I was banded a month ago and been happy to lose 13 pounds but in last 2 weeks it hasn't moved and now I've gained 4 back I knew this was possibly going to happen but I'm so confused as in not eating much max 1000 calories a day? I spoke to dietician she said dont worry when u get your fills u will lose but why? If I'm not eating much now and not losing why is a fill going to help as I'm still told to keep my calories at that anyway?! Very confused now any advice? Thanks

So I'm currently three almost 4 weeks out (Thursday) from surgery. I've said before that I can eat just about anything, but I'm trying to stick to high protein, low-fat, low sugar/sodium foods. Because of this, I'm starting to get bored with my meals. Any suggestions? Also, is everyone sticking to a cup of food even if you haven't a fill?

Has anyone ever had a stretched pouch, and if so, what did you do about it? Is it necessary to go on liquids and if so, for how many days? Does a liquid diet really un-stretch it back to its original post-op form ?

I have 5.5 cc now and noticed that it takes me 3 hours to eat a meal. I think that's way to slow. I chew until I have nothing and I still can eat any faster. I also noticed I hiccup a lot and I even have to drink while I'm eat which is a big no no. I think my band is too tight:(

I was banded today! Everything went well. Today is the first day of the rest of my life. I am so excited to be a part of this forum. You all have been so great and informative. I cant wait to see the numbers on the scale decline. On another note ....the anatheseologist asked me why I was having the surgery. I told her to lose weight. she said I dont look like I need it. I guess I lucky to carry my obesity well. I am 5ft. 8inches my starting weight was 263 and my bmi was right at 39.8. Well enough of my rambling have a wonderful wednesday my fellow bandsters.

I was banded 9/25/12...down 41 pounds! Recently I have been getting weird pain on the side where my port is. Almost like I can feel something above the port and it annoys me when I bend to tie my shoe. Not sure what it is....I have been feeling fine it's just the nagging soreness. Any thoughts????

I can say something witty here but I will stick to the facts.... I have been banded for almost a year. I have had the ride of my life just learning how to deal with my band Alot of pb's and general stress regarding eating too fast, too much, wrong food etc. I have only lost 30 lbs. Most within the 1st 2 months and I keep losing and gaining the same 10lbs for months now. Im in this stressful place where my head hunger rules and I need some guidance to get out of that cycle - simply clicking my heels is not working to get me where I want to be. I live in Canada, I am a married mom of 2 boys and I'm 41 years old. I paid for my band out of pocket so I really want to …

Hello Every One ! I've been banded for 2 years and 6 months. Just recently, I kindda stretched my pouch a little bit, and now I'm on a liquid diet to make my pouch small. My doctor told me to be on liquids for 7 days to un-stretch my pouch. I'm just trying to go back to the basics... Once I'm back to eating solid protein, should I chew the food to be a bit chunky, semi-soft, or pureed consistency before I swallow? Thank you for your reply !

Hey Everyone! So I am newly banded and have no Fluid yet in my band. The doc said this is the time to just get used to eating and getting to know my band. I am starting to feel like I need more restriction. I feel like I can eat more lately and get hungry a lil more often. Will a fill help me feel less hungry and less often?! Is this when I will really start seeing the weight come off?! THANKS!!

I am 3 1/2 months post op and I had one fill 6 weeks after surgery of 2.8 CC's in a 10 CC band. Then last week I had 2 more CC's and wasn't able to eat much at all or keep things down and burped constantly after eating. Today I went in and had a slight unfill and feel perfect! I hope this is the sweet spot;) I still love my band! I m down 48 pounds and am going to hit 50 pounds this week! I can't wait for the next 50!!!

I was banded 2 years ago. Everyime I get to a certain tightness I get acid reflux really bad at night. This happen before and I had fluid removed. Gradually adding it back. At that certain point again acid reflux. About 6 months ago had to have all fluid remove because had a slight slip. Gradually have been adding fluid back. Went 2 weeks ago and add another .2cc and now acid reflux. Taking Prilosec but at night it is awful. Last night so bad it ran out of my mouth. Think I am going to have to stay at 5 cc in my band and not get any more fills. I hope this makes some sense and is their anyone else who has had this problem. Calling as soon as office opens and g…

Not a big fish fan, but I found some wild pacific cod and picked it up. Trying to figure out how to cook it, I bought some Italian Bread crumbs, dipped the Cod in milk, coated them with bread crumbs, then put the fillets into a hot pan with Olive oil and crushed garlic. Cooked the fish until it was opaque (turning half way through, opened a bottle of Marinara sauce (Spaghetti sauce to the heathens), poured a generous helping of that over the fish, topped it with part skim mozzarella and let it simmer for about 5 minutes covered. Should work with any mild white fish.

