So, we finally got the word from our surgeon's office that our files are being submitted to insurance. We stopped by the office to be weighed. My fabulous son who started this journey at the beginning of October with me weighed then at 429...he is down 29 pounds! I am over-joyed for him. I'm only down four but truth be told I haven't tried overly hard. Now I'll step it up. It's very exciting. Good luck to all of us.

So let me start by saying this , I got the lap band to improve my quality of life. Because I have PCOS ( Poly Cystic ovarian syndrome ) and migraines I am at greater risk of things like stroke, diabetes and high blood pressure as it is. Being over weight adds to that. So I wanted the band to reduce that risk BEFORE anything bad happened to me. I am a mother of 2 boys who need me . After I first got the band things were great, I could eat what i wanted, just smaller portions and occasionally threw up after eating too much , or so I thought .. I even changed the way I ate, what i ate , i felt better so I ate better. I was , as you can ask my doctor , the model patient, i …

Hi, I'm Pam. I'm hoping to have surgery in January or February of 2013. The wait is due to a change in insurance coverage at the first of the year. I'm 5'0 and weigh 210 pounds. I'm excited to be here and just by reading I already feel like I know some of you. I'm so excited to begin on this journey! Pam

Hi everyone! My name is Lizzy (or Elizabeth ) and I'm new here. I live in Des Moines, IA and I'm 32 years old. I'm considering lapband due to my extreme weight (I'm 476 lbs at 5'7'') and also my health problems (severe sleep apnea and starting to show symptoms of diabetes.) I actually auditioned for The Biggest Loser a few years ago but never got a call back. Probably for the best. I think Jillian would've made me cry pretty quickly. LOL So anyway... Nice to be here! I attached a photo of myself. I know I have my work cut out for me.

Hi my name is Roxanne. I'm new to this site and have a few questions. I'm 37 and my BMI is 42. I'll be attending my first seminar on Sat. I've heard the process is quite lengthy and there are many hoops to jump through. But....I've also heard that if you have a BMI over 40 its not as difficult. Just wondering if there's any truth to this and any info is greatly appreciated. Thanks Sent from my ADR6410LVW using LapBandTalk

Hi to all, I have been reading posts made by everyone for a couple of months now and my insomnia has finally lead me to post a little about me... I recently began my WLS journey. I attended the discovery seminar, the welcoming meeting, and my first appointment with the dr and dietician. My insurance covers the surgery but I do have to do the six month supervision prior. It seems like a life time away. I am going to admit to you all I am terrified of failing. I have failed at so many other things... Can I do this and be successful forever? I have become so ashamed of my appearance and weight that I have alienated myself from so many people I feel sort of alone in th…

Good morning everyone. I started a new group and I'm hoping some of you will join. I started California Bandsters. I've noticed there are lots of people from the East Coast on here, but I haven't seen many from the West, specifically California. I'm hoping to find some "locals". Have a great day!

Hey everyone! I'm new to this group, I haven't had surgery yet, and quite honestly I don't know when my surgery will be scheduled for. I am getting nervous. I feel like I have been at this for ages, but I know that's me just being impatient. The program I am in is pretty intensive (don't get me wrong, that's a good thing-- I am getting so much info) but it is exhausting. I have had to go to orientation, 2 appts with my coordinator, one with my surgeon, 2 appts with a dietician, 2 support groups, and EGD, board of surgeon approval, had to lose 5% of my weight, and do an online education course...and now I have to do my psych eval and pre-op education before I can even …

I had my surgery Monday (gastric bypass). I had this great idea that by doing it over Thanksgiving, it would be easier - kids out of school, husband home etc. I was so busy making it easy for everyone else, I didn't really plan for me. With everyone home, it's hard to rest and I'm really mourning food, which I hadn't expected. Although I have zero desire for any food, I am wondering if I made the right decision. I'm dizzy, and feel pain with every sip of liquid. Anyone else have a similar experience or going through anything similar?

Hi I was banded 2 years ago. Had a baby last year and got my first fill 2 weeks ago since giving birth. My highest fill is currently 4.8. I've yet to start dropping weight consistently. I have a personal trainer and practice a healthy diet most of the time. I'm thinking about taking Phentermine for a boost. Has any one taken supplements with the band?

Hello, I'm new to this site and could definitely use some support. I've never really had a weight issue until I had my daughter 9/2011. Of course it's all worth it but now I'm extremely depressed and bury myself at home because I hate the way I look. I'm really looking forward to the WLS and to making new friends on this site...

Hi everyone, I am new here, i have posted on another site frequently, but they don't seem to have an app... Anyhow, i am 2.5 yrs post op, lost all my weight, no problems or complications, so yay! That's great and i have been very happy. My husband and i decided to have a baby back in April, and I had no trouble getting pregnant. I am currently 7 mos pregnant. I am getting worried though, at this point i am ahead of schedule, already gained 30 pounds. I can honestly say i have been eating as i should, only a few craving caves here and there. Did anyone else exparience this and bounceback ok after having the baby? Also, i have no idea how many calories i should be eating a…

My sleeve date was Nov. 19th! I'm home and learning about my new life. Before my surgery it helped to read the different post about the surgery and take all that information in. So I'll add two cents! The weekend before surgery I was getting pretty antsy. My husband took care of that! Movies, church, manicures and pedicures...he was with me and kept me busy and he kept telling what a good choice I was making...love him. Morning of surgery in the hospital by 6:30 for baseline blood work. Oh dear, maybe a little dehydrated...maybe a little nervous but I almost passed out while they were drawing blood. So drink up and don't look...it's never bothered me before but it di…

Okay so I know we are not suppose to ever drink again according to the doctors and dieticians because its empty calories and you apprently get drunk quicker. Can anyone who had this surgery a while ago tell me when its okay to try something? Im not a huge drinker anyways but I use to go out like 2 times a month with my friends to the bar and have a few drinks and im just wondering when I could try that again and how much can a sleeve patient drink and what should I drink? Any recommendations would be awesome! *Jess*

Hi everyone! I'm so happy to find this site. I've been overweight since birth. I used to say that I was the healthiest fat person around....and then it hit. Basically it hit my joints and back. My glucose was 90, triglycerides were 36! Doctors couldn't believe it. Then my ankle gave out, my knee, bone spurs, etc I live in Lebanon....as in Beirut, Lebanon....not Lebanon PA or NH. Actually I live in south Lebanon and had my surgery in Beirut. After reading so much about VSG online, I can tell you that things sure are different here pre and post surgery. I've read that many people go to Mexico and have a coordinator. I had thought that there is no way that I'…

I had my sleeve done on November 5th. My concern is from day one of my surgery, I've experienced a "tightness" in my throat. At first I thought it was from drinking too fast but I wake up in the morning with the same feeling. I also had a hiatal hernia repair with my sleeve. I'm beginning to get concerned as to what is causing this and whether or not it will go away.

I have been reading a lot on here but, posted very little. This site has been very helpful. My surgery is scheduled for Nov. 26th. I had to go through a 7 month process to get to this point. I am currently on a 10 liquid diet and so far I have done really well on it. I have only told close family members a 2-3 friends. I have only told one co-worker and will be taking vacation time for my surgery. I have run into so many people who are negative about this process and chose not to tell. I know that their negativity comes from ignorance about this procedure. I don't make snap decisions and have researched this procedure for years. I feel that this is the best decision for m…
