I had my gastric bypass surgery a little over 2 years now. I lost 85 lbs, the just stopped losing. I was ok with that, of course I want to still lose more. I maintained that weight for a year and a half, almost. In the last 2 months, I have gained 10 to 15 lbs. Its killing me, I feel terrible. My weakness is sweets. Can't seem to get enough of them. Does anyone have any alternatives, or recipes for cookies, cakes, any kind of sweets? Or what are some good healthy recipes for snacks? Would love any kind of help.

Hey all.... Some of us figured it would be easier to buddy up so that we could follow each other through the process from here on out. I'm scheduled for surgery on Sept 8th and I start my liquid diet on Sept. 1st. Everything happened so quickly after my last NUT appt. yesterday..... I am feeling a combo of nerves and excitement. I have to get labs done tomorrow morning, I see my surgeon on Thursday, and I have my pre-op next Tuesday. My husband has taken a few days off work to be with me and I have started making a list of things I need before the big day. ......... I can't wait to be on the losers bench.

I had my RNY June 20 th. I have lost 62 pounds. But this last two days I have had this tear, burning pain really low on left side. It shoots from about 3-4 inches long. But it starts if I sneeze, move wrong or twist. It’s not constant but it lets me know it’s still there. I called surgery office they seem to think it’s normal but idk. If I kinda push in on the area it’s sore. I did not lift or do anything to cause pulled muscle. I’m kinda worried it might be hernia or lord knows what. It’s almost even maybe a tad lower than belly button and about 6 inches to the left. Any help or ideas appreciated.

I am over a year and 3 months out from gastric bypass surgery and lately I have been getting a burning pain in my chest every time I take my prescription medications and vitamins in the morning. This just started a couple of weeks ago. Has anyone else had this happen to them?

I’m now 13 months post successful gastric bypass surgery. What can I do to eliminate foul gas? Family are fed up and I’m nervous about dating (I’m divorced ) a,loud flatulence b, smelly & loud flatulence. I have been taking probiotics, 1st brand was unsuccessful and 2nd brand has made difference but not cured the problem. I know in the States you can buy Devrom, but it’s unavailable in England at the moment plus the cost is prohibitive! Any suggestions?

Sorry if this is TMI...but I am 4 weeks out and been tolerating everything great—no issues. today, I had to strain very hard to have a bowel movement. Now, not only do I feel like I still need to go, but I have developed a burning pain that if I move just right is when I feel it—it’s not continual. But it feels like maybe I strained a muscle in my belly. It’s between the belly button and the scar where they removed the stomach out of. Has anyone experienced this? Should I be worried? Obviously I need to drink more water......but I’m worried about the pain.

Anybody's doctor say the patches were okay to use. How'd your blood work come back? My doctor said no. Not because he believes they don't work but more so they aren't as tried and tested I guess. There's more certainty that I'll get the vitamins I need by taking them orally. However, there's so many of them. Not to mention I have other meds that I take that can't be taken with the vitamins. It's a struggle to space everything out and to fit everything in. I'm considering going rogue and trying the patches anyway and then just have my primary check my levels after a few weeks. I'd appreciate hearing some patch experiences good or bad.

Hi everyone, I had surgery May 7th. I’m currently down about 75lbs. At the beginning I had major buyers remorse, nothing felt right everything was new (but not in a good way). I am just now starting to notice changes In myself in pictures. I have recently been out of town for school. I didn’t need a seat belt extender on the plane. I walked through the airport no problem, I walked to and from university every day, I was able to fit in the seats with no worry. The coolest thing is last night I went whale watching, everyone gets a coat...it fit! Never before would I have fit in to some sort of standard issue clothing. I’m not even sure why I’m making this post, e…

I accidentally double-posted another topic so I thought I'd erase that duplicated content and put something else in its place. Is this the best I could do? Apparently. Did I put much effort into thinking of something else to post? Not really. Anyway... in case you've forgotten how to update your stats (all the information under your username) try following these steps. Make sure your dog, cat, or bird is watching so you can impress them. 1. Go to PATIENTS (top of page). 2. Select MY SURGERY. 3.a. Update the information under SURGERY 3 b. Select PROGRESS (see squiggly arrow on left side of screen) to update even more! 4. Paste a gold st…

Hey y’all so today I want to show you the amount I can eat at 20 days post op. Remember every hospital has their own guidelines what you may or may not eat. So I took this as an example. After I have my dinner st 6 pm. I always have something at 8 pm. And that’s the final eating moment for me. Which works for me. First picture is what I thought I could eat. And the second picture is the left over. I’m full. So I stopped eating. Raspberries, blackberries, golden berries and tiny nuggets of goat cheese.

