I just got home yesterday and I'm two days post op. I'm feeling really good. I have some pain but really nothing major and defiantly nothing that the meds aren't controlling. That first twenty four hours was pretty painful but once the gas pains started to die down it got a lot better. I'm taking in my fluids and full liquids pretty well. I'm afraid of overdoing it so I'm taking it pretty slow, I'm sure I could take a bit more in. I am a bit worried about getting in a enough protein and such but I'm sure it will get better over time. I haven't really felt hungry or anything yet so that's a good thing. Anyway I wanted to check in and say how great I'm feeling and h…

Well yest was my FIRST appt with the surgeon to discuss gastric sleeve surgery. I am soooo excited and a bit annoyed. I'm excited because I know I'm ready for this and annoyed because my Ins calls for 6mos documented weight loss prevention visits with weigh ins before they approve paying for the surgery. So looking to an Aug or Sept surgery date, if all goes well. Well there are a lot of tests to take prior so I'm busy making my appointments to get ready. I hope these six months go fast and I'm cleared for surgery. I have a cruise to Mexico in Dec I wanna be able to go to!! )))

I started to workout hard about 3 mouths before my surgery, lifting a lot of weights and doing lots of cardio and I believe now 8 days post op its paying huge dividends. I feel great, no problem getting my liquid and Protein in. No pain what so ever, never filled my prescription for pain when I came home. I started walking about 4 hours after I was in my room and continued the next day walking the halls around and around, I brought my ear buds and music and walked for about 4 hours that first day maybe 15 or 20 minutes at a time. This helped me greatly and I hope it will help you. Joe I.

Hello all.. Just came here to share my gastric sleeve story with the rest of you .. My name is Monica and I'm 23 years old. For as long as I can remember I have struggled with being overweight. At my heaviest (October-April of last year) i weighed 295lbs at 5'5. I had never been more miserable. It was in September 2011 I decided weight loss surgery was my only option. I attended the seminar and immediately new the sleeve was for me. It took six long months of jumping through hoops and doing everything insurance required of me before i finally had my surgery in April 2012. Today I am almost a year out and i weigh in at 188lbs. I have never been more happy or confident in …

I have been very focused and I have been trying to stay away from fried foods.... but this past week my direction has gone totally south. I have eaten a lot worse.. I just grabbed a large size meal from McDonalds. my weight has increased again after I had lost 10 pounds.. and my surgery is in 7 days... I need to do something about this I am in a state of down fall...can't think or act right because of this accident...this accident came at the wrong time in my life. I've been reading the posts on these forums for about a week, since I found this place. I am hopeful the veterans will be able to help us newbies figure out some things. What is bandster hell? What does NSV stand for? Where is the green zone and do I need to buy a membership to get in there? What do you mean my appetite/cravings will come back?! What's the truth about the first month? Two months? Do any of you attend local support group meetings? If so, has it helped? 9 days to bandyland, myself, and wondering about all this stuff.....

Hello everyone, I just wanted to first say Hi, I have been Lurking here for a month now gaining a little knowledge here and there. I was turned on to affordable wls by a miracle. I have been to some seminars and battled both blue cross blue sheild and cigna. Both businesses I have worked for put wls exempt. So I am paying out of pocket. Being so, I am willing to put my life on the line in the care of GOD. I am a USCG captain. I run a big Crewboat in the gulf of Mexico. I weigh an average of 315 year round. I get hounded everytime I turn in a piece of paperwork on sleep apnea and my weight countering my physical ability to do my job. In the past 2 years I have spent…

So I had a hard time with the liquid pre-op diet for the first few days. This is day 6. Yesterday was easier and today was even better. I had to go to the hospital for pre-op labs and I snuck into the scale room. OMG!!! I have lost 6 WHOLE POUNDS!!!!!! I cannot believe it!! Made it all so worth it!! That makes 18 total SO FAR before surgery. I am so super stoked!! In exactly one week I will be at the hotel recovering. #lovingthislife!!!

Hello everyone! My name is Jennie and I'm 39 and weigh 257lbs. I just found out yesterday that my insurance will cover me for the lap band this year. I'm so excited and nervous at the same time! I already registered with the bariatric service through my insurance and I have my consultation with True Results on Wed 2/20th. I've already taken the first steps and I have tremendous support from my family, friends and co-workers. I found this app yesterday and have already learned so much from reading all the threads. I know once I have my surgery my life will change forever! I look forward to sharing my story and learning more from all of you! =}

Hello all my name is Sami and I had my surgery on Feb 6th and I am down 40 pounds. Since I started this journey in May of 2012 I am down 102 pounds. I started out weighing 486 pounds and my first goal was to get under 400 pounds and after being weighed in last night I am proud to say I down to 384 pounds. I have decided to take small steps and make my monthly weight lose goal of 25 lbs a month. I decided to take this journey because I have 2 beautiful grand kids and I want to be able to go out side and play with them instead of staying in the house and watch them from a window. So after talking everything over with my husband I decided to have the surgery and to be hones…

