I am very curious to know what a typical day looks like for people! I am only one week out of gastric bypass and I can hardly even get 20oz of liquid down (don’t even ask about protein) that’s non existent in my life right now! I feel fine everyday I take all of my vitamins and I feel great! So what does your food intake day look like from the time u wake to the time u get ready for bed? If u can add times and amounts please do so! I’m super curious even for some ideas of what I can look forward to eating! Thank you all!!

I'm at 299.8 and still have a long way to go but I'm thrilled to be under 300. I started at 369 (at the beginning of my 6 month program in September) and was at 347 the day I had surgery. Just wanted to share my happiness.

If I drink water too quickly, I start feeling a really warm sensation ... like I need to turn on the air conditioning. I feel really hot. Is this something that should be concerning? Also, I can no longer tolerate the fake sugar in beverages - they're causing me to run to the bathroom. I am just drinking water and the occasional decaf coffee or decaf unsweetened ice tea. Jeez, this whole process continues to be an evolution and learning rolled into one. I'll be 3 months post-op on Tuesday.

Hi the more I read on this site the more excited I get about getting a revision from band to RNY and finally getting this weight off for the first time in my life. I’m 55 years old though. 5 foot 2 in and 240. If I lose 80 pounds or more at this age will I still look fat with all this hanging skin? Maybe I shouldn’t be worried about something so trivial?

I took the breath test for H-Pylori and it came back positive. Is there anybody that had that experience? It is a bacteria in the lining of the stomach that can cause ulcers. I am beyond frustrated since I will have to take that test again in about 6 weeks after taking medicine to get rid of the bacteria, which pushes everything back by over a month. Please share your experience, Thank you

Hey, all. First time post here. I’d like to explain my situation briefly. A year ago, my ex and I broke up. One that I was madly in love with. Since then, I’ve found myself blessed in many areas of life. I’ve got the new shiny dream job, dream vehicle, amazingly better relationships with my family, and 3 weeks ago had gastric bypass. The biggest reason for this progress, I feel, is that I’ve focused solely on myself this past year without worrying about any friends or girlfriends. Literally all I’ve done is work to achieve my goals, and have let go of all past relationships with people that were either slowing me down, or were negative influences. However, since my surger…

Hi All, I haven't had a bowel movement since two days before my surgery. It has been 9 days. I emailed my nurse and asked if I can take Milk of Magnesia, she said yes and if that didn't help to call my surgeon. I took the MOM at about 9:30 pm, it is now almost 2am. I feel so miserable and like I can't even get excited about everything. I'm going to call my surgeon tomorrow if I don't go in the morning. Is this normal? I don't have much bulk, cuz my diet is still liquid which is basically watered down cream of wheat and creamy soups. I start purred food on the 12th. Anyone else go through this? Thank You Everyone!

I'm 7 weeks post-op and can't seem to get to solid food. Still on shakes and sometimes can't get more than one shake down. That's only 25 grams protein. Everytime I try a food (pureed) it hurts my pouch. Is this normal? Sent from my SM-N950F using BariatricPal mobile app

Hi everyone, I just had my gastric bypass done on 5/30/2018 (last Wednesday). I am on stage 2 diet and it's a lot of liquids. I am also vegetarian, so it's hard to get my protein in. I like Genepro and I was wondering if I could add it to No sugar added "light start" instant breakfast. In my handbook from the hospital it says "sugar free" instant breakfast. I'm just so confused if the "no sugar added" and the "sugar free" are the same. It has 60 calories per packet and 7g sugar. I'd mix it with almond milk. Is it okay to drink? Thanks everyone. I'm new to this site, so i hope I'm doing this correctly! ps- Any vegetarians on here? What ways do you get protein in…

I haven't posted or even gotten on the app in a while. I've really been trying to improve myself because I realize my weight is not my only health concern. I was scheduled for bypass surgery for May 2nd but they told me there was issues with my insurance and cancelled my surgery. After that serious disappointment, over 7 weeks I gained 20 pounds. Two other doctors refused me for surgery because my mental health conditions and eating habits make me "a high risk patient." So, I took these occurrences to heart and I am now on a treatment plan for my mental illnesses and I do feel better than before. And I've even lost 25 pounds! I'm now worried that my treatment plan will n…