Hi All, It's been three weeks and two days. I thought the weight would be flying off post op, but it's not really. I entered the surgery at 292 and today, I'm 276 and have been here for about a week, sometimes going up a little but coming back down to 276. I'm not doing great at tolerating food, which rolls me into slider territory with quest bars and extra protein shakes. I know I need to restock on eggwhites and maybe some fish so I have compliant, healthy, protein packed foods at the ready. I'm working out and going on long walks with my dog consistently. feeling a bit disheartened by getting on the scale and seeing that number over and over. I'm using myfitness pal...…

Hi everybody. I’m 18 days post op and so far I had one dumping episode because I ate to fast. But other than that, it’s pretty much smooth sailing so far (fingers crossed it continues to be) very thankful for that. Today I realized more than ever I’m a food addict. And I admit today I’m a food addict. I was in denial. And I always didn’t understand why I went back to eating junk once I tasted it again after a long period of dieting. ? and now today, I wholeheartedly admit I’m an addict! I promised myself that I will never eat junk food again and drink fizzy sodas. Once I go back to eating on bite, I will go back for more. Come on, who can eat one bit of a cookie …

Hi everyone, I'm currently doing my 6 month physician supervised weight loss prior to having my gastric bypass. I'm probably going to have a surgery date sometime in late February or early March of 2019. What worries me is that I'm also in college and this is going to be at the beginning of the semester. Should I take a semester off while I have the surgery and recoup or is it possible to have my surgery, take a few days off to recoup and carry on my schoolwork? I'm afraid that I might have to miss a week and receive a failing grade or at least one less than what I deserve simply because I had to have surgery.

Today makes one year since my Gastric Sleeve. I lost 60 lbs and made my goal weight. I've learned a lot about myself and my eating habits. I also realize that each day has to be taken one day at a time as far as food is concerned. One bad day doesn't ruin all of the next days as one successful day doesn't guarantee future success. My WLS has been a great tool for rapidly loosing the weight and giving me that weigh loss success. The hard part started when I reached goal and that is to maintain the weight loss and continue to be healthy. One year ago I was a type 2 diabetic, had high BP, gout, Gerd and was in a continual downward spiral as far as health was concerned. Toda…

Headache I think I was so cocky with saying everything is going smoothly with recovery and no dumping that it caught up to me. Good lord , it’s no joke when they say you can have dumping syndrome. Hey everyone, im about to leave for an all inclusive vacation to Cuba next week and I’m a little nervous about the food situation. Im two months out and can tolerate all food just fine. No dumping yet (knock on wood!) and my pouch hasn’t rebelled against anything. It will be 7 days of breakfast, lunch and dinner buffets and I’m not sure how I’m gonna ensure that I stick to my food plan. Breakfast should be easy enough with eggs but I’m super nervous about the lunch and dinner. I know that I won’t intentionally eat poorly because my old cravings are pretty much gone (although I will be missing the pina coladas!) but how do I ensure that I am eating correctly? …

I had the lapband switched to the gastric bypass in March of 2012. My heaviest was 280. Now I am 113. My surgeon gave me a feeding tube which did nothing and hurt like hell. I have zero appetite. No food looks or tastes good to me anymore. I am always nauseous. I have zero energy, and some days cannot even get out of bed. Everything I eat makes me sick. My hubby and I try to find a pattern to what causes my dumping syndrome. But we are at a loss. The worst part is, I have a son who is going to be 5 next week. I am lucky to have lots of help w him from my mom and my hubby. But he sees how weak I am. I can’t keep up w him and take him to a park even. I cannot find much at …

Hey everybody, I was hoping to ask the people that had the surgery over 5 years now and how they deal with weight regain. Today I was reading some articles about it and it really worried me. I’m 16 days post op and I’m still in the beginning of my journey, but the fact that we’re likely are going to regain weight makes me so sad and really depressed. I took a huge step in having this surgery and so far I’m just doing everything I can , but it’s such a defeating feeling knowing that I’m just in “honeymoon” period as they call and that in the future I’ll be heavier once I hit my goal weight. So my question is how are you dealing with this knowledge ??? And do…

Today was a very gratifying visit with my surgeon today. At 6 weeks, I got my 10# weight restriction removed, got cleared to consume my gall-bladder and prilosec meds in the capsule, and officially progressed to real foods. I was worried because it feels like my weight loss stalled, but the doctor told me I had lost 15 pounds since I saw him last. He also said that at 6 weeks out, people typically lose between 16-25% excess weight. He said I was ahead of that, almost 27%. But now onto the good stuff. What can I eat? For example, I was thinking about making taco meat with ground turkey and then mixing the meat with salsa. I was also thinking of making the meat …

I can not tolerate milk anymore. My surgery isn’t until October. My NUT suggested soy milk and Bolthouse farms pea protein unsweetened milk. I have them both and would like to know about cooking with them. My husband isn’t a milk drinker but I do cook him food that requires milk. It would just go to waste after I used the small amount needed for his food. Have any of you cooked with the soy or pea protein milk? If so how did it turn out?

