  1. I'm only 18 and weight about 285 . I have 2 sons one is 1 the other is 2 and they are 11months apart! Ya tell me about it lol! But before my first child I weigh 157 and felt great ,but now I can't even get out of bed I struggle to do everything even my sex life with my husband sucks . I just want to make sure I'm here for a long time for my ill boys and I can't wait for my husband to see the new me I'm going thru the nix lap and hospital with dr.wright in San Antonio tx and tomorrow I go to my first visit to start my 6 month diet which my insurance requires so I guess I will be have my surgery in the end of June I can't wait to start and get to the old me I know it will b…

  2. I heard about VSG over 2 years ago and finally took the steps towards having surgery by attending a seminar in May 2012. (I hope Iggychic reads this because this is another story of a "Bariatric Center of Excellence") There was only one doctor at this hospital's "BCE" and he conducted the seminar. I made an appointment and had a three-hour appointment in July: 1 hour with doc, 1 hour with NUT and 1 hour with social worker/mental health person. At the time, my insurance was Cigna. Cigna reduced the wait time to three months instead of six. Yeah! Finished my 3 nutrition classes in November and scheduled surgery for December 17th, so my sister could be out with me to…

  3. Hi Everyone, I'm new to all this. I was banded on Jan 3. I am exactly one week post op and am recovering fairly well. I'm ready to be recovered, but I know it's a process. Two more weeks of liquids is not looking too apealing, but I'm committed. I have about 80-100 pounds to lose. I doubt my ability to do this, but if I follow the rules, I know I'll stay on the right track. Has anyone else ever doubted their ability? I have failed so many times on my own, I have real hope for the first time, yet that old voice in my head keeps bothering me! Grace.

Hello! I am new to this forum and to the Lap-Band. I also am not real familiar with or adept at social networking. That said, I do recognize that I could use the extra information and support that this platform can provide. I have been overweight my entire life and many years ago reached a place of "size acceptance". For me that meant loving who I am, regardless of my physical appearance. I have not let my weight hold me back from getting what I want in life and being the best "me" that I can be. Once I reached that point I at least stopped gaining and riding the roller-coaster of diets. So here I am - having made the tough decision to have a lap-band. I stil…

Well tomorrow makes the two year anniversary since my Gastric sleeve operation.. I can safely say its the best thing I have ever done in my life.. Every thing has changed for the better for me .. I have lost over 9stone 4lb. (130lb) So I stand at 5ft 1' and weight 9stone (126lb).. I would still like to drop a little more and maybe deal with the loos skin on my stomach as that must weigh a few pounds in itself but all in all very happy I did this..

I took a tuna stuffed pepper to work for lunch today. Came lunch time and I just wasn't in the mood for tuna or peppers. I went to the cafeteria. Now I haven't bought anything there for over two months, since surgery. There were all new employees. I told the one guy, this may seem strange, but I want two slices of the smoked turkey, two slices of cheese and two cucumber spears. He couldn't believe that I didn't want bread. He had to go find his boss to ask how to price this!! The boss sticks his head out (finally someone I recognize) and says he doesn't want anything from Hajji Cathie (me). I insisted on paying something. I ended up paying the equivalent of 6…

Hi all, So I just had my endoscopy done which was the final pre testing for my surgery. My insurance requires the 6 month pre diet and to be honest I've stayed exactly the same weight. My doctor told me I needed to lose 7 pounds before my surgery. I have been dieting (not perfect) but with no luck. Anyway, did anyone else have the 6 month diet? If so when did you finally get a surgery date? Did you have to wait until after you received approval or do they give it to you pending approval? Just curious. Thanks for all the help! Very excited!

I finally made the decision and started the process. 2/14/11: Verified with Saint Luke's Center for Surgical Weight Loss that my insurance would cover their program 2/15/11: Attended St. Luke's Seminar 2/23/11: Attended first pre-op Dr. appointment. Sandy explained that I would need a 1) sleep study, 2) appointment with their nutrionist and exercise specialist to begin a three month supervised diet/exercise program, 3) psych eval, 4) letter of medical clearance from my GP, and 5) copies of notes from any doctor I saw in 2009 and 2010 showing my current weight. I would also need to attend at least one support group meeting. My appointments …

I loved Water, but its really hard now to get down. Crystal light, etc disgusts me now. Some of the flavored water I don't like anymore. UGH!!! Is this normal? Is it normal to not feel hungry at anytime? Im pretty sure I am not even getting enough liquid or daily protein in as of yet. My NUT said that I will work up to the protein level. Has anyone else been through this specifically? Advice? Oh, I went to bariware.com and bought the tool there! Do any of you have that?

I accompanied him to his fist appointment with the surgeon. Funny thing happened, The surgeon reassured me this was the best decision and he scared my husband into not having it. 42. I've never been much of an ice eater and had no desire to do so once I was post op.. But for some reason, any liqiud I drink that is ice cold or frozen, feels so good to my tummy and stays down. I noticed this when I had a pop-sicle about a week ago. It just went down so smooth and I was satisfied. I was having the hardest time getting water down. A lightbulb in my head comes on and says, freeze it. I let it sit in the freezer for about 3 hours, took it out, it was slushy like.. Went right on down and felt so refreshing. Tried the same thing with my vitamin water today and look at me.. only noon and I've already gotten about 30 ounces down. Think I've found a new trick.
