Hey I' m finally getting my operation after years in the works. I'm 320 right now and although I want to lose weight, I can't really imagine myself " unround" lol. I find myself checking women out saying " I wouldn't mind being that size or is it possible for me to be that size?" I think I'm driving myself crazy....

I am new and also considering the lap band. I would appreciate some feedback as what to expect and are you happy with your decision. I am 30 yrs old, my BMI is 39.2 and I'm insulin resistant, with shortness of breath episodes. So I'm not sure if I would qualify for the surgery.

Hi everyone! So, I'm a 30 something, single, female waiting to find out about insurance approval- my clinic said probably by Friday... I have diabetes and high cholesterol so I hope it'll go through. I'm anxious and nervous and worried lol I'm so ready to start and feel like I'm going thru some kind of "goodbye" to favorite foods. I've been researching and reading everything I can find. I feel confident this is right for me and think I'm ready to make those changes I need to... Just ready to stop waiting and go! Looking for a good support team- I want to do this right and use it as the tool that it is to becoming healthy... So just an intro... good to meet everyone

There are different things that spark a person's interest in having weight loss surgery. I can honestly say there were different instances that began my journey, but I can't exactly remember which one. What I can remember is finally saying to myself that I I need to do something about this weight I'm carrying around. I was initially interested in the lap band and began that process around 2010. I did everything I was supposed to until a meeting with the psych doc pushed everything back. It wasn't because I was crazy, it had to do with the fact I was on medication for anxiety and she felt I was a risk. I decided after going through all the appointments, that I would lose t…

Got on the scale this morning and hit my 60 lbs mark. Sugery was Aug. 1st. I never in my wildest dreams thought I would be at this point. It's starting to slow just a bit but I'm so content with that now. I can't remember when I was at this weight. Maybe when I got married almost 30 years ago. This has been the best decision I've ever made! It's been alot of hard work but boy oh boy has it paid off. I work in 10 lb increments and that seems to be a very manageable way of looking at it. Watch out 70 lbs, here I come!!!

Well, after 2 years of contimplating this I went for my consultation today!!!! The amazing thing is that I have really good insurance and and was pre-approved (of course pending pre-op consults) and scheduled surgery for January 11th. Wow, now what? It is it normal to have the fears of the worst things that could happen run through your mind? That is what has held me up for the last 2 years, now it is a reallity and it makes those fears grow. Of course the reason for the fears are the exact same reasons I want to go ahead with surgery, family, health etc..... If someone can let me know this is normal and everyone goes through it, maybe I can rationalize it a little b…

I just got my band done 6 days ago. It's been quite an adjustment. I hate this liquid diet. I feel like I am starving!!

  13. Let me start by acknowledging that I know I'm lucky that I haven't had any issues before now. Today's dinner of just over an ounce of baked salmon and 3 slices of pre packaged apple slices with a tsp of peanut butter pretty much sent my mouth sliming almost immediately. About ten minutes later, up she came. The bright side? I was impressed with how well I chewed my dinner.

Besides paying $70-$100 for one bra that isn't even all that cute, I can finally wear dressy shirts to work that don't look so provocative Dieting! This probably should've been #1 on my list. Trying to get my clear fluids in, but having a rough time. Hoping to start feeling human again soon. Anyone care to give me a pep talk, because I could sure use one right now! I'll start to feel better soon, right?

One week to go, I'm hoping that after nearly 40 years of dieting (unsuccessfully obviously) that I may have the solution. I feel that I have been in a battle with food for ever, and never feel full or content. I'm hoping that this will provide the answer. I don't want to be skinny just to be able to go into regular shops and buy clothes, and to be able to book to go on a plane or to the theatre without worrying if I'll manage to sit comfortably or do the belt up.

I have been banded since Nov 5th. The first night after my surgery, I had reflux and heartburn so I called my surgeon's office and they removed about 3ccs from the band. I continued to have gastric issues 5 days post op so I asked the surgeon to remove all of my fill. I have lost 21 pounds at my 4 week visit and am still losing (slowly)... I do not have any restriction and I do not have any issues now. It seems lately like I can eat more at each sitting (more than the recommended 1 cup). I have my next follow-up appointment on January 4th, 2013. Thoughts on getting a fill even if I am still losing?

I remember always looking at before and after pictures of people and feeling happiness for them, jealousy, hopelessness, and that it was a dream. I finally believe I can be that person! I weight 282 right now. I made a decision to have the lap band at first, but I switched to the sleeve. I can't imagine what it will be like to shop in the sizes under 1x,3x...plus sizes! So, I am now down 37 lbs. & right on the border of going into the 370's. Don't get me wrong, I am happy for every pound that comes off. Every pound down is me a pound healthier & a step in the right direction. I just have been in the 380's on my own before in the past year, but was never able to break into the 370's. I began thinking about WLS over a year ago. This past summer, I began the process. I spent many, many hours reading these boards and learning more than I ever thought I'd know about being sleeved and living a sleeved life. I started by attending an information seminar hosted by my surgeon in July. I had my one-on-one consultation with him in September. I began my adventure of hoop-jumping: two psych visits, two nutrition visits, two sleep studies (one with CPAP after OSA dx), EGD, upper GI, pulmonary check, cardio check... I learned I had high blood pressure, type 2 diabetes, as well as obstructive sleep apnea. All the more reason to have this procedure. When I was almost…

I'm ready for the lifestyle change, the new relationship with food, getting recommitted to exercise, and losing all of this weight. I'm ready to get me back. Well, it's been a year today since my surgery. I feel great and am down 98 pounds. 102 lbs down per the surgeon scale. I count the loss from when I started the preop diet. There are many things that I remember that led me down this path of weight loss surgery. Why I did what I did. I felt horrible for one. I was so depressed and nearing 300 lbs. I didn't want to do anything, but sit on the couch. I didn't even have the energy to play with my kids. I hated myself and pretty much just gave up on life. I felt like I was going to be fat forever. My back, hips, knees and even my legs hurt. I felt like my ankles were going to break when I would walk down the steps. M…

Hi folks, I started this journey a few years ago when I was still living in Boston. I was looking into the duodenal switch and the closest surgeon who did anything other than the Lap Band or Roux-N-Y was in New York City so I drove down and fell headfirst into the WLS world. My life was a bit of a mess at the time and after the initial appointment, I never actually took the next step in the process and things just stalled out. Fast forward to last summer. I decided I needed to shake things up in my life a bit so a few days after my 45th birthday and with my employer's OK to work remotely, I loaded up the truck and I moved to Beverly...
