled for you! That's an amazing NSV, just totally amazing!!! :) (((Hugs)))

That is amazing. :joytears:

Sent from my iPad using VST

Congrats! Now that is a tangible NSV!

I look forward to seeing your post when you finally donate the chair to a charity because you no longer need it :)

That is the best NSV ever!!! So happy for you!!

And thank you for sharing hope.
