I am new to the forum. I live in the Charleston, SC area and I am having my rny on March 26th. I am nervous and excited but can't wait to start my new adventure in my life. I have been heavy my whole life from child hood to now. I am at my heaviest now and after having my daughtr 6.5 years ago, was diagnosed with PCOS and my hormones are so our of whack that I just can't lose the weight. I joined to forum to get support and make friends. I know I need a support system in place and people that know and understand what I am going through. I can't wait to read more success stories.

It's been 5 days since surgery and I thought I was sooooo prepared. But I still hurt on all my incisions. I hurt to walk, I hurt to cough, I hurt to spit out toothpaste for crying out loud. I'm 55 yrs old, and I think this might be my body telling me I don't heal as fast as I did when I was younger. But I've already missed 5 days of work and I don't feel any stronger. Since I paid a lot of money myself to do this, I find myself very down about the decision and wishing I hadn't done it. How stupid am I to pay good money to feel so bad! And then to maybe jeopardize my job?.

Hey everyone! I had surgery on Tuesday. Today is Sunday and I'm 14 pounds down! I can't believe I'm 14 pounds down... this is crazy!!! I'm still having a hard time getting my fluids and Proteins in though... I think the most Protein I've gotten in was 20 grams and fluids is 30 oz. I'm just gonna keep on trying to get the protein and fluids in. I know this might be too much info but... my pee stinks! It is really dark and stinky. I don't feel like I have a UTI but I might or it might just be slight dehydration... what do you think? The only thing I can do is keep sipping! I'm having my JP drain taken out on Wednesday. If it is still like this, should I mention it to m…

Went to the pharmacy today and the pharmacist didn't ask my name - instead he said hello and called me by name. I am 44 years old and though I appreciate great customer service being recognized by a pharmacist really struck me. Just reinforces my need for this surgery. And it can't come soon enough. ????

Hello everyone. I'm new here, my name is Danielle, I'm 34 years old. I had my surgery on January 28th at JT Mather Hospital in Port Jefferson Station, NY. Surgery was performed by Dr. Arif Ahmad. Pre surgery my weight was 263. One month post op, I'm down to 243. After the first week and a half I got down to 238, past few weeks I have not been losing, just gaining. Maybe I'm being impatient, but, does anyone know if this is normal? I would hate to think I went through all the pain of surgery to just lose twenty pounds. Thank you.

My journey to bariatric surgery began about 18 months ago. My insurance (HAP) required me to see my primary care physican 1 x a month for a year to track my weight loss efforts. I was given HAP approval the summer of 2012 and went to my first bariatric surgery orientation in Aug. 2012. I weighed 262 then. I saw my surgeon, Arthur Carlin (Henry Ford Hospital-Detroit) in September 2012 weighing in there at 257. I finally had my vertical sleeve surgery on Feb. 12, 2013 at Henry Ford Hospital and stayed 2 nights there. My last weigh in before surgery was Feb. 5 and my weight was 241. I had my 2 week post op visit w/ Dr. Carlin & the nutritionist on Wed., Feb. 27. …

I had to have my portal replaced three days ago. Apparently I had no restriction for over two years and did not pay attention due to personal tradegies. I lost my husband to stomach cancer and my father to pancreatic cancer almost to the day the next month. I've neglected my health and I need to get back on track before my next visit for a fill. I have been watching what I eat and excercise about thirty minus Mon-Friday. Saturday and Sunday about two hours. I belong to a fitness club and enjoy it. Please help, all responses would be appreciated!

Hey does anyone know if the Premier Protein drinks are okay to drink post op sleeve? I'm 1 week out and bought them and they actually taste better than any other protein I've had. And they are 11 ozs which I know is too much. Would 8 ozs be acceptable to drink?? Thanks!

