Nervous Or Chicken???

Hi...my name is Nadine. I have a surgery date of Oct 11th. Starting this process was easy for me. I made up in my mind that I no longer wanted to be heavy and have my knees hurt all the time. Half of my family is type 2, and I didnt want that for myself. But now that my surgery is only 3 days away I dont know how I feel. Am I nervous or just chicken (scared to change)??? And this 5 day clear liquid diet is not making things any better. I have no energy and im dizzy all the time. HELP!!!

the fear of the unknown will make you weary

sure you can read the posts on here about the surgery

and the post ops but until you do it yourself, you really

have no idea

if you are scared to change (by changing what you eat and how much) then you will not do very well. the band will only (help you) but in turn you must help the band......the diet is to prepare your body and yes i felt dizzy and tired also. hence the Protein shakes to help with the tired feeling. that is your fuel right now.

just take a breath

relax.....dont overthink the situation

you are doing the hard part right now (along with the post op)

if you follow the dr's orders, how can you fail??

its not a will power thing as i dont believe in that

its a want too power..

you got this.....if you want it

((hang in there okay))

Msdropinoff,

You will be fine. I had my band surgery oct 5- 4 days ago. Just remember that after the surgery your only goal is to relax and heal, it's not to look at or worry about the scale. That will come in time.

I'll be cheering you on from central Cali!

I was so excited until the day before then so nervous I could of thrown up...the fear of the unknown...but this will be the best decision you have ever made for yourself...I cannot tell how wonderful it is to feel healthy again...good luck and am so excited for you...

Thanks everyone for your answers and support. I just called my surgeons office and they said I can add protein to water. So I can make it until Oct 11th. And I guess your right this pre-op diet will get me ready for the post-op diet. Thanks again:)

Thanks so much...sometimes it good to hear from someone who just went through it. And good luck to you too!!!:)

I think the post of diet is the craziest thing...after I got out of surgery and was so ready to go home...the nurse told me I had to drink 8 oz. of water, eat some broth, and walk for 1 hour before they could release me...so she brings in these medicine cups that hold 2 oz..and said I had to drink 4 of them...I told her ok yeah I think I can handle that...thinking I would throw it back and be out of there...well let me tell you it took me 8 hours to sip 8 oz. of water...I have never felt so full in all my life...it is like after surgery you have no interest in the love of food anymore it is just something you do out of necessity...birthday dinners and dinners out are so not the same for a banded person...and for once in my life I dont plan my day around when I will eat...it is an amazing journey...

Congratulations....I was just banded on 9/10...I was very nervous as well....but you will be fine...best wishes

Nadine, I couldn't wait to see how you handled your surgery. I wanted to skip ahead and see but all the posts were interesting. I am glad you did well. I had a band with plication on 10/9/12. I didn't think they would release me from the hospital because I couldn't drink what they suggested I should. I also had a hiatal huernia repair. Once I was home it was great! I was more comfortable and was able to drink most of what they suggested and in the first 5 days lost 8 lbs. My dr puts us on stages of diets and I am getting ready for stage 3 on tuesday. I have an appt with him on Thursday and I cannot "weight" to see the numbers! I was talking to my son this morning and we both realized my ankles are thinner! I will enjoy following your journey. Best of luck to you!
