Ladies and gentlemen....friends I have made and friends I have yet to meet, I want to that you all for this site and the sharing of your experiences. I'm not nervous...merely excited to get it over with. As of Thursday I was down a total of 37 pounds preop. And that's without any exercise...due to my bad ankle. If anyone else is near Allentown, PA and using Lehigh Valley or Dr. Harrison please get in touch with me. I wish you all the beat of success. Jeff

Had surgery around 1ish this afternoon and YIPPEE! Everything has gone perfectly! I don't even need pain meds.. Although, I will take one as soon as I'm done writing just so I can sleep in a steange bed. I'm getting very antsy and want to leave. Been up and walking so much the dr asked me to settle down.. Hehe! Don't get me wrong, I am sore, but it's like a good sore after a work out. Only iv Fluid for now and haven't eaten anything for 36 hrs and have no hunger pains or desire to eat. My daughter has brought in plenty food for herself and it didn't phase me in the least. YIPPEE AGAIN! Praying the easy time and sucess with having sleeve surgery continues.

  6. Started by Oliver's Mom,

Today's my 2 week anniversary. All has gone and continues to go well - but for some unknown reason today I feel a little 'blue'. In the past I would self soothe with snacking (crunchy things like chips or popcorn) . I'm not craving any of that food but just feeling at odds with how to deal with the feelings without my old crutch. Since I started my journey I have lost 30 lbs but more importantly, I am off my diabetes medications and only take 1/2 of one of my HBP meds. Has anyone else had some feelings of sadness following their surgery? Maybe its the general feeling of the country following the tragic attack in CT, maybe I'm tired, maybe it's a normal post op fee…

We have to start the liquid diet 5 days before surgery...any good suggestions on things other than protein shakes & broths?

Hi everyone! My name is Mandy and I'm 31 years old. I'm married, and mom to 3 daughters. I began the process to have the lapband in March of 2012, and completed all requirements in November. I received my insurance approval after only 7 days, and have been given a surgery date of February 1st....seems sooo far away, but it will be here before I know it!! Looking forward to this journey, and following others who are on this same journey as well.

  10. So they just scheduled my gastric bypass surgery today I'm really nervous but I'm so excited at the same time I just can't wait to get out of surgery until I feel. I just feel like the surgery can be what I've been waiting for my whole life a chance in the world to be skinny to be happier I'm happy but I could be happier.

I just found this page and am thrilled to have found it. I am doing my preop as of yesterday and it has gone pretty smooth--not bad at all. I have been pretty hard on myself the last 2 months in order to lose the weight I needed to be able to have surgery before years end. Made my goal that my insurance required as of November 26th and my surgeon set my date. I am having my surgery @ Cendar Park Regional in Austin. They have a great staff and bariactric staff there---it has made this the best decision of my life. I will post more after I am back home after my surgeryl.

I have my surgery on the 17th of this month! My surgeon is Dr. Vierra in Monterey California. I have a meeting with a nurse tomorrow to get my exact time and everything. I'm super excited! I'm 20 years old and my Doctor recommend I join a forum so here I am! I'm a college student and I'm hoping to get into the nursing program soon. Within a year or two. My mother, two aunts, my grandpa, and two of my cousins have had the gastric bypass so I have a lot of support at home.

Okay I understand that I'm not as heavy as a lot of sleevers but I want to lose weight too. I had the surgery 11/9 and I've only lost 25 lbs. Trust me I'm grateful; however, I've been at this weight for over a week. I've read post where no exercise take place and these people have lost 30lbs +. I'm drinking water, eating nothing but protein and walking an average of 18 miles per week. I'm crying because I feel like something is wrong. I'm even fighting the hungry that I sometimes feel. I can't talk to my family because they don't understand because they can see my weight loss. Can anybody relate to what I'm saying?????

I just looked again at post-op diet & realized these are technically suppose to be started during pureed foods. has anyone else made this mistake?

On Nov 27,2012 and its been harder than I expected. My first week after surgery I had difficulty with clear liquids. Water didn't settle well and neither did crystal light. I drank my broth and protein shakes and had to drink children fruit juice. I found that diluted apple juices and decaf mint tea work for me the best. So fast forward to week 2 my dr put me on soft foods which I was so excited. I yet found soft foods that agree with me. Which isn't too good because I'm afraid to try other stuff. I found that low fat cream of chicken and mash potatoes don't upset my new stomach. I tried ground chicken and it don't work. (Chicken used to be my favorite meat). And to get …

Hi everyone, I'm Rebekah and I'm having my surgery this coming Monday. I'm hoping this procedure will help launch me onto a happier and healthier lifestyle. I started researching WLS after seeing Lauren Manzo (Real Housewives of New Jersey) and her success....it was like it dawned on me that I didn't have to be older and 500 pounds to do this so I got the ball rolling right away. So here I am...all prepared...I feel I've coped well with coming to terms with all the change this will bring but the past few days I've been alternating between being excited and being really sad and scared. I am very very nervous but so ready, my decision is made and I am at peace with it. I will post everything when it's all over...Tuesday is surgery date, and will be in hospital Mon through Wed. I have this really weird fear that while under anestheisia I will be able to feel everything pain wise but I won't be able to move or wake up. I know it's totally irrational...but I think that is what I am dreading the most-actually going under. Anyways, I'll let you guys know how it all goes

Like....10 days from today. Whoa. I've thought about this a lot, I know this is the right decision for me, and I've been working towards this goal for months now. But man, 10 days from now? That's the day after Christmas. I haven't even finished my shopping yet! I'm already behind! Sorry, don't want to be freakin out. I am, though. Little bit. I've never had any type of surgery before, so that's not helping. Even more embarrassingly, I'm a nurse. I should know better, right? Anyhow,…

Hello Everyone! Today is my surgical consult! I attended a seminar with my wonderful husband on November 24th. We both realized that day that surgery was the best choice for me. My insurance requires a 3 month post op diet and if I am approved will cover 80%. I have struggled with my weight my entire life. I am 5'8 and at one point 10 years ago I was able to make it to 175 on my own. It has slowly edged up to over 300 in spite of all of the diet plans I have tried. I have done Jenny Craig, Atkins, Low Calorie, South Beach, appetite suppressants and weight watchers too many times to count!! Each one would give me success only for me to gain in back and then some!…

I had fills, but never seemed to have the right amount or I would completely neglect to follow my rules. This November I developed a bad bout of Reflux (which I had prior to the surgery and subsided up until this Nov). Since then I have established that my band did not slip, had all the fluid removed, started on a stronger PPI (Dexalant) and find drinking EAS & fluids make me not feel miserable.