Hello everyone! I'm beyond thrilled that I found this forum as I'm not telling too many people about my tentative surgery (you know how many people can be so quick to judge) and I know I'll need a support system. What better support than those that have gone through the same thing? I'm going to a weight loss surgery seminar tomorrow as I have yet to officially decide which surgery I'd like (although I am heavily leaning toward the sleeve). My first doctor's visit is scheduled for next week and I'm more than excited to get this ball rolling. Yet so nervous I could puke at the very same time (I'm guessing that's normal?). You guys have been extremely informative a…

Today is my 6th day post op. I feel great! Feel lighter; feel smaller, clothes are starting to fit loosly. This was the best decision of my life. Can't wait to start moving around outside. A little biking, a little hiking, and just some general outdoor fun. Now, I would like to discuss some disturbing dreams that I have been having since day 2 post op. I am not prone to nightmares, dreams are here and there. Sometimes I remember them sometimes I don't. My dreams have changed. I do not dream of being king, a pirate, the most attractive man in the world and I'm dating Jamie Leigh Curtis. (Don't tell my wife). No. I dream about FOOD! Yes food. Glorious food. Now I…

Hey everyone, My name is Mark and I am 20 years old (21 in May) from New York City; very excited to be a member here I have been overweight my entire childhood and adolescenthood and have taken it upon myself as my responsibility to better my health and overall worth of self via getting the lap band and the life journey that accompanies it. I have been researching being banded for a few years now but officially started the process in July 2012 by attending a seminar at NYU Medical Center where I met and chose my surgeon. After completing the six months diet required by insurance and some blood tests, I was finally able to get my psychological evaluation done this pas…

So I have decided to name my band "Brandi". Her and I have been getting along for the most part. She thinks she is the boss and is VERY vocal about it all day long. She did this great little magic trick this week in making 13 lbs disappear from my scale. I am not sure if this is a good amount for one week (too high or too low) but needless to say, I am listening to her and giving Brandi only the Clear liquids that is required. I am pretty much hating broth now but know that mush like food is coming soon. I have also discovered that I am stronger than I thought I was with this whole will power and determination. I have gone to restaurants this week (only ordered cle…

O.k. ladies and gentleman I had my surgery on 21 Jan in Weiden Germany. I was in the hospital for four days. I think that was the worst part for me. I got a liter of water in me the day after and have increased the intake everyday since. I got to eat my first "meal" day three. I had to force myself to eat and I'm still doing that. I'm getting 4 to 6 ounces of protein shake down at a time and not finding a "full" feeling, so I'm a little worried about that, time will tell. I read a post somewhere here about burping indicating you're full, so I'm using this as a guide. As far as pain I tolerate a great deal, so I would say I feel something uncomfortable and annoyin…

I was sleeved by Dr. Guillermo Alvarez in Mexico a week ago and would highly recommend this surgeon and his staff. They were very professional, facilities clean and modern, and the staff treated us like family. It was a very good experience. So far I've lost 15 pounds in the two week pre- op, and 10 since surgery. Yay! I hope the burning that occurs as I sip my liquids is just temporary....anyone else have knowledge about this?

Hello everyone! I was banded back in July of 2010. I had discomfort all the time and felt better when I layed down or at least layed back. Almost 1 year after I was banded, I had some complications. I had some bizarre symptoms, especially with my throat, and many tests. Nothing apparent was wrong. I was given meds for acid reflux. The meds made me sick so they were stopped. What felt best to my throat was bread and butter! And oatmeal with pecans. I slowly gained 25 pounds. For the last 1 1/2 years I have been getting acupuncture, chiropractic adjustments, and massage and can finally say I feel pretty good! I found that changing my diet to no sugar (or sugar substit…

All of my overweight life I never had a 'big' face. In fact, it was probably one of the smallest parts of my body. Last year after finding out I had a thyroid problem I had gained 65 lbs in 5 months. The weight this time went to my face (not all of it of course), it was the first time I had to LOOK at my once small face and see how disfigured it looked. It is still hard for me to see the photos without tearing up, but I wanted to share the difference weight loss has made in the shape of my face, as I continue to keep losing....

My name is Tabitha. I have not had my surgery just yet. I have done everything and been approved! I see my Dr for the last time before surgery on the 1st. I have a new friend that I've made through all of this and she will be sleeved in the morning. I'm 42, an OR nurse, wife and mother of 2. My husband and kids are not totally on board just yet. I had an open hysterectomy last year and no one likes to see the momma hurting. I'm doing this cause I'm tired of being fat, of having my back hurt all the time, of loosing my breath when I tie my shoes. You know things like that. I want to be around to grow old with my best friend/husband. I want to see grand kids one …

So, last night I had my first cream Soup. Broccoli cheese, 1 cup, 320 cal., puréed it to get the lumps out and ate within 30 minutes. ( really it was 7 but who's counting) Anyway, had some discomfort before going to bed. No big deal. Woke up this am excited to have a skim plus Protein shake. Again, 8 oz of milk and 1 tbsp of Greek yogurt to thicken it up. Drank slowly, and was having discomfort through the day. So I said to myself, self, you may want to read over that material you got at the post op class. So I did. Only to find out that I was to work up to 4 oz for each of my meals. IN THE NAME OF CAPTAIN KIRK WHAT THE HELL HAVE I DONE? Have I just screwed this wh…