My name is Lauren and I had the sleeve done in April 2012. So far I've lost 152 lbs. I started at 414, which was a horrifying number to me to even look at. Have had no problems after surgery and have not once gotten sick. Lately because I feel like I have no restrictions, and after the holidays I'm finding it hard to get back on track. I used to be really disciplined and was eating every 2-3 hrs and was making sure I got all my protein. Now I find myself reaching those choices that I know I shouldn't have. Anyone else having these same issues, I just feel like I'm too comfortable and I need to get back on track and lose these last 40lbs! I've tried support groups in my ar…

It's now been 6 years that I started my weight loss "Journey" mmmmm not sure I want to classify it as a "Journey"! Think I would prefer "learning curve" I'll keep the work Journey for more fun type events. Good news is, I used to be 155Kg's now I am steady at 100 - 105. It's like all forums, you study and read as much as you can, once you get through to the other side, you never return to these forums, and while I am sitting here eating my breakfast at Port Macquarie (I don't live here, just passing through) I thought I would put my self out there. I will give a a brief outline and if you have questions please ask. I am currently 52 YO healthy married Australian male…

I had my operation on 20th Feb, and I am currently 12 days post-op. I had to be at the hospital 1 day early, as there were 1 or 2 more tests that needed to be done. My surgeon was Mr Gee. He is actually a lecturer in one of the universities here, however he is also a specialist in bariatric operation. He is totally awesome! Apparently my operation went for quite some time... Longer that what my sister expected it to be anyways. I did not have any issues with vomiting or extreme abnominal pain after the op. I only had some gassy feeling in my lower bowels. When my specialist came to see me the next afternoon once I was out of the recovery place and in the ward, he said h…

I just found out my surgeon's office charges $20 a meeting to attend the support group meetings. Is this normal? It's not that I can't afford the $20, but it just seems like bad taste to have the in-house psychiatrist charging money for a support group. Has anyone else been frustrated with their surgeon center? I swear every dealing I've had with them has been an issue. First my one and only nutrition meeting was a bust because the dietician kept dozing off while she was talking. She was sick and I felt bad for her, but now that I'm sitting here one week post-op struggling with what I can eat, I see that I could've used a dietician who was at her best. Then the F…

So I was sleeved on the 26th am home recovering now (at my moms Who is a nurse from heaven). She's been helping me with EVERYTHING I definitely suggest having someone around for a week after as you will definitely be sore and moving around is rough (even shifting in bed). Have been taking pain Meds to help with the pain and also have not BM'ed since the morning of the day of surgery. Tried a few times but my belly is too sore to push hard enough. Used wind miralax today and still nothing. Anyone have this happen to them also?

My last dietary visit is Monday and then we can submit to insurance for approval. The person helping me with insurance says its a slam dunk and should be a quick approval, hope she's right. I've attended the seminars, consulted with doctors, jumped through all the hoops and have done six months of dietary visits, I want to get this thing going. For many years I was heavy but healthy and active then I had a major colon surgery and had a bag for several months plus many complications and was laid up for over a year combined with getting psoriatic arthritis. All the laying around robbed me of muscle and I gained even more weight until I became a very fat and unhealthy pe…

I am 1 week and 1 day post op and I am feeling hungry and I kind of thought that would subside by now. I have some idea of what to eat but not clear on how much to eat. Basically I thought I knew what I was getting into but now I feel like I dont really know how to use this band anymore. Its hard cooking normal meals for my family and my 5yr old asking why I am not eating. There's a lot of emotions I didnt know would happen and a lot of confusion on if I am eating right or doing the right things with my band. My first fill is on the 18th and I almost wish it was sooner so I dont have to feel so hungry. Anyone have any advice or ideas as to a meal plan maybe? I know I shou…

My stomach or what feels like my intestine has had a really loud persistent gurgling every minute of the last 10 hours Its like a rumbling monster that starts up in my left upper quadrant, and roars down like its going to be gas then painfully stops and shoots the gurgling back in to my gut. I have taken gas x strips, and have the colace but havent taken any because they are gel caps and Ive heard that we cant take gel caps. I have only passed gas once and almost went in my pants. I have not had a bm since surgery Wed but have only been drinking water and gatorade a little tomato juice and some sips of protein drink, which I think was the problem. Sorry for the TMI but yo…

We all have a story, good, bad, long, troubled, blessed or any combination. Let me start with the good and blessed. I'm am 28, a mother of one beautiful 2yr old daughter and getting my sleeve surgery late April. Like I said, blessed. Okay so the bad...my weight has been an issue for my whole life. Well the last part of the story...the troubled. I am having so much guilt. Guilt about getting this surgery and not losing weight like the contestants on "The Biggest Loser". Am I taking the ea…
