Hello. My name is Greg and I had my VSG on March 15 (so I am in week two.) I had a lot of pain during the 1st few days and I know this is normal. After week one I was actually feeling really great about everything, and then when I woke up yesterday (Tuesday 3/26) I felt terrible. I have had this constant, painful, burning diarrhea that will not stop. Also, when I try to eat something like pudding I just start feeling sick. This could be dumping syndrome, but I'm not 100% sure. I know this is going to get better, but I hate how I have been feeling this week. Any comments or suggestions would be greatly appreciated and I am glad that I found this sight. Thank you!

Okay so I am going to give this a go. I know the scale has gone down 75 lbs., and I started out in a TIGHT size 32 & am now comfortably a size 24, and have had many other NSV over the past 4 months. I still don't see it. Someone recommended that I look at side by side pictures so here we go. 3 pictures are me at my highest weight of 418. One is 2 Easter's ago at an Easter Egg hunt with my boyfriend, nieces and nephew. 2 are from this August at Niagara Falls and in my sister's wedding. I was still ate 418 for those. My VSG was on 11/27. I'm not sure how these pictures are going to upload so the pic of me in the black & pink flower dress is from today. My boyfriend'…

If I tolerate it well, is there any reason I need to wait until Thursday?? I can't drink another drink.....I'm going out of my fricken mind All I want is a 1/4 cup of cottage cheese!!!

Every since I was young Ive been pleasantly plump. I have always been an outgoing and sociable person so my friends and classmates really didnt see me depressed in public...but many days and nights I cried myself to sleep. Finding clothes and fitting into tight spaces is the story of my life. Eventhough I am obese ive never really had health issues until recently. All my Medical was done and I was scheduled for surgery 11/30/12 when Insurance denied me for this Diet requirement after telling me it wasn't required. I think it could be Mid to Late April. Insurance said I did not need to redo any of the medical. I can't wait!!

Lucky because it's one less stress, unfortunately because I'm probably going to end up diabetic after the amount of crap I've eaten over the last few days. I told my kids not to upset me today because I'd probably cry chocolate! Lol

I am noticing that I'm not losing as much weight per week as I have in the past and feeling more of an appetite . I have made changes to my diet , like eating more nuts and fruits and less meats but still am not dropping the pounds like in the past . Any suggestions anyone ?

Okay, where to start?? ... I have been thinking about WLS for years, and in January I decided to go for it. I met with my Dr. on January 10th and asked for a referral to Bariatric surgery. My doctor was very encouraging and thought it would be great for me to do it. I have sever asthma, pcos, Graves' disease, and the list goes on. I have always had medical issues growing up, and losing weight has been nearly impossible. Before my doctor was able to give me a referral I had to go to a seminar expla…

So I know that after the surgery all they tell you to do is walk, walk, walk.... I get it. Now I'm one week out and want to know how soon I can actually hit the gym and the elliptical and burn some real calories? I know I can't over do it and have to take it slow, but at say two weeks out, is a brisk 45 minute walk too much? Or 30 minutes on an elliptical? Right now when I'm just doing the light walking I feel like I'm not working hard enough.... Thoughts?

I am having a really hard time noticing when I'm full, and I'm craving all kinds of real food already. Is it normal to feel hungry? How difficult was it for some of you to learn to listen to your body and know when you're full?

I was never a heavy kid, although I was never skinny. I was fairly athletic, and also an “early bloomer” girl. By the time I was 12, I looked more like an 18 yr old, which caused my mother a fair amount of concern. My weight gain has been the result of a sort of “perfect storm” of three factors. When I was 17, I seriously injured my left knee in a silly accident. Five months later, I re-injured it playing basketball. I think I could have come back from the first injury, but the second injury pretty much meant that my knee would never be quite the same again. When I was 25, I began taking a medication that had a side effect of increased appetite. Around the same ti…

3 years ago this month I had the lap band surgery in Mexico. I would like to say I am a success story. But, I am not. I started out with a bang and lost 45 pounds in the first 3 months. Then slowed to 2 a month. Then I started gaining and couldn't figure it out. I started a having sore throat and swelling. This went on for 1 year as I slowly gained back the weight I lost. As I had no insurance, I could not go to the doctors....finally I went to the doctors. Turned out that my thyroid was the problem. I had thyroid cancer. Now, no thyroid and I am fighting to relose the weight that I gained back. I am just 10 pounds down from where I was 3 years ago....

I've had a problem ever since my surgery on 01/24/13. I cannot stay hydrated. I have always preferred drinking water over anything else, but since the surgery I have a difficult time with water. Protein shakes, yogurt smoothies, soup, and coffee have no problem going down, but for some reason as soon as I drink water it seems to get stuck and go down a LOT slower than other liquids. Has anyone else had this problem? I've lost 25 lbs including preop and I'm sure I could have done better had I been able to drink water. There's no telling how many times I mistook hunger for thirst. Thanks!

I am asking this question because I had the VBG 12 years ago and after the initial healing, I besically could not eat healthy foods, and by that I mean meat, fish, fruits and veggies....I seemed to exist mostly on junk food because my stomach could process that. My theory was that the pouch was so small it did not have all the necessary stomach juices to digest the healthier foods. A year ago the opening, which was the size of a dime, got completely blocked...water wouldnt even go down. I had emergency surgery and he unblocked it and removed half of the band. I was sleeved feb 18th. Started at 253 and now at 5 weeks out I have lost 21 lbs. I am disappointed by this number because it appears I'm losing not just slow, but very SLOW. I eat about 600-700 cals a day. 60g protein. I'm not getting as much water as I should be, maybe 40oz on a good day. I have cut out all breads, pastas, sugars etc. I'm looking for encouragement, tips, motivation and reassurance that made the right choice. I'd also like to hear from someone else who succeeded in similar shoes.
