Hi everyone. It’s been a minute since I’ve posted. I had my procedure in 2016. I’ve lost a good amount of weight but now I’m starting to gain weight. I know I’ve been eating the wrong foods. My sweet tooth/junk food cravings are starting to take over. It’s like I try to stop the cravings but I keep eating. I also noticed that I have a lot of gas everyday all day long. Somebody talk to me before I lose this battle.

I am post revision from sleeve to bypass 5 weeks today and I'm starting to transition to a more normal diet. I had a really tough time in the beginning with dehydration and then I had a stay back in the hospital for a bowel obstruction, but I am doing much better now. My eating has gone pretty well the last week. There were a few things my stomach just didn't like but I am learning what it likes and doesn't like. I just wondered what others normal daily menu looked like what portion sizes you are eating. I know everyone one post-op plans and doctors orders seem to be different, so I though it would be interesting to see what others are doing. If you want post pic…

Hey guys! I'm new to this app and wanted to go head and do my first post. I had the sleeve surgery done yesterday (Wednesday around noon) I'm a 29 year old female (I'll be 30 in December ?) my starting weight was 254.8 and After my 3 day clear liquid diet I was 246.8 the morning of surgery. I'm still in the hospital and hoping to be discharged tomorrow (Friday) Waking up in the recovery room I'll be honest was hell. pretty sure I wasn't on pain meds but if I was they deff wasn't working. Got moved to my room and was just in horrible horrible pain for a good hour straight. I had shortness of breathe and found myself taking deep gasps of air. I finally got to take 2 small p…

I’m currently pregnant and my OBGYN is clueless on how to care for patients who have had Bariatric Surgery.. she wants me to do a glucose challenge test to check for gestational diabetes. I’m supposed to drink 75grams of glucose.. obviously it will cause me dumping syndrome. She didn’t know what dumping syndrome is and asked me to look for an alternative because the HbA1C wouldn’t give her a clear indication of gestational diabetes. Anyone with experience here?

Hello everyone. It has been a while since I have been on here. Just wanted to check in an let everyone know what's going on. First things first, we found out we are going to be first time grandparents. We are very excited. Next, I blew the engine on my brand new 2018 Jeep Compass. I am fighting with FCA about trying to get rid of it. My dad was sent home with Hospice (he lives in Texas and I live in Michigan). Then on Friday (7 Sept 2018) one of the guys I work with rushed me to the emergency room. Turns out I had a blocked bowel. Scar tissue had formed and blocked the bowel. Luckily they caught it in time and the bowel did not die. They had to fillet me like a fish and …

Started my pre-op diet today. I am starting it 6 days early because of extremely poor eating the last 3 weeks - I need to get to my starting weight since I gained a few pounds. Because I only have enough advanced recovery shakes for the 15 days I am supposed to be on the pre-op, I am probably going to supplement with a hard boiled egg or something of that sort. Doc is fine with all this. My formal pre-op diet starts the 16th. 2 Atkins shakes a day, 1 Advanced Recovery shake, and 1 Atkins/Healthy Choice meal. I figure I'll have 1 shake in the a.m., the meal for lunch, 1 shake at 5ish, and 1 shake shortly before bedtime and that should tide me over. The Atkins shakes a…

Today started my 7 days of the liquid diet. I'm not really hungry but my head says I want to eat. So I think the hard part for me might be fighting with my head and not my stomach. I have always given to that little voice in my head. I have to stay strong! I WILL stay strong! I want and need this to bad to screw it up this close to the goal. Surgery is within my reach. Countdown begins now.

