I am a patient of the Weight Loss Institute of Arizona and am very pleased with the services they have provided for me. This was a very big decision for me to have lap band and I did my homework researching them before starting my band process...and don't regret for a minute choosing the weight loss institute of Arizona by putting my life essentially in their hands... I am very confident in the doctors, nutritionist (Mike), staff and billing dept. They have always assisted me with my Weight loss questions, worries and any concerns I have had. I look forward to many years to come with them by my side assisting me every step of the way.

Just wanted to introduce myself. My name is Stephanie and I'm 47 yrs old. Scheduled to get my lapband May 28th with Dr. Stowers. My weight is 275 and my goal is 150. I'm sure I'll have lots of questions in the near future. Right now I'm just seeing if I can get any weight off on my own at first. Well wish me luck and thanks for listening.

I keep reading on here about those who are struggling with guilt when they eat. Until yesterday I was one if those people. I am 6 weeks post op and yesterday we had a family function where everyone ordered pizza. I took a small slice, cut it in half and ate the half, except the back crust (the part where you hold). Afterwards I felt such a tremendous amount of guilt, I was depressed, angry, and frustrated that even after his surgery that food was STILL controlling my emotions. I just want to be normal! Eat like a normal, healthy person and FEEL and look healthy. Here was my revelation. A healthy, normal person DOES eat a slice of pizza and enjoys it without all the neg…

Hey all! My name is Lesli. Im new to the forum and am just beginning what I hope will be an awesome journey of the rest of my life. Im officially scheduled for my VSG for 5/2/13! *claps hands* While Im very excited and hopefull, I am somewhat concerned amd very curious about life after surgery. I have a plan though. This nxt month I'm walking daily in anticipation of a good recovery. I'm also using a deep penetrating oil on my trouble areas (hoping to keep skin from sagging as much later). Im going to purchase an abdominal binder (I heard wearing one for a few months post op will reduce the severity of an apron..any testimonies on that subject?). Im also going to begi…

I have had my band for a year and a half, and have struggled every step of the way. Now weighing 10lbs more then I did at my first consult I have decided to switch doctors. I'm hoping to get a new perspective and a concerned doctor. I have only had 2 fills and frankly feel like I have felled and my doctor has also felled me. Was wondering if anyone has switched doctors and got better results?

Hello, My name is Ashley. I was banded on March 26, 2013. I am 29 years old and have yo-yoed all my life so after alot of research I decided the band was for me. When I first went for consultation I was 311 lbs with a BMI of 56.9. The doctor told me I had to get down to 255 lbs before surgey. I did Optifast for 4 weeks and exercisevery strictly and weighed in at 253 the day of my surgery. As of today I have lost 60 lbs even and Im very proud of myself. Its been hard work but I was expecting that. My surgery went smoothly and the incisions arent too bad at all. The only thing bothering me is the severe chest pressure and what I assume is heart burn. The pressure is start…

I am new to VST and have found it very helpful in doing my research on the sleeve. My doctor is Dr. Yu in Houston and my surgery date is set for April 16. I am 54 and have become obese gradually over the last 10 - 15 years. I do not have any comorbidities but have decided to have the surgery to ensure my future health. My family has lots of heart disease and I know I need to change my eating and exercise habits before I develop serious health problems. My baby sister (40 yrs old) had the surgery in Dallas in January and is doing really well. She has had a pretty easy time of it - I hope it runs in the family!! I am dreading the Pre-op diet - Protein shakes are yucky to…

Okay so after 10 and a half months I finally have my surgery date, and it's April 25th. I've been waiting 10.5 months and I feel like these next three weeks are taking forever! It's like time went flying by and now it's hit a brick wall and I could have sworn the clock was turning back. What did you all do to kill the time?

