Greetings! I'm another newbie here. I was banded in November, and lost 30 lbs to date. About a week after surgery I found this site, and I'm glad you did. Most of my questions were answered and then some, so thank you for that.

I had eaten and went out for a ride with my husband. We hit a big bump and that was the worse pain ever since sugery & I'm still feeling the affects! The bump seem to have shaken my stomach contents and I immediately felt like burping or throwing up and having movement from the other end! This was/is horrible & scary! I dislike vomiting...still belching big & painful....gas rivaled gas pain after surgery! My husband was like oh Lord are you ok? I said no I feel I need to throw up!

I was banded on 12/28/12. After a life time of dieting finally decided I needed some assistance. Just finished clear liquids. Moved to full liquids yesterday. I'm having the most trouble getting my water in, my surgeon wants me to take in 64oz a day. It seems like such a chore. I have never been a big water drinker.

  7. Started by I-used-to-be-fat,

I have just completed week two and have yet to have a bowel movement. Day 4 I passed this yellowish liquid and haven't had any other "activity" since then. I'm drinking my protein shakes, getting in about 50 grams of protein per day and trying to drink as much water as possible. Anyone experiencing anything similar?

  8. Hello Everyone and Happy New Years!!! Well it's been just over 3 months since I was sleeved on 9/27/2012. It's been an awesome journey thus far and I am so happy that I've made this choice. I've been overweight all of my adult life, but I didn't really have any health problems until I hit my thirties. I have a history of high blood pressure and diabetes in my family and feel like I'm on the road now to long team health. I feel a major difference in the clothes I wear and notice more energy every day. With that said... I've included a couple before pictures and one picture that I took today with my wife. I hope everyone is doing well.... God Bless! dinner 7 14 …

Just found out that my surgery for lap band will be in just 10 days! Took my surprise! Starting to get the jitters a little. That's normal though, right?! I'm so blessed to be living with someone who has had lapband for three years now....my mom! She is my biggest cheerleader and supporter in this journey. I can't wait to see where this lifestyle change will take me!

I'm a new vsg to. I started at 244 and 5'4" Jan 2012 then 231 the day of surgery 09/04/12 and 2 weeks later I'm at 214. I've been at 214 for a week though is that normal? I'm so nervous am I doing this right. I research and see other people doing and looking amazing and thinking no way am I gonna look like that. I would love any advice.

  14. Hi. I am considering having the VSG surgery. I am 30 years old I weigh 272 pounds and I'm looking to lose between 80 and 100 pounds with this surgery. Most of my weight is in my arms my thighs and my stomach . I am worried about having excess skin and droopy skin. This is really a big concern for me . At this point I'm going through the process and just getting more information to make up my mind as to whether this is a good decision for me. By reading all the posts on this website I have come to the conclusion that this maybe a good decision but I just have a couple of questions. Is there anyone out there who has already went through this process and through the surgery …

I'm Donna and I'm new here. I has an appt with a surgeon in 2 weeks. I weigh 285 with a 48.9 BMI. My primary care dr has been talking to me about the lapband, as well as my pain management dr and my lung dr. My primary care and pain dr have had a conference call with a bariatric dr about me so maybe I will get approved. We never know about insurance companies though. They can be fickle. I used to be over 300lbs, on oxygen, and in a power wheelchair most of the time. My mom died a few years ago and my sister (who was my best friend) died suddenly this year. It has spurred me into not wanting to have my kids and grandkids bury me and go thru this pain so I have been puttin…

I had my first of six NUT appts yesterday. It was very informative. Everyone at the surgeons office was very nice and supportive. Second appt is scheduled for 1-30 so I feel like its gonna move so quickly. I'm anxious and excited. I was told by the Dr. That I should only lose between .5-1 lb a month. Thats easy so, no pressure there. I gave up fast food so that alone should do it. But, I'm starting back to zumba I made the decision to change my life Dec. 1st. I swear the more I think about surgery, the more I read about it, the more I'm on this forum and , the more jouneys I follow on youtube, it makes me do a lot of soul searching. I had my sleeve surgery on 12/10/12. I woke up with horrible back pain and it has not stopped. I am going to see a specialist on Monday has anyone else had this issue? My other problem is MetLife is driving crazy even with all my issues and my surgeon wants me out work until at least 1/14/13. MetLife told me they can only give me 28 days off. I am having so much back pain my neck is starting to hurt. Please help I am so stressed that I am regretting getting the surgery.

I had my surgery done 8/23/2013. So far I have lost 67lbs and am so excited. At first the only way I could tell I was losing weight is only by my pant size and by people telling me. Sometimes I was not sure if ppl just say that you look like you have lost weight just to be nice. I still get frustrated at myself when its still hard to find pants and am a size 16 now and I was 24. This surgery was hard at first I was out of work for a month. I cried and was in pain and had regreted my decision. I know now that I would do it all over again. I have noticed that I have been happier and way more confident then before. I wish the best if luck and happiness to anyone who wishes t…

I'm new to the site. I was banded in April 2010. Starting weight was 272. Total lost is 70 lbs. Goal weight is 155. I found this site because I feel like I need more support. I am married and have 2 kids. My husband is usually supportive but he doesn't want me to get any fills or to go to the gym. He wants me to do it all on my own and not use my band or even the gym as a crutch. I enjoy going to the gym and it really helps me deal with stress. I know that I am an emotional eater and when I get stressed, I always used sweets as a comfort. This fall has been pretty stressful and busy at work and I have been feeling overwhelmed. I haven't been taking care of myself. S…

I have struggled with my weight as long as I can remember...I have tried every option out there- hitting the gym in boot-camp style 3 hours day for 15 weeks, lost 10 pounds...weight watchers 16 weeks, lost 15 pounds...BodyByVi shakes program lost 8 pounds....walking 6 miles/day and my own healthy diet routine lost 10 pounds...Adipex for over two years now- down 20# total. Nothing seems to work, I have become so uncomfortable in my own body that I know it's time for a change. I've exhausted my efforts. I was all ready mentally and in the process of getting all my paperwork together for the insurance to hopefully approve surgery . Then, Hurricane Sandy struck and the hospital I worked at got severely flooded . Now, I am out of a job. The only good thing is that I have my husbands insurance to rely on. The bad thing is that the surgeon wants me to meet with a psychologist which is $250.00 cash. To me it's BS the insurance company wants to make sure your not crazy before having this surgery . It's hard to spend that when you don't have your income right now. So, I postponed the surgery and now I'm getting cold feet about proceeding with it. Im also gaining more weight in …

Hi! My 4 month surgiversary is tomorrow. I started at 200 lbs & have lost 50 so far. I no longer take high blood pressure medicine. I still take one injection of insulin a day, but I don't have to take the three pills & one other injection anymore. I'm very thankful for this new opportunity at life, but this journey has definitely not been easy. I'm looking forward to getting some advice & connecting with others that are dealing with the same issues.

  50. I had surgery on Sept 14th, 2012. I did it for many reasons, but the main was that in June my mother passed away. She was 55, 2 days short of her 56th birthday. I decided that I did not want to lose my life over something like my weight. I made the decision to have the surgery. I have a very smooth surgery. I had surgery at 11 am on a Friday and was discharged by noon on Saturday the very next day. My recovery was easy, no complications other than pain and some ankle swelling that I wa…
