Bruising

Has anyone dealt with pretty bad bruising? I am 3days post op and I’m not sure how normal this is!!! This bruising goes down to my pubic area! Any insight in this? I know they said some bruising is normal!

No fever no signs of infections! I’m mostly worried about internal bleeding! I do bruise really easy but didn’t expect that big of one! The surgeon is calling me back with that I should do! Thank you

So they told me to ice it and the swelling for the most part went away they said to mark where it’s at and if it goes beyond the mark to come right in! As of right now I’m just monitoring it!

That looks nasty. Does your doctor have someone covering phones on the weekend? I'd call.

I called and without them seeing it they just said bruising is normal I did tell them the extent to this bruising but they just kept telling me it’s normal! I’m thinking I’m gonna be heading back in there within the next few hours because it has spread since last night

Sorry, but bruises crotch to to navel is not normal unless you've always been a bruiser. Good luck! Is it particularly tender? Do you have a fever?

You might put ice on it in the meantime. That would help if its just a bad bruise.

yes I have I just had surgery past Tuesday and have horrible Bruising around the areas of my incisions plus on top of that I’m getting tired of the just liquids diet but soon I can move soft foods .

Do your bruises stick out and look swollen? Like puffy around the whole bruise?
@fluffyandiknowit yes mine look like that just like in your picture it go away eventually so how are you doing on your liquid diet after surgery?

My bruising was in two areas and both looked worse than the original posters, but I did have hernia repair at the same time and my surgeon also said he had to pull some fat from my stomach walls, so I would expect bruising.

Do you know what your surgeon meant by “pull some fat from the walls”? If this is too personal, my apologies and please ignore my question.

Ok I feel better to know that this happens! And I’m doing ok not really reaching goal with liquids I’ve lost 7lbs in 2 days! I really need to push more liquid! How are u doing??
It’s because of the blood thinners they give you to prevent clots. Happens to a lot of us! Very normal!

I didn't ask for further information when the surgeon said that he had to "pull some fat from the walls." I just assumed there was extra fat in the way of either doing the hernia repair or possibly scar tissue from previous Gastric Lap Band incision sites that needed to be removed in order to complete the RnY surgery. (FYI, had the band from 2002 to 2009...lost down to 250 from 350, then when it was removed gained up to 396).
