I have been on this roller coaster for so long that I have decided to self pay this time. I am going to be 50 tomorrow and want to become health, happy, with myself by doing something different. I struggled for so long with yo-yo diets and to only gain every pound back within weeks sometime months. I am looking to be sleeved on March 1, 2013 i…

I'm so afraid to do this and I have surgery scheduled for March 22. I'm afraid because it's a new surgery and there aren't many long term facts about how people fare. I'm a little afraid too because I had a panic attack after having my lapband removed. I'd never had one before and I actually had two after that. I don't have them now. I'm a broken person though and I need fixing. Pretty much out of other options. That's where I am and if it were my heart, I'd have surgery right? What are your thoughts?

194 this morning! Highest weight was 307, day of surgery was 192! I went from size tight 24's to 11/12 jeans and M/L tops! I am loving life! I eat normal, have never thrown up or felt bad! I did lose some hair - but the new growth I have now is amazing - and honestly, the thinning of the hair would never have stopped me from having this life changing surgery! I love crossing my legs, having men rush ahead to open doors, my husband wrapping one arm all the way around me, shopping any where I want, fitting in chairs - all chairs - easily and not worrying if they can hold me! I love that food does not control me - I make my choices! I love that I can have a cupcake …

  18. Well hi everyone. I asked a couple of questions before posting my hello but since I'm sure I'm going to be doing this surgery I figured I'd be formal and introduce myself. I'm 25 and live in Bloomington, MN. I have been overweight all my life. I've tried pretty much every diet out there, Jenny Craig, WW, Atkins, ketogenic, calorie counting you name it and nothing has worked. I've lost weight and gained it back quickly, usually plus some. About 6 months ago I went to a therapist to discuss other symptoms I was having and diagnosed with binge eating disorder. I've since been in therapy at The Emily Program (http://emilyprogram.com/) and since I feel like I'm coming along…

Hi everyone! I'm new to the group and just wanted to intro myself! I was approved for my surgery after participating in a 90 day exercise/nutrition program with my surgeon(per my insurance requirements). Since the start in November I have lost little over 11 lbs. most of which has been this week as my doctor requires you to do all liquids for 14 days prior to surgery. This is so difficult but getting much easier. I am so grateful to have a group to bounce ideas and get feedback and support from. Thank you! So excited for this new phase of life.

My journey began in August when I got a referral to see my lap band doctor. I didn't have the courage to admit something was wrong with my eating and I was just too ashamed to take the "easy" way out. As I learned more about the procedure and spoke to the doctors, the more I realized nothing is easy when it comes to weight loss when you truly enjoy food and don't make changes based upon one's physical activity. I waited until after the holidays and met with my doctor on Jan. 11th. I told no one of this decision not even my husband. I looked into all the appointments and got all the pre-tests that were needed. My immediate family supports me on this and understan…

Well I really need some feed back on this one. Do I begin fertilty treatments or have the surgery first? The problem is the age factor. My ob/gyn has told us because of issues with my husband and my age we would need fertility treatments to have a higher chance of concieving. However, he is not willing to do treatments after 46 years of age and guess who turns 46 this year, ME! He is willing to try 3 cycles which will give me a weight gain of course. The road to surgery is just lacking insurance approval, waiting on me to tell them to submit. If I have the surgery I woudl have to wait a year before we could try and that puts me closer to 48. Body position is everything. Move around, find a spot that is comforable. right side usually, this brings the gas away from the left shoulder. Belly pain is tolerable. I rate mine as a 3, dull consistant ache. Feels like I ate Thanksgiving dinner and I overate. Ask your surgeon if he is able to perform the surgeryvia single incision. I admit that 2-3 three years ago, I would have never considered this. My assessment of folks going in for bariatric procedures was that they needed stronger willpower. Of course, this was how I analyzed things as I yo-yo'd back and forth with my own weight. My wife began her journey 2 years ago and has since lost 100 lbs and truly begun to enjoy life more than she already was. I watched over this time frame as she would still occasionally struggle and came to realize that this is not an easy way out or cheating but rather a tool to help achieve an end. So, as I've once again yo-yo'd up to 300lbs, I've taken my first steps toward losing my weight for good. Met with…
