Hi everyone I am having surgery on 1/16/12. I was hoping someone could help me decide between the lap band and realize band.

This question is often asked. My suggestion would be to research on line the two choices and see for yourself the differences. Between my on line searches and a candid conversation with my Doctor I went with the lap band. But, please for your own peace of mind, do your own research and see for yourself!

Good luck in your journey!

Here is a side by side comparison of the two. http://www.wlshelp.com/lap-band-vs-realize-band.html

I have the Realize band and I really chose it because it was my Doctors preference. I decided long ago I wanted him as my Surgeon and I trusted him. So I went with what he was more comfortable with and what he thought was best for me.

I was banded April 2012 and everything was smooth sailing. No difficulties during the surgery or post surgery.

I too am going with the Realize band based on my doctors preference.

I have the realize band too. My dr said it takes a little longer to reach the green zone but it is a more flexible band and the port is flatter. I didn't want a cone striking out of my tight abs ;)
