Fat. Fed up. Figuring it out.
Never was a fat kid. Had a killer figure until I got my first desk job. Then, WHAM-O, gained 50 pounds in one year! Two kids, 40 more pounds and shopping the plus-size department. Yeah. Thatâ€™s how I roll. The upside? I could successfully survive a famine.
Oh. Yes, I am a Hoosier. A fat-fortysomething-future-fab female Hoosier. HoosierGirl.
Waking up one day and seeing 237 light up on the scale isnâ€™t like finding an extra $20 when you put on last years winter coat. Not exciting.
My hubs is pretty cool about my fat-ness. Although he is supportive, I donâ€™t think heâ€™s THAT excited about my desire for weight loss surgery. Whatever. Heâ€™s a guy. Guys lose weight by breathing. Itâ€™s not the same horrible all consuming battle against good and evil that we women fight daily. Kudos to him for being a good pretend-listener and smiling at me. Heâ€™s put up with my brand of crap for 12 years and I truly believe he keeps coming back for more because heâ€™s never quite sure what is going to happen next.
In February 2012 I started having problems with my heart pounding and rolling in my chest. Thousands of dollars of medical tests later, turned out to be stress. I do have high blood pressure that is well controlled with medication. Bottom line, my doc said I would benefit from weight loss surgery. And the journey beganâ€¦
