Growing up I just remember always being self conscious about my weight although I don't remember anyone ever saying I was, it's like I was born insecure. When I look back over pictures I was thin. So I guess there is such a thing as self fulfilled prophecy because I fulfilled that destiny, I went into the Marine Corps at 18 and barely passed my physical fitness test, I can't run. Then I was borderline for my weight, but I made it. I meet my husband, was married at 19, 4 mths later had my son, lost the weight, then 9 mths later was pregnant with my daughter. and lost that weight. When I got out of the military after 4 yrs I went into a major depression, and was drinking a lot needless to say I started to balloon. I started to become what I had believed about myself for so long. Nothing I did seemed to help me lose it, or I'd lose it and gain back even more. The highest weight I've reached was just last year at 298. Back around 2004 I tried to get Gastric By-Pass, but to no avail, I did not qualify at the time. I suffered with the depression and drinking for almost 20 yrs, but by the grace of god was released from them both several years back. As far as the weight I just gave up. Years later when I heard of the Lap-Band I wanted it, but did not ever have a way of getting it. So I gave up again. Then later on for some unknown reason I looked at the new insurance booklet they sent out, which I never did, But there it was, they covered Lap-Band, and they covered it if anything goes wrong too. I had to call to make sure, and sure enough they did. Now it was a matter of finding someone that would except my insurance O'Boy I thought here we go, because I called True Results and they said no. They gave me Allergan's number and I called them, and they gave me some numbers of Dr.'s. Low and behold the first one I called,Bariactric Solutions, said yes. My deductible would be 3,000, dollars though. As I was dong all the prep work I ran into a snag with the Pulmotologist (SP?) my stress test came back abnormal. They ran another test and it looked like I had a blockage. I had to have a heart catherterazation(SP?) luckily it was only a 40% blockage. Had it been 70% they would have had to do more and it would have prolonged me getting the band by about 3 months. The good thing is it affected my deductible. It lowered it to 1,500 dollars, and they said I could put down 300.dollars and make payment on the rest plus my fills will be cheaper till the end of the year. So that's my story up until now we will see if this is a success or not. I plan on doing everything the doc tells me so we will see how the story ends. I get banded on the 28th of May 2013 which is almost a week away, so I'm excited and nervous. See ya on the other side.