Some of you were able to see my pics yesterday, but someone gave me a tip about using picmonkey to do a side by side comparison. I still have a LONG way to go. I don't see it when I look in the mirror, but when I look at these pics side by side I can definitely tell the difference. I would really recommend this to anyone, but especially to those like myself who have a really large amount of weight to lose. Trust me, I would have never complained about losing ONLY 76 lbs. in 4 months in the past, but when you get sleeved you want it all to melt away quickly. It still holds true that we did not gain this weight overnight & we won't lose it overnight. I will be keeping a…

Ok I haven't been on here for a few months. Since probably December. I've lost 45 since surgery, but have a total loss if 80lbs. I was worried about not losing enough after surgery(I'm currently 215 started at 294). My doctor at my 3 month check up said it was awesome. He said "l'm not worried about numbers, I'm worried about healthy habits." My triglycerides have improved to normal, which was my only comorbidity other than the weight itself. I hope everyone else is gaining the same success. I do mess up and have bad days generally towards my period (oh, my pcos has improved as well having a 28 day cycle). But I know I try to do well but I do have my days. I don't give up…

Hi all. I had VSG in Jun 2012. I have to say I am very pleased overall. I have had very little appetite, now at 10 months post op. Although I have only lost 60 lbs, I am still losing and have not gained any weight back. My dilemma is this....I recently obtained good insurance coverage, after not having any insurance for several years. I was excited to be accepted at the Mayo Clinic for my primary care, considering the good reputation the clinic has. I went to see my new doctor last week, and she was very condescending and mentally sabotaging regarding my weightloss surgery. Here are some of the things she said to me~ "The VSG is the least successful wls out of …

I am new to this whole process. My surgery date is April 10, five days after my birthday. I have wanted to have surgery for the last 10 years. I knew alot of people who have had either the band or RNY and at first in 2003 I was on a waiting list to have the band done and when I got to the front I had just turned 5 months pregnant (my little surprise angel) needless to say it was cancelled. I have always lost weight with pregnancy so that time I lost 52 pounds by the time I delivered but having post partum depression after I gained the 52 plus 20 in about 2 months. this is what happened after each of my pregnancies (3). Now here I am last year I was informed by insur…

I just found this forum! I had my lap band surgery on January 30,2013. I've lost about 31 pounds. My surgeon did the 1st fill and then the nurse in the bariatric center will do the rest of the fills. I just had my second fill. The weight loss had really SLOWED down!!! I told her how I was getting hungry after about 2 1/2 to 3 hours after eating. She told me to start eating some greens with my meat. So, I just started adding greens last night. I cooked some cabbage and at that with my meat I KNOW the doctor said the weight loss would slow down but, I only lost 4 pounds in March. Is this normal? I don't have ANYONE I can talk to. I just don't feel I'm getting…

Hi. I had surgery on March 22nd. I am physically healing well with very little discomfort. But I'm hungry! I can't wait to get to the puree stage. I am definitely noticing a change in the taste of food. I am also craving every food commercial on TV. I read about of posts on here and feel like i have great company and a lot of good ideas. This is a great support tool! More to come soon

My sleeve journey is going great. I am down 76 lbs. & feeling great. Tomorrow I am going to start exercising 6 days a week with my boyfriend's sister who lost 110 lbs. all by sheer willpower. I love her because she does not judge me being sleeved at all. Here's the stinker. I have 3 1/2 weeks left of my college semester. My last day is April 28th & I leave for vacation on April 29th. I am abstaining from any social media or time drainers. Although I love this site & the supportive people here, I have to take a mini break. So, you won't hear from me again probably until when my vacation starts or some time after April 29th. I know you all are so sad! LOL....Ser…

Hi all, I have bipolar, and my meds have screwed up my weight badly since the first time I was put on psych meds at 18 (I'm 30 now). After many years, I'm pretty stable on the mental health front, but the cost has been pretty severe, weight-wise. As a teenager, I gained 40lb in 6 months, and I fought to get half of that off. I went off meds, and now that I've been back on, I've gained an additional 80 in the past 4 years. The only time I've been anything approaching "normal" weight was after six months of intense mania (exercising like mad and being OCD about not eating), and I was down to a BMI of 30 and size 8 pants. Each time I adjust my meds, there's a definite spik…

I am new. This is my first post. I had lapband four years ago and I had problems. Little or no weight loss but not due to not following doctor's orders. I had chronic reflux even on two bites of soft food. So, about 3 weeks ago, I had the band removed and gastric bypass. My stitches are healed and I'm trying to get my energy back. I'm just starting pureed foods. I've been through this process before and it is actually easier this time around. But, I've heard about dumping and I'm really not wanting to experience this...ever! The internet sites (WebMD and MayoClinic) both describe something really horrible to experience with no suggestions for what you can do! …
