I had a fill 2 weeks ago. To start with I was really tight and considered going and having a slight unfill. I toughed it out though on liquid and mushy and I got back to normal. Yesterday, my mom had sugery so I was at the hospital all day. Breakfast and lunch I did fine, no issues. Once I got my mom home and was caring for her and trying to eat, I burped and my dinner came back up like reflux - not like PBing stuck. I didn't eat a cup yet. I didn't eat anymore. This morning I ate breakfast, it went down fine, lunch went down fine, but I have this lump in my throat feeling like I have indigestion or reflux. I do have a horrible sinus drainage. Has anyone els…

Hi everyone, i am getting banded on the 26th and his week I am going to get the things i need for the first 2 weeks post op. I was told on days 3-14 I can have low fat soup and yogurt. I am looking for suggestions for soup. I have no idea what is good to buy since I never bought canned soup. Also I was told the yogurt has to be plain. Any suggestions for what I can add to it to make it taste better? Thanks, Sara

Hi everyone! I am not on food yet, but I'm researching tons of recipes to be prepared and I keep finding tofu recipes and I have some questions for those of you who actually eat it. 1.) What are the benefits of tofu over other Proteins? (chicken, pork, beef, or fish) 2.) What kind of tofu do you buy? (brand, firmness) 3.) What is your favorite recipe? Thanks SO much!

I have been thinking a lot about the lap band, and just found out my insurance covers. I will be going to a seminar on the first of March and was wondering if any of you can give me an insight as to what happens, and the following steps. If my insurance covers, do I still need them to approve the surgery? I rarely go to the doctor, so I don't have a long term primary physician. I had a psychical done last week and this doctor told me I couldn't get it done because I do not have a long term chart with my weight issue. My BMI is over 40, but I am healthy, with no obesity related illnesses, which is why she also said my insurance would not cover the procedure. I'm just so…

Looking for some help. Got a fill approximately 2 weeks ago on 1-17. Last friday i began to get some back pain that radiated to my left ribs, above my port. I do not have my gallbladder. I know there is a possibility of it being cramps or gas because it does come and go but i am also worried something could be wrong with my band. I have been able to eat normal size lap band servings. Could my port be moving due to weight loss? Any other ideas? Thanks ahead of time!

My last filling was in November and its pretty tight. I've been ok until the last 2 weeks where I've had to keep a cup of water on my bed side and sleep at a propped up angle because ill wake up coughing and choking on spit. What could it be? Also, because I paid out of pocket for the surgery, I'm worried if there is a complication that my insurance won't cover anything I might need to get done to fix it. Any suggestions?

I am super new to the band and im starting my soft food diet section of the post op process. When i eat the soft food stuff i never feel full like i used to, i just feel really bloated and uncomfortable. Is this the new "full Felling" with the lap band, or after everything is done healing will that typical full feeling return? thanks guys im super new and really confused.

I am just so happy to feel so supported in this journey. My surgery is on Feb. 18. Today is my birthday and instead of getting yummies like cake and cupcakes from my lovely teacher family, I have gotten flowers and fruit, and even a yummy protien smoothy from my besty. I am a teacher for students with autism. I am constantly moving and chasing kiddos. I have six adorable runners in my class. It takes a toll on my body, because of the weight. I am looking forward to being able to chase them down with ease. Not to mention actually run in the Autism Speaks 5K next fall. So I know I'm luckty to have such support. I know people don't always feel that way and if y…

I drink about a gallon of hot tea and iced tea a day. I always used Splenda. Dr. Oz said to use Truvia because it has stevia leaf instead. I told this to my doctor the other day and he would rather I use nothing. I have tried cutting back and hate the taste. Has anyone been told to use Truvia instead? Another food item. I watch America's test Kitchen and they say when making meatballs to brown them in the oven on a wire rack. I just made some and the pan had about 1/2 cup or more of fat in the bottom of the pan. UGH! That was one pound of 90% ground beef. Thanks for any help with the sweetener.