I’m so excited to share that I’m no longer overweight. This surgery has been the best decision of my life. I have had a few stalls so for those of you in a stall hang in there! I pretty much eat what I want except high sugar foods, rice and bread. I work out 3-5 times a week at Equinox. I do spin, Pilates and boxing. I’m 20 lbs away from my goal weight and fitting into size 8 and medium clothes. One thing I’m trying to do is avoid designers and stores that don’t have plus size clothing. They didn’t want my business when I was a size 18 so they don’t get it now. Good luck to everyone going through this process! HW 227 SW 221 - 11/27/17 GW1 185 - bye bye obes…

I am a 28 year old mother of two girls (ages 4&5). My gastric bypass is scheduled for July 23rd. My husband is able to take some time off when I first come home. I was just wondering if anyone had any ideas of good things to have prepared ahead of time to make it a little easier once I come home? My kids are thankfully old enough that the lifting won’t be a problem, but I will be the one taking care of them after a week or so, so any advice would be much appreciated.

A lot of the post-op trials and tribulations now seem to be in the rear view mirror. The scale is moving again and I am within inches of being under 3 bills. Whuuuut!? I never thought I would see this. Also, I've got 110 pounds left to lose but this number does not seem nearly so high anymore. I get two really close milestones. The first one is being under 3 bills, then the next is no longer qualifying for surgery.

Not really frustrated, I just wanted to post something today. In a couple days I will hit my 9 month post op date. I am very happy where I am but am wondering if I will ever reach my goal of 165lbs. My weight loss is very slow now and not very steady, I was at the 194 lbs mark for almost 4 months before I started losing again (I am now at 184 lbs). I am running 3 1/2 miles twice a week, I haven't had a carbonated beverage in 15 months, I still mostly eat protein and stay away from breads, pasta and potatoes. I am doing 45 sit-ups a day and 20 pushups. I have what I consider a lot of excess skin but no where near as much as most people who have lost 80 lbs. I know I…

I’m starting month 7. After a steady 10lbs a month weight loss, it has slowed to a snail’s pace for the last 2 and now has just completely leveled. Some days I even put 1-4 lbs of weight ON. I want to be under 200lbs by my mid June check up. I’m walking and eating a low carb, lean protein, < 1000 cal a day diet and am getting really really frustrated. *Frustration = if I’m not going to lose weight, then I will just eat what I want! I thought I would keep losing weight for a year and it looks like I only get 6 months... Any advice or words of wisdom?

This diet is hard!! I'm having a really difficult time giving up carbs .... tonight I bought some cauliflower rice and mashed cauliflower to try to replace some of the carbs I would have normally put on my plate and it's getting tough and I'm only a couple weeks in. I tried both substitutes and thought they were gross... I am getting a little sick of salads and I'm desperately trying to stay positive though a few ppl i know are very very good at putting me down and telling me I won't succeed. I really want to be better but I'm not gonna lie this is becoming way harder than I thought it would be!!.... Thanx Sincerely Positively discouraged KT

Hey guys, So I haven't posted in a while, and have been doing okay for the most part, aside from frustration. I had GBS on 4/10/18, since week three post surgery I have been vomiting fairly regularly. At least once every other day. So, I called my surgeons office several times since it has continued. The first time, maybe I wasn't digesting and should go back to liquid diet. Then it was maybe I'm eating too quickly, or not chewing enough. Then, maybe I just can't digest meat yet? I have tried everything, I am not eating a whole lot, nor am I keeping alot down. So, I FINALLY had my 6 week follow up with my surgeon yesterday. I am down 50 pounds!!!! So happy!!!! But no…

Hi all! I’m kinda new here. Been through 7 months of supervised diet and expecting to have surgery in early July. I was wondering if anyone has had an open RNY and would be willing to share their experience. I do have the choice to have a lapo procedure, but I’m not thrilled with the way the lapo doc is handling the pre-surgery stuff (basically no communication and leaving me in the dark about possible surgery dates and everything else). The doc I have been seeing for the supervised diets is an older gentleman who has been doing RNY and Sleeves for almost 30 years and has an impeccable record, and I really like being around him... but he only does open RNY procedure…

Is anyone else scheduled to have RNY in early May 2018? My new surgery date is May 3rd. I was originally scheduled for April 10, but a week before surgery, the anesthesiologist required me to switch to a larger hospital due to my history of Congestive Heart Failure. Now, I've got 14 days to go and can't wait!