My new sweet treat is TCBY frozen greek yougurt with nuts and sf caramel sauce. The problem is they only offer big cups and it is self serve. The fist two times I just added what I thought was a good size. Last time i asked how much it weighed and it was 13 ounces!!!! OMG! So I leanred my lesson to ask the weight before I eat. Then I split it up and take the rest home. So I now get 3 Servings out of what I thought was one. Lesson learned!! Just thought I would share.

Banded on February 13th, but I have questions for when I get to the soft food/solid food phases. If your bite size is the size of your pinky nail, and you take a minute to chew your bites, then in theory you should only be able to eat 20 bites that are about the size of a pea (if you eat in the recommended 20 minutes). This would be less than a 1/4 cup of food..... So my question is, do you really take bites that small? Do you really wait that long in between bites? And what volume of food do you eat per meal? It just seems like there is a discrepancy between what I am told, and how much people are actually eating (based on posts of what people ate for a meal). Any…

I started Atkins about 2 1/2 weeks ago (I've now lost about 12 lbs) and thank God for Atkins bars and sf jello! I haven't cheated once and I'm now in the pocess of adding more carbs into my diet (almonds, avocados, etc). However, I was wondering if any of you Atkins bars fans have a rumbly tummy and gas and diarrhea after eating them? This past week or so, my tummy has been upset, not nauseous or anything, just upset. I've cut down to 1 Atkins bars a day and I still have tummy problems. Is it caused by having no carbs or the bars? Love the bars (they have 1 that tastes just like a Payday -yummo) but can't stand the tummy ache anymore. What do you low carbers enjoy for s…

Hi! So I just had a fill a few days ago and my surgeon has me on 3 days of liquids and 2 days of soft foods before moving on to normal food. I'm in the soft food stage now and am curious what people might consider 'soft'. This is my second fill but when I was in this stage then, I just ate Greek yogurt and soup....I'm getting kind of tired of soup and yogurt and was hoping some of you may have suggestions. I understand that different people may be able to tolerate different foods in this stage but it'd be nice to have some ideas thanks!

I'm so excited I received my approval letter from the insurance company today. I'm now waiting on a follow up call from the patient coordinator to schedule my date. I was thinking this is taking forever, but I had my consult 1/4, my psych eval 1/24, and my approval letter today 2/19. I guess it's moving right along considering. As I sit here watching the TLC channel and this story about the journey of this 600 lb woman. Though I'm moved with so much compassion for her, I couldn't be happier that I'm making this decision now. I hope I will be joining you guys with a March 2013 surgery date!

Hi all! I'm a little over 3 weeks out of surgery and in about a week and a half I go in for a phase change and I'm meeting with the nurse practitioner as well. I have a few questions the first is in order to actually gauge if your in the green zone or before you get a fill do u have to be on solid food? I was filled at surgery to 3ccs and am on soft food right now. Secondly, as far as restriction goes I've lost about 24 pounds since surgery and can tolerate my 1 meal a day of 3 oz of Protein and 2 shakes... My question is I eat but am able to control the amount I eat. While I'm eating I never get to a point where my band tells me I'm done I actually tell it . I kinda act …

Monday 08 Oct 2012 I am getting my first fill in well over a year. The last fill I got was horrible. I was over filled and didn’t know it. I waited three days and turns out I jacked myself up pretty bad. They removed most of my fill and I never went back in to have it readjusted out of part fear and part "hell this is nice, I can eat again". Well, obviously for anyone who has eating issues I have put on 15-20 lbs in the last year. I’m feeling very sluggish and my clothes are not fitting right. I feel like **** in general and I’m looking tubby again too so it’s time to get back on the wagon as it were. I’m nervous and anxious at the same time. I’m picking now (right be…

Hi everyone, let me start by introducing myself. My name is Tamara I'm 27 living in the greater Houston area. I decided on the lap band about 8 months ago when I stepped on the scale and it said 299. Since that day I have been doing all the nessecary pre requirements my insurance requires and after 6 months my surgery day has finally arrived. Everything on here re: support groups is old/out dated. I was banded on 2/25/11 and am looking for a support group near me (Glen Burnie,MD). I had my surgery near DC which is a little far to drive, so if anyone knows where some are in my area please let me know. If there are more bandsters then support groups in my area I am willing to hold meetings at my house. Maybe we could do a pot luck for all stages of the LB, Pre-op to small meals. Wouldn't that be a hoot. lol

Hi Everyone! I just wanted to pass along some information. I started using My Fitness Pal 5 weeks ago. When you complete your dairy for the day it will tell you, "If everyday is like today, in 5 weeks you would weigh___" Everyday I write down what the projected 5 week weight would be and believe me, 5 weeks ago I thought "No Way!" But here, 5 weeks later, MFP is dead on what it projected I would weigh! I lost about 15lbs in that time. If you are a calorie counter, try using MFP. It is awesome!