Hi (I posted this is post op questions by accident but wondered if I should put this here..) I’m a 43 year old female who weighs 75kg. I am 158cm tall and I had a gastric sleeve done in June 2017. I am apparently one of the few who has not lost a single kilo since my surgery. In fact, I was at 69kg when I got it done so if anything, I’ve put on 6kg since. My doctor has offered me a gastric bypass which I have accepted and booked in. I have a really sweet tooth which is my biggest issue. I just can’t stop. Just wondering, what is it really like to have a sweet tooth then suddenly get a bypass? If you had your chance, would you have gotten it or is th…

2 years post op and lost nearly 200 pounds. I have been in a stall for almost a year. I fluctuate about 10 pounds (gain and then loss) but I cannot get below the 190 mark. I have tried everything! I workout 5 days a week, try to stay at 1200 canals although with the excercise calorie adjustment it is usually around 1500c. I feel EXTREMELY guilty when I put anything bad in my mouth but then there a days ( usually once a month) when I will go on a mini binge and have little snacks throughout the day that are completely unhealthy. I love the way I feel but I still have fat brain and I am EXTREMELY frustrated that I can’t drop below 190! Btw...this is my first post, I usuall…

It’s almost surgery day (yay ?) and I still don’t have any vitamins nor have I been talked to about which kind of vitamins to buy (?). I’ve done my research and know that I have to have a multivitamin, which I chose the Bariatric Advantage Multi Chewy Bites, but other than that I don’t know what else to get just for protective measures. I prefer high quality vitamins because I’m going to be taking these for the rest of my life and don’t want them to be mostly fillers, you know? Anybody else that picky, or is it just me??? More specifically, I’m looking for vitamins to boost hair growth so it’s not so bad when it starts falling out. The multivitamin has biotin…

Going through process to get approved for Bypass after Sleeve. Sleeved in 2012 and have regained the 70 lbs lost. Acid reflux is returning, though it never fully went away. Just turned 55 and wondering about process and healing now that I've gotten older. I was a nervous wreck prior to getting gastric sleeve and once again find myself in that space. Same surgeon so that makes me feel better. He is one of the top bariatric surgeons in country but surgery is surgery. Woke up this morning thinking about bowel obstruction, and long term issues. Anyone over 50 have any issues post conversion?

I had surgery in April. It's been 4 months. I went from 340lbs to 255lbs, which is a total of 85lbs down. I'd rather have the weight loss than the hair anyways but... I just need a moment to mourn the loss of my hair! I'm literally pulling clumps out every day. Some people say they can't notice their hair loss. You can 100% notice mine. I hope it stops soon otherwise I won't have any hair left over! I'm going to buy a wig topper this weekend. Sighhh.... can't wait for regrowth.

Hi all: Went out with a group from work last night and was able to enjoy myself drinking my delicious, delicious ice water with lime. But I'll admit, I really wanted to order a manhattan. I've only ever been a 1-2 drinks a week kind of guy, but I really enjoy those 1-2 drinks. Have you started drinking? When did you start? How did it go? Anything to worry about? I was something of a margarita connoisseur, but I'm worried about the sugar content. I've heard you can drink, but you may feel the effects very quickly. What should I be thinking about here?

Hey y’all. Today marks the 8th day since I had my surgery. There are a few things that I want to talk about. So far , it has been a relatively a positive experience. I don’t regret having the surgery. BUT I do wish I was more informed about certain things... First, I thought by having the gastric bypass surgery, I wouldn’t experience the hunger sensation that makes me feel like I’m with drawing from drugs, but unfortunately I’m still having the hunger sensations and withdrawing symptoms of food. Which I just have to go through I guess until it gets better. Second, I’m experiencing a full blown head hunger at the moment. My stomach is satisfied but my head is craving …

I had 2 eggs with a sprinkle of low fat cheese for dinner last night. This was my first “real meal” a few days ago so I wasn’t concerned. Until. About 20 minutes later I started feeling sick, and had a heavy feeling in my chest. It lasted for 2 hours. I had an irrational fear that if I threw up I would choke, but I couldn’t hold it in any longer. Why the choking fear? I have no clue. Finally threw up some slime and then half the guys. I felt better after but still extremely full and still nauseous, just not as bad. I ate too fast, and took bigger bites than I should. I definitely learned my lesson. I am back to liquids today because I still feel a little sick. J…

I’m 9 months post op and was doing great. Down 110 lbs since surgery and following all the rules. Then on August 10th, my big brother died suddenly from a massive heart attack. I’m spiraling. I’m not hitting any nutrition goals. I’m barely eating, barely drinking and don’t know how to even begin to process this loss. I feel like I’m drowning. When my mom died 8 years ago (her funeral and my brother’s were 8 years to the day apart) I was pregnant. Once my daughter was born, the grief hit me and i turned to food and put on 45 lbs. this time- I can’t do that. I won’t do that. So I’m drowning in grief with no idea how to cope with it because I can’t eat my feelings. I don’t e…