I am a little over 23 days post op & have transitioned from a 3 week liquid diet straight to soft foods. I am only allowed 1 once of whatever I eat. And my food is limited to seafood (no shrimp), eggs & soft cheeses. I have eaten tuna, string cheese & half boiled egg (all 1 ounce or less) but I don’t get a sensation of feeling full or no signs of “ok that’s enough”. is this because I am eating so little? Will that sensation come as I am allowed to eat a variety of food, etc.? My NUT didn’t really say anything about feeling full but just to eat an ounce at a time. I see so many people beginning their food and they are unable to finish because t…

So I realize this is probably really wrong headed of me- but I keep thinking about the "Last time" - as in "This is the last time I can indulge". At Christmas I was thinking this will be the last time I eat short bread and pumpkin pie. This will be my last birthday cake. I may as well have wine and cheese and crackers tonight because soon I won't be able to eat this stuff anymore. Has anyone else been struggling with this?

I had surgery this past Tuesday, home the next day. Not too much pain, just a bit by my bigger incision. But its tolerable. So far keeping all liquids down, no puking. I slept ok, but it hurts too bad to lie on my side. So sleeping on my stinks. But that's nothing. I will be back to work next Thursday. So for now, just walking, drinking my protein shakes and alot of water. Hope everyone else is doing well. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G930A using BariatricPal mobile app

So I am 2.5 years post gatric bypass and have kept the weight off but would still like to lose 30 more lbs and have hit the wall. I signed up for weight watchers tracking just for a change of pace. I have a weird quetion for anyone who has tried this. We all know that feeling when something hits you wrong right after you eat it and you throw it right back up. Do you get those points back? I know it seems like a stupid question but I would like to track points properly if I am going to pay for it. TIA

Hello! I had gastric bypass done on 02/01, and as of this morning I have lost 47 lbs so far, does it seem like I am on track with what should be expected from this? I know I am being overly paranoid about this, but I am just a worrier by nature. I do as much as I can to make sure I am successful at losing weight, I stick to the diet they tell me, exercise, take my vitamins, etc. But on days where I weight myself and see the scale has only gone down a tiny bit, well it makes me start to worry!

Hello everyone! My name is Carolina, 25 year old from Brooklyn, NY. I had my gastric by pass on June 23 2017 and loss a total of 129 pounds (HW: 249”bs CW 120lbs). After reaching my goal weight of 120lbs and switching to maintance calories, about a month and half ago, something happen to me— mentally. I can’t stop obsessing over food. Food is the first thing I think about as soon as I wake up, the last thing I think about before falling to sleep, and ALL I think about in between. I am constantly eating without planning and without being hungry. Often, I just eat because the food is available. I lose control of my fitness/health goals and lose sight of my decisison to…

So, I’m sitting in the hospital, one day post-op gastric bypass + gall bladder, and wondering how my experience has compared to others.. I have had a lot of nausea and some kind of acid reflux...lots of burping that is very acidic. I had the surgery Thursday afternoon and had a very rough night last night as I wasn’t able to get comfortable...so no sleeping. Now, today has been so much better. I’ve basically had zero pain throughout...just crazy nausea. I’ve started on clear liquids and the only problem is that I feel uncomfortably full after next to nothing...so now I’m worrying about hydration and how I’m ever going to get in 60 grams of protein a day!! So, I’d love to …

I haven't even scheduled my surgery yet, but I'm freaking out. My last apt is May 29th, then we submit to insurance. I've been on this journey since November but I'm just now freaking out. What if I can never have a fry again? Should I even care? Isn't that my problem? Can I still enjoy life without food? I go to food for such comfort and that's so wrong. I guess I'm worried I won't enjoy what I will be eating. Do any post op patients still enjoy food? Like for holidays, can you still eat just small amounts? Slightly freaking out over here!