Today is my first day posting so forgive me if I don’t get the lexicon right the first time. Surgery Date: March 5, 2018 Starting Weight: 261 Surgery Day Weight: 250 Today’s Weight (Week 1): 241 I had a 90 day program working with a dietician and completing all of the pre-operative testing culminating in a 3 day liquid diet prior to surgery. The first day of the liquid diet was hard, but the excitement of my upcoming surgery made the other two days fairly easy. I arrived at the hospital last Monday morning at 5:45 am and was wheeled into surgery at 7:45 am. I don’t remember much of that first day but I was up and walking that afternoon and evening. I was sore and there …

I'm 6 weeks out. I'm having no issues getting water in, but eating is a whole other story. I'm really struggling. I'm lucky if I eat one small Okios 15g protein yogurt a day. I have tried new foods, but 95% of things tend to cause pain in my stomach area, and then about 10 minutes later, I'm vomiting. I'm almost scared to even eat anymore. Does anyone have suggestions for me? Do you all use Genepro or Isopure? Yogurt and Potatoes are really the only thing my stomach likes. I'm getting scared because I know my body is not getting enough nutrients.

I'm just short of being 3-months post-op and the last week I have been getting extremely constipated. Anyone else have this problem? Or have had this? Is 3 months to soon to eat things like Cheerios? I am trying to figure out what is causing it. For the most part I don't think I even exceed 600 calories a day and its mostly still soft foods. And I seem to have become intolerant to eggs, yay me.

Hi, Pals. Just wanted to check in now that I am 7 days post op. I had my gastric bypass on August 29. Went home on August 30. I have been on liquid diet since coming home. About to start pureed phase tomorrow. Everything has been going well. The pain has been manageable. I still have some bouts of pain, but much less than before. I have not been exercising yet, but plan to start that soon. I hope all other August surgery patients are doing well!

So I’m roughly one month before surgery and curious what others did to prepare. I’m ordering vitamins so that I can make them a routine, I’ll stop the relaxing drink or two after dinner and start walking more but is there anything else that would be a good idea? My physician meeting is one week prior to surgery so any liquid diet will be less then seven days, which I’m not looking forward to doing!

I’m almost 3 years out of gastric bypass .. I’ve lost a lot of weight but maintained a healthy BMI for most.. I’m currently pregnant and started off with a BMI of 22.. as my pregnancy progresses I’m finding it harder and harder to eat.. I feel constantly hungry but can only eat very very very small amounts of food and worry that my baby will end up with a low birth weight if I don’t get in enough calories. My vitamin levels are all ok and I’m taking a special prenatal vitamin for bariatric patients.. now I’m thinking of adding high calorie shakes to my diet. Problem is that anything with high fat will cause me diarrhea (like nestle Boost VHC), anything with dairy I can’t …

I take my vitamins and calcium and I can stomach jello. Is anyone else experiencing this? Help. I suck on ice too hydrate myself.

How do I start this? I feel great?? Haven't had anything bad happen. No nausea, no dumping, or any of the other things they warn you about. What DOES bother me is that I am tired as hek ALL the time. I went back to work 2-weeks post-op but half days (like 4 hours/day). I am now pulling 6-hour days starting very early in the morning when I have the most energy. But when that 1:00/2:00 pm hour rolls around I HIT a brick wall. Anyone else like this? People lecture me about it, and how this kind of major surgery could take a year to get back to normal, whatever normal is at this point. My surgeon warned me about hitting a plateau around 3-4 week post-op, and it is d…

Hi all Have the flu (ugh)... and so sick to my stomach. Had husband go buy some bread or crackers to settle my stomach. Had bypass 9 1/2 months ago and have been pretty good with foods etc. I’m beyond my goals and honestly need to stop losing weight. All that said.... in the past two days I’ve eaten a TON of oyster crackers (whole box) and about 5 pieces of bread . I hadn’t had any bread type items in over 9 months so I feel like I’m failing.... even though it was just to settle stomach. I easily ate the bread and crackers with no restriction etc as far as I could tell but maybe ate too fast anyhow. Ugh. Am I on proverbial slippery slope ?! Kinda frea…

So I am in the preop stages of insurance approval etc. I have been doing research and have a strange question and can't really figure out the answer. Sorry if this is a stupid question. So from what I have read a few months after surgery you will be on solid food and eating a maintenance diet (re. calories, protein etc) for the rest of your life. This will be around 800-1000 calories. So how can people still be 200 lbs. etc years later? If the average person burns a lot more than 1200 calories then that wouldn't eventually a year or 2 after surgery a person would be underweight? Do you increase your calories after a year?

