Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story

hello all!! i was banded in 2009. I was at 377lbs and got down to 187lbs. This past year I have gained 50lbs back and no matter how many cc's the doctor puts in or takes out, it's not working anymore. So he has suggested the sleeve. The problem with that is that he says its hard to get insurance approval for the switch. In the meantime, he has deflated my band by 3cc's, (he wanted to delfate it completely but I'm against it) with 5cc's still in tact. He says its to allow healing of any scar tissure before switching IF MY INSURANCE APPROVES IT. My question to you all is....Was it hard to get insurance approval? How long were you deflated and how much did you gain …

Hi, I'm new to the site (well not really). I've been lurking and reading hundreads of post old and new before making up my mind. I have my first consultation next week and I cannot wait to get started. I'm 80/20 sure I'm going with the Lap Band, however I was also looking at the sleeve. Just curious how people who had surgery 7 to 8 months out are doing? I lost 53 pounds since surgery. Before surgery I lost 38. Struggling now!

Thinking about switching to the B12 shot instead of the liquid. It leaves a weirded taste in my mouth and I believe it's affecting my taste buds. Anyone doing the shot monthly ?

I have my first consult tomorrow. My insurance requires I have BMI above 30 and at least one co-morbidity. The BMI requirement I meet hands down, but I don't have high blood pressure,diabetes,high cholesterol or any of the other co-morbidities. My only hope is that my sleep apnea study shows that I have sleep apnea. So please keep your fingers crossed that I stop breathing a couple of times in my sleep during the study

Yesterday I found out that I can run....well a little way at least. I still have another 9 days until my 4 month surgiversary so, hopefully I will be posting some better weight stats by then. At my last weigh in I was down 68 lbs. I know some people consider that slow, but it is fine with me. It averages to over 4.5 lbs. a week. Had the surgery in October. My hair started falling out about a month ago and its like big clumps. What's the deal?! I m eating all the protein I can. Anyone else experience this?

After 6 weeks I finally have my initial consult. First weigh in, visit with nutritionist ect. They said it would be about and hour and and half. I am excited but nervous.. As I'm going alone since I trying to keep it hush hush at least for now. Still trying to decide if its the right thing for me.. Very confusing . I mean I weigh 270 and am 5 6" so I know I need it.. My gastric bypass story has come to an end. Yesterday I met with my surgeon and after a long discussion he thought it was best that I don't have any type of WLS. I started my road at 319 and the last 5 months I have been working hard and have lost 42lbs already so he thinks I have what it needs already to do this with out the tool of WLS. Hello i just got home from hospital yesterday, i had surgery 3/15 ... i weigh 249 ... excited to see the results .. only thing is I still feel hungry , thinking its more mental than anything else

I was sleeved yesterday. So far I can't keep anything. The gas pain is horrible and I can't take a deep breath. I just call the dr he is sending new meds since I can't hold down the Vicodin. We I get up and walk I get really dizzy and nauseous. Anyone have any tricks to help me please!?! Thank you

I'm still waiting to get approval to get my conversion to a sleeve, but one of my concerns is the loose/access skin. Is there any way to prevent it or tackle it? Certain exercises or creams or lotions?

Going for an interview and Dave was like we can't afford new fat boy clothes and I was like true so we only bought some new pants cause the ones I use to wear were HUGE like elephant huge which costs tons more cause 3 little Chinese kids have to sew them together instead of just one. So I bought a semi less huge pair for 60 and Dave was like you can try and fit into my shirts. That skinny b***h told me that and I was like me in a two x hell no. And we debated so I put the damn shirt on to prove he's an idiot and damn it the shirt fit! So now I'm the idiot lol sometimes being wrong is a good thing!!! So that's me wearing a two x shirt.

Hi, I like to follow the fourms, but don't post, but I feel that I need to tonight. I just lost my band on Friday, and boy did that hurt not just physically but emotionally too. I meet with my surgeon next week to talk about options. I'm not sure what to do at this stage, just so many questions. I sometimes think I can do this with out the band and then I'm just sure. Hey y'all. I came across this site today. I have been doing research on the VSG for a while, attended a seminar two weeks ago and decided this is something definitely want for myself. I met with my surgeon today, and have scheduled my first meeting with a nutritionist and psychiatrist tomorrow (they work pretty fast here). Just had my Upper G.I. test and that GERD test was horrible, lol!

So I went shopping with my best friend and found out I was bigger than I thought. I don't know how I am gaining all of this weight. Yes I do, something has to happen. I thought I was a size 20 but after moving back to the States, I have packed on so much weight. I was 260 when I arrived, now I am 310. And apparently wearing a size 28 in lane Bryant . I was devastated last night . I know I am doing something abt it but it has just gotten out of hand . I have my psych evaluation on Sat and then 1 of 2 of my last nutritionist visits . I am 5 1/2 months out and eat between 700-900 calories a day. I work out 4 days a week and I am losing very slowly right now. I am wondering if I am not eating enough maybe? When I work out I burn about 300 calories. Sometimes a little less. Does anyone know how many calories we should be eating? I get a ton of Protein in daily so I know that isn't the issue. Has anyone used True Results in Houston? I have a consult with them tomorrow morning. My insurance won't approve the surgery. However if there is an underlying condition (e.g. hiatal hernia)...they will cover almost all of it. I hate to say it...but I kind of hope I have a minor underlying condition that will qualify me...lol Oh well...wish me luck!

ok,here i go...well since my last post on Jan 30 i only loose 7 more pounds, on that date i was 172 and today 165 with the numbers going in betwen 164-167 driving me crazy, its getting hard go back on track, i been eating too fast, too often and its not bc im hungry its just bc i want to,so here is my question did somebody have been trying the 5 days pouch test diet,and how successful it was?

Howdy:-) Ok so the big day is almost here...I haven't been nervous about it until now. Im 28...about 275 with no real medical problems and my surgery is on March 22nd. I just made the decision to go with the vertical sleeve vs the lap band. This is going to sound SILLY...but one of my real worries is how long it will be post op before i can return to my office job. I hate missing work but I have 10 days total off. Is there anyone out there that is/has been in a similar situation as mine? Thanks for any help...Im sure ill have more questions!

Hi, I am 30 years old 150 pound, my goal is to reach 100- 110 pounds. Can anybody please talk to me, will this op would help me reach my goal? And has anybody in this body range available in this forum? Doctors will not consider any other operation due to my low BMI, lapband is the only option that few suggested.
