I had surgery Oct 12th, I am down a total of 48 lbs (including my peril diet) which I am excited about. I went from and 18/20 to a 14 pants size. My problem is..I do not know how to take a compliment. I went to the dentist for my regular cleaning and was shocked that they all knew I had the surgery. (I have only told a few people) I work for an orthodontic office so I believe that someone from my office shared the news. I am not ashamed of me having the surgery, but when I walked in all of the girls came out to "check me out" .. it was like I had a new baby. lol! I was so uncomfortable! I would have loved to just run out. Last night I went to a wrestling meet and peo…

Now the funny thing is a stereotype mean girl is blonde skinny big ego....and except for the blonde, if that was us we wouldn't be on LBT. We are here to ask, give, and receive from each other. How about if you don't have something nice to say, SHUT UP. The new people deserve better. And to the new people, don't let a few bad apples scare you off. Welcome, I'm banjo257, I am waiting to be banded and I would love to give a pat on the back to anyone that is deserving, a hand to pull up anyone that has fallen, and a foot to, well you get the idea.

So, I have been a little distant! why you ask? At first it was just stuff and busy-ness. I am happy to say I have my nurse assesment on monday followed by my nutrition class. I pick up my Optifast that day and start on tues. After that is one more dr's appointment and then surgery on the 26th. I was all excited to have a pre-holiday feast this weekend, since Iwill be on Optifast through the holidays. My dad and brother may or may not be coming and I wont know until later today. The thing that stinks is that Tuesday I went to get the mail and fell and fractured my big toe in three places and my other toes were injured in the process. So now I cant do much of anything :(A…

  14. Well we were all set for Surgery this Month until the Insurance Company called and said I needed a mandatory 6 Month Diet and Exercise program. I don't understand how when I called the benefits department in Aug they didn't know about this requirement, but all my paperwork from the Surgeon goes in for approval and Walla this missed requirement is now my denial for Surgery. I attended my first class Nov. 30th and my second class Dec 3rd, have 4 to go. My final meeting with Surgeon is April 5th so hopefully Surgery soon afterwards. The kicker for me is my deductible has been met for this year, now with this extension I must meet a $3000.00 again. Frustrated but not defeat…

Hi my name is Crystal and I am 37 yrs old. I have been married to my best friend for 18 years. We have 2 very active boys that are 14 and 6. I have been over weight my whole life. I have a very high BMI and sleep apnea. I started this journey in August of this year and have 2months of monitored weight checks and a physiologist visit to go before they send to insurance for approval. I am really nervous about this. I have visited this site just about every day for the past few months and finally decided to join. I love reading all the journeys of everyone. I pray that everyone has continued success.

  20. My sleeve journey has been so smooth that I am embarrassed to talk about it! Never been nauseous, very little pain, no adverse reaction to any food. Life is very good but I seemed to be able to eat plenty of calories each day, woke up looking forward to my diluted orange juice and vanilla protein shake (tasted just like creamsicyles from my childhood), greek yougurt with my chia seeds, marina sauce on my spaghetti squash, etc. Everything was great but I realized that I was eating too many calories even tho it was mainly protein. I had hit a plateau in my weightloss but was not gaining any back. I gave up my wonderful breakfast protein shake, my Greek yougurts with th…

I am 3 months out and just got back from lunch with a work associate and even though I am 3 months out I still order way to much food...... Or maybe its I cant eat as much so no matter what I order I have to take 3/4 of it to go , which usually ends up getting thrown away since I don't like left overs..... So for lunch I ordered a" Pho" salad and a fresh spring roll (which was only 2 pieces of shrimp and the rest was vegtables).... after eating the spring roll I was totally full and couldnt even touch my salad and meat , so I got that to go but will probably not eat it for dinner and throw it away. Its so much food it would take me 4 days to eat it all and that…

She also said give it a few days and start calling the insurance company. Bugging them can make the approval process quicker. So now I can breathe a partial sigh of relief and know at least the ball is rolling..Hopefully no problems. Fingers crossed! Ready to start a new, healthy life.

Follow up on the 10th showed I was dehydrated so I got two bags of Fluid and went home. 11th I was trying to get all my liquids is and after second bottle of Water I had chills so bad so I took temp and have a mild temp of 100.5 (230 pm). By 315 my temp was up to 102.8 so I called Dr and they asked me to come in. 2 more bags of fluid later my temp was not down and my heart rate was staying steady at 114-116 so they admitted me to hospital. Catscan revealed an air pocket outside the stomach that fluids were going into and then back. Now I have a picc line for nutrition/hydration and standing by to see if it will heal itself. …

For those of you that are on or have been on the pre-op diet, are you/did you lose? I lost a couple of pounds the first few days and have not lost since. I'm drinking protein and eating my one lean protein meal at night. I only cheated once and it wasn't that bad at all. I thought I would be losing more. I'm a bit discouraged and am nervous. I have surgery on the 20th. My doctor didn't say I had to lose any specified amount of weight prior to surgery, just that I had to do this diet. I'm interested in your experiences with the pre-op diet.

Then week 2 started and while I struggled the first day to get my protein in the next 3 I was able to 60 or above without too much trouble, in fact on day 10 from surgery day I got 600 calories in! Then comes yesterday, day 11 and I can't eat ANYTHING! I tried a protein shake couldn't finish but a 4th of it and I felt sick, I tried unflavored protein in a smooth soup got two bits in and felt sick, I tried a greek yogurt bar, which i had been anle to eat all of a f…

It's just that I have lost and regained the same 30 lbs. over & over again for the past few years. I've had almost zero trouble since being sleeved, and I'm thrilled with the result. My biggest problem is that I am not supposed to drink while I'm eating. This has caused me a LOT of trouble. In the beginning, post-surgery (April 4, 2012) nearly everything was liquid anyway, so it wasn't an issue. Now, three months later, I find myself gagging and having great difficulty swallowing more than 1 or 2 bites of "real" food because I can't even take a sip of Water. This means that I'm not actually getting anywhere near the minimum number of calories the doctor says I need, but I can apparently choose to eat OR drink. I've tried all sorts of different things, but I'm current…

Here's my issue, I've lost 30 lbs a hundred times or more and every time gained it back. And while my brain knows I'm not going to gain this back, I can't bring myself to get rid of the too big clothes in my closet bc I'm scared I'm going to need them again! I mean I know I won't, but my head hasn't caught up with my brain.