Got the call today that I was approved for gastric bypass. It’s taken eight months to get to this point, insurance took 13 calendar days to approve and it must be done by 12/31 or I go back through the approval process. Kind of freakin out that right now. They want to schedule for mid November so I have a short window. Was starting to think of doing it after the holidays so there was as little disruption as possible during that time but now pressure is on. One thing is for sure BMI of 47 does not work for me. How hard is the first couple of months and first year? How long were you out for work?

This is the first blood-draw I've had that looks at any possible deficiencies after my bypass. My next blood-draw is at six months. After that, it's yearly. Certain results suggested borderline anemia. Also, my B12 was 6,000 with 900 being the maximum in the normal range. From now on, I'm only planning to take B12 weekly instead of daily. Other than my Vitamin D (which is always low), everything seemed okay. My son helped me interpret the results; he's a medical doctor. I asked the nurse the same questions, but she wasn't able to answer them and she didn't offer to ask the doctor for me, so I didn't bother following up with her. At this three-month visit my doct…

A bezoar \ˈbē-ˌzō(ə)r \ is a hard solid mass of indigestible material that can build up over time and possibly cause an obstruction. Bezoars can be classified into four types depending on the type of material swallowed. Trichobezoars \ˌtrik-ō-ˈbē-ˌzō(ə)rz \ are composed of hair and are most commonly associated with patients who have a psychiatric disorder. Pharmacobezoars \ˌfärmə kō- bē-ˌzō(ə)rz\ are composed of undigested medication. Lactobezoars \ˌlaktō- bē-ˌzō(ə)rz \ are more commonly seen in neonates and are comprised of milk curd. The bezoar associated with gastric bypass is a post-operative complication called a phytobezoar \ˌfīt…

Hi All! I've found some studies that suggest that some weight loss surgery patients are more prone to migraines post-op, however at almost 15 weeks post-op myself I'm finding the opposite and have not had a single headache. I wonder if it's because I've cut sugar, alcohol and caffeine from my diet? Curious if anyone else is experiencing this amazing benefit?

I had my gastric bypass surgery at the end of January.. The first month is the worst. Liquid diet and getting over the procedure. After that it's a breeze. There isn't much I can't eat. Avoid sugar. It upset your stomach and gives you gas. Beer is out too. The foam fill your stomach. I mostly drink vodka and water with kool-aid drops. I was 285 lbs before surgery. Now I'm down to 190 lbs Stick to it and you'll be fine

So I had rny at the end of July. I was eating around 700 calories a day and working to get my water in. About 2 weeks ago I began getting nauseous and vomiting after eating and was only getting around 300 a day. My surgeon did another EGD on Friday 9/21, enlarged a stricture a found a large ulcer. I felt much better over the weekend then early Monday morning I began vomitting large blood clots! My surgeon sent me to ER and I was in ICU for a day and a regular room all week long. I guess the ulcer eroded a vessel that needed clipped and I’ve been without food for the last week. I hope to go home tomorrow, I’ll be back on clear liquids and go through the progre…

So I posted before because after I got home from surgery I wasn't losing any weight and for 3 weeks, not a pound. Then finally by my one month anniversary I was losing a lbs a day. I weigh myself on Sunday, but I just happen to hop on this morning and wish I didn't, I gained 3 lbs in 3 days. I'm utterly deviatated and beyond depressed. Needless to say I hid the scale from myself, but tomorrow I have to go to my dietitian's appointment a failure.

I had my revision surgery on May 22, 2018 from sleeve to bypass. It has been very difficult regarding food intake. I am not hungry and eat only when hungry. I stay away from all the bad food but my spouse is not supportive. Prior to surgery we went out to eat on a regular basis. He still wants us to continue to go out to eat and expects me to eat the way I used to prior to the surgery. He gets upset when I tell him I am not hungry or order something small. I sometimes just ask for an extra plate and eat off his plate but he ends up serving me a large amount off his plate. He always makes hurtful comments regarding my food intake. I remind myself that I did the initial su…
