  1. Started by GypsyQueen,

They offered me April 5th, 11th, and May 10th before settling on the 17th. I'm on spring break at the moment with the kids and was not prepared to start Preop diet TODAY...:-) When I let my hubby know, he said he was putting in for 3 weeks sick leave. I told him I was glad I could be his excuse! Lol!

  2. Started by KarenElaine,

Ok, this is a milestone for me. I can go several days without a drink of soda. My vice being Dr. Pepper...I don't drink much at a time. Because of migraines but when I get a migraine, sometimes a cold swig of the doc or (rarely) the whole can, will kick the migraine when my arsenal of meds won't. Go figure! We've just been through several days of horrible overcast and some rain. I pushed through a 72-hour migraine with no Dr. Pepper! That's huge for me. I lift my glass of ice water, Cheers!

Hi everyone! I just scheduled my surgery for April 8th! I just finished day 1 of my preop diet... oh mylanta... i feel like crap! BUT I have been trying to look at the big picture!... I was diagnosed with PCOS when I was 20 years old (6 years ago). It has been an uphill battle. My husband and I have yet to have any successful pregnancy's. We are praying that the lap band is the answer we've been praying for. Anyone that can share their experience with PCOS and lap band... I would love to hear any stories or advice!! I am anticipating slower weight loss because of the PCOS, but also because I am just over the line to qualify for the surgery. Everyone I have talked to …

I'm new here. But I need a little more support than usual. I've been seeing my primary since October '12. I called the office to set up my last appointment, my Dr told me she is not sure if her notes are adequate for my insurance to approve the surgery. After five months of visits at the eleventh hour I'm hit with this. I am terrified! and I checked my weight today. I gained 9lbs. (Emotional eater, obviously). I called the surgeon's coordinator, she said all documentation needs to be submitted to her in the next 7 days in order to get approval to have a 4/15/13 surgery date.

Hi Tania here, have Sleeve booked in for April 4 & would like to start a thread with others starting the same journey around that time. Was booked for Band however after further research have switched to the Sleeve. Seems like less maintenance ( fills , visits etc) and a more normal or natural outcome, just me , well hopefully less of me, just with a smaller stomach. No foreign bits inside me, and too be honest food getting 'stuck' with the band doesn't appeal. Recovery & healing is what I am most anxious about, I see the chat on here as well about the possible grief post op of losing a good chunk of a body part & I understand that. Reminds me to…

I was banded in March of 2011 and have lost 75 pounds since then. Last Thursday I attempted to eat some refried beans and almost immediately I began getting sick. I had been getting sick a lot lately and had gone in the day before and had my band deflated to try and get myself together. This would be my last attempt with the band. The pain got worse and the vomiting and dry heaving would not let up. The doctor that deflated my band the day before just happened to call and check on me during this ordeal and he advised me to meet him at the ER and the odds were that I would be admited for surgery. I went to the ER and he had orders waiting so they quickly drew my labs and g…

Well I'm going to kind of use this as an opportunity to keep my own journal of my progress so to speak. So forgive me for boring details and length, as a lot of it is just for my own record to reflect back on lol. Well my story starts early 2012 when my wife visited her regular doctor, and he basically told her something had to give or she'd never see her kids graduate high school. She was refered to Dr. Heider (we're local to his office anyway, extremely convenient). Ever the skeptic, I supported my wife, but had the "Good ole diet and exercise is the ONLY RIGHT way to lose weight" attitude, but I supported her anyway. No way I was going to do that crap. The time ca…

I have my surgery scheduled for April 15th. I'm excited & scared. This has really happened so quickly it feels like a whirlwind! My first seminar was in February and I'm only 3 weeks out to my surgery. I sure didn't expect things to go from start to finish in 2 months. I'm not complaining AT ALL just nervous. Any advice on getting ready for surgery? How about recovery? Thanks all!

I am early in the process still but this is such a crazy emotional journey! I went to my first appointment with the surgeon at the end of February and so far have had 1 sleep study, 1 nut appointment, blood work (9 vials), upper gi/barium swallow, ultrasound, psychiatric evaluation and information session! I have done all of this still with the fear that I may not be approved! I have struggled with my weight for 20 years (and I am 33). I have lost and gained so many times over those years I am surprised that my body has survived! I have never had a problem losing it just doesn't stay off and when it comes back it usually comes back with some extra "friends" (more …

  12. PEOPLE.....Please learn how to speak to 1 another and if you're not going to say something nice then don't write on the the forum. This is not a place to humiliate or degrade anyone. This is a place where we can come to each other ask each other for advice and to lean back on 1 another. Obviously because we might feel comfortable with the people on here and speaking to some of you who have gone through what were going through might be helpful. STOP THE NEGATIVITY... I could have had it sooner but were moving mid April with a baby and i just want to be as ready as I can for this. When she said approved I was excited for 2 mins minutes and then fear and panic set in which was weird because I wanted this so bad and now I'm here and I feeling like canceling. Im doing this for me but also for my son because I think if I do this my fiancé will as well and he has 200lbs to lose. I want to be able to do whatever we want as a family an not have weight be a factor. I don't want our child to have the fat parents at school but most importantly I…

I am five days post op and just realized that Oband doesn't have what they offer on their site like support groups. I'm going to go the support group from the surgeons private practice, and hope he welcomes me. Also the nutritionist doesn't see you anymore after the surgery, weird. I made my follow up appointments with them to see my surgent, that at least is good. Will go in there with a list of questions.

Yesterday I went to the mall to get a manicure and I went into Macy's just to try the clothes. I headed for the "normal" section and grabbed a couple pairs if size 16 pants. I put them on in the dressing room and to my surprise they fit. Like not just barely zipped but fit. Its been nine years since I have shopped in any other section besides plus size. I was so overwhelmed I sat down on the bench and teared up. Its those moments that make all the struggles worth it.

  19. I am so excited to be approved and scheduled for LB on April 10! After going through all of the pre-op clearances, and mandatory physician supervised "diet" I thought I was in the clear. But my insurance required proof of my weight from two years ago as a condition for approval. Thank God I had a yearly check up almost two years to the day and could prove that I had a qualifying BMI long enough. Well, even after faxing all of the required information to the insurance company they STILL denied the surgery. My start with weight issues goes as far back as I can remember with my first memory when I was 5 and crying because I didn't want to wear a bikini to the beach. The letter stated that it should take approx 2-4 weeks to get the approval from Blue Cross/Blue Shield insurance, and after they approve me for the Vertical Sleeve surgery, then I'll talk with my surgeon to set up a date for my Vertical Sleeve surgery. Yes, I am very nervous, as this will be a new lifestyle that I will need to adapt and adjust to.

Saying this in a post is extremely hard and scary to put it out in the open but this is just my truth. I have been clean for over 5 years and am the happiest I have ever been with me. I can honestly say that I am an equal oppurtunity addict I do everything to the extremes pills, shopping, reading, tv watching, etc......all with the hopes of filling a hole that was never satisfied. Luckily through the 12 steps of recovery I have been able to stop all my addictions except with the one that has always been my primary addiction and that is food! So sayin…

Having surgery to place the LapBand inside my body was a huge decision. My family stood behind me the entire way, in fact my parents paid for me to have it done. Seeing the doctor was a tragic moment. I was warned that he would try to break me down, try to make me cry… This is a way of showing how strong a person is, if they are emotionally stable to go through with this surgery, for my entire life would be different afterwards. I was prepared for the visit with the doctor, mentally and emotio…
