I just now got to start eating soft foods and I took a few bites started to hiccup and figured I should maybe stop just in case that was my “signal” that I was full. Honestly I’m afraid to try to eat because I don’t want to over do it. I’m following all my NUT orders for eating but still just worried about not getting a feeling of fullness or whatever it is that says “hey stop”.

Has anyone else dealt with major nausea? I am one week today post op and have had to go to hospital twice now for fluids because of the nausea. Yesterday was horrible as I couldn’t even take a sip of water without vomiting. After the hospital yesterday my nausea meds were changed to phenergan over the Zofran and it has helped some. I received two or three bags of fluids yesterday (really disoriented I forget for sure) and was able to drink a whole g2 today. I still cannot get down any of the protein shakes. I even tried watering them down a bit thinking perhaps the consistency was to much for this angry temperamental belly. I see all these people doing so much bett…

The more horror stories I read here, the more I'm beginning to regret getting RNY a couple of weeks ago. All I seem to read is how people throw up constantly, start dumping and have a myriad of health complications. I'm just hoping that that vast majority of people who live happy and healthy lives after RNY just aren't posting as much. I've been very fortunate to not have had any complications so far. I'm still on the liquid stage but I really have not had problems downing liquids all day (as long as I remember to bring them with me). I'm praying that when I can start eating food, they go down without a fight. Does vomiting feel the same with gastric bypass as…

Anyone else have these? I am 4 days post op. I have a call in to the surgeon on call (no call back yet after 3 hrs ?)... hoping to get a muscle relaxer instead of taking so much oxy, since the cramps are the only real pain I still have. Just curious if anyone had the cramping pains on the left side of belly button... similar to when they took out the drain) and if so, when they went away. It does sound like they’re fairly normal- but they’re killing me. I just need to have an end in sight!

So I’ve been seeing a ton of posts about people feeling rough after surgery or hopeless and I just want to say it does get better! Be strong and hang in there because you are worth it. Your reasons for having this surgery are worth it. Your health is worth it. Ignore the haters because they love to see you fail. I was so down about my surgery and honestly I still question it but I am only 2 weeks out. Today was the best day yet though because I just weighed and I’m 5 pounds from the 100s! Take the small victories where you get them in the first few weeks and celebrate having a new life to look forward to! There may be bumps in the road but you are strong enough to get thr…

I have an awful allergy to peanuts and 8 different tree nuts. Almonds are one of them that almost killed me last Christmas. I didn’t even know I was allergic to any of them until a couple bites of an Asian salad with almond slivers . I woke up in the hospital on a vent. Scary as hell. I never want to do that again. I want to make a couple of the recipes I have seen . But they all call for almond flour. Have any of you tried garbanzo bean flour or lentil flour in any if the recipes that call for almond flour? Thank you in advance.

  13. I am scheduled for surgery on July 31st. In looking at my pros and cons and what I'm most worried about in this life style change is - the possibility of "crapping my pants". I have always had what my husband calls "bad guts". I am lactose intolerant and tend to stay away from all dairy but still love cheese. I have history of CDiff (for 3 months in 2015) and have had diarrhea at least 3 times a week for as long as I can remember. I have been on and off Metformin for last 4 years - its worse with Metformin but still existent without. I have never had an accident - but have had several near misses with CDiff and am terrified to live life long like that... Has anyone had di…

I don’t know if this will change down the road when I’m back on solids or if this is the new normal? Anyone else experience this?

It's starting to get to my head. I've been trying to increase activity, but nothing seems to work. Any advice would be appreciated.

Ok, so my doctor's office finally sent in my paper work to my insurance. While I'm waiting I've started my liquid diet. Does this make sense to anyone? Since it's not officially approved I feel like doing the liquid thing for no reason....but I'm on day 4. Sent from my SM-G928T using BariatricPal mobile app

Right now, at one-month post-op (and starting during the last few months of pre-op), my daily life has been all about my surgery and protein and fluids and exercise and this forum. More and more, I’ve been actively seeking diversions from this focus. Not food-related diversions, though. . My career requires a tremendous amount of creative focus, so I need to be able to break away from “this WLS life” that has been taking center stage. Does this make sense? I intend to follow and keep up with the various lifestyle changes that I’ve committed to, but it’s becoming too much of too much. Visiting this site multiple times per day is bordering on an addiction.…

I told my son I was going to lie down upstairs. I went upstairs and took some liquid Tylenol for the back pain. Suddenly I felt flushed, rapid heart beat and the pain in my back became unbearable. I couldn't sit. I couldn't lie down. I just sat at the edge of my bed rocking and moaning and dizzy. Then, I felt pangs of pain, kind of like inside under the top of both rib cages on both sides. I'm worried about loud stomach gurgling, loud uncontrollable flatus, and super stinky poops. I work in an office and may sometimes have to go to court, and loud rumbling and gas would be very embarrassing! Help!!! Sent from my SM-N950U using BariatricPal mobile app

However can’t and couldn’t digest most cleaner foods ... just ate here and there for survival. I’ve been stuck at this weigh since early June... my first actual plateau. Years ago when I was dieting my weight always struggled to be lower than this... I would expect with bypass that I could teach my goal of 120 easily... my surgeon was even confident in that- considering I’m only 5’2.... I feel fat and disgusting... I eat tiny portions. Any of you been stuck for a long time and then lost a bunch again? .... I know …

I’ve had terrible heartburn most days since my bypass 2.5 weeks ago. They sent me home from the hospital on Prilosec and then made it twice a day. Hi, I’m having a revision from the band to bypass. Right now my band is unfilled but there’s still some restriction. When I eat with the band the small pouch causes me to stop eating after a few bites but then I’m able to start up again after 15 minutes. I’m concerned that this will happen with the RNY and then I’ll be grazing all day. Is the gastric bypass more effective than the band on terms of how fullness feels?