I wouldnt consider my journey a total failure, but if I had know then what I know now, I probably would not have had the surgey. Okay, let me lay down the ground work of my story. I have been overweight my whole life, numerous failed weight loss attempts, etc, etc, etc. About 2 years ago, I found myself with a job that had excellent benefits and would pay for weight loss surgery. I searched the internet. Considered gastric bypass vs banding. Banding obviously won. I started the Atkins diet May of 2011. Lost weight very rapidly. Loved the diet. Had lap band Sept 2011. Had already lost 65 pounds before surgery. Times were trying and difficult after surgery, but weight loss …

Here is how dumb I am: I went in for my third fill on Monday Feb. 11. I was at 5cc in my 10cc band already, having previously had two fills of 2.5cc each. I would say that I was this close to the Green Zone. The nurse put in 1cc. My first mistake: I didn't feel the squeezing sensation that I had felt with the other fills, so I thought it wouldn't make much difference. My second mistake: I barely sipped the Water I was supposed to drink and was in a hurry to go. My third mistake: Even though I was having trouble with liquids and pureed foods, I wanted to give it a little more time. By the time it was well over 24 hours past my fill and I realized that I was…

Anyone in my area looking for a banded buddy? I have only ever known one other person who was banded, so I'm looking for someone who might want to meet for lunch (ironic yes) to talk sometime. Or if you know of a support group in this area, that'd be great too. My friends have been awesome, but they don't understand some of the struggles. Why Friday I was able to eat and suddenly Saturday and Sunday I couldn't...etc. Hope to hear from someone! Hollee http://holleealexandria.blogspot.com/

So, after losing 114 pounds, I found myself hungry all the time, gaining weight and suffering from the worst heartburn ever. I had gotten complacent in my diet, I will admit that, but I still felt like something else was wrong. Went back and had a barium swallow done. Turns out i am dilated. I have has all of my fluid removed for the next three weeks. I have had my band for two years and decided that now is the time to "restart" my band. I am going to do the presurgery diet until I get fills again, and just start over. Has anyone else done this? Has it worked? I hope this will reset my thinking back to being newly banded and help to lose the pounds I have gained. Plea…

I need to whinge to people who understand my pain! I was banded in nov 12, in early feb my port had flipped so 4 days ago (happy valentines to me) I had more surgery to replace the port. And it's KILLING ME. They have given me morphine based pain relief which sends me totally cray, and I'm a school dentist and back at work today so I can't take that stuff while treating kids (as much as it would probably make my day easier haha) so I'm alternating neurofen and paracetamol+codine. Who has has this done? How long should it take to heal? Does everyone's Hurt this much? ..... I felt really bad having to get the girl at work who is 7 months pregnant to pick up anything I dropp…

Even at 2 months post op I'm pretty sure I don't want any more fills..I've only had one and I have 3 cc's in my band right now. Time and time again I have read about too tight, reflux, getting stuck, not being able to eat foods like fruit and salad and I just don't want to go that route. I know that not everyone at restriction has problems and that some are doing great and I'm truly happy for them. I think for me personally, I can and will continue the way I am. I know some people say it's just a diet without restriction but I'm really okay with that. Next week I have an appointment with my surgeon for a fill and I will "fill" him in on my plan! No offense meant to a…

Hello Everyone, I have really been struggling lately and need some support. I was banded several years ago and was initially successful, but have been doing some backsliding over the past year or two. I am really motivated to get back onto a 1000 calorie diet, but it's so hard to stick with it. My weight is such a daily struggle, and it would be really helpful if someone would be interested in some form of daily communication. It wouldn't need to be time consuming, but just a quick check-in to confirm that I am following my plan for the day, like they do at OA, if anyone is familiar. I would be willing to have my buddy be at any point in his or her journey. I am 26…

I'll be in this group in about 2 weeks. I can't say I'm happy to be here, but from all that I have been reading about long term banding and complications, having it out may be a blessing in disguise. This surgery was a last resort 6 years ago, so I wonder what the future holds. The important thing is that my body heals from any damage that I have done to it, having the band.

So since my lapband last April, I have lost 37 lbs. which I found great. I only needed to lose 50 more. When it was first put on, I struggled and started to lose a lot of hair. My dr put me on Biotin, more vitamin D and had me increase my protein shakes. Well in January, I landed in the hospital with esophagus spams! Thought it was a heart attack! I had to have all my fluid out. Now not only have I gained 7 lbs but my hair is falling out even worse! I'm serious when I tell you that I have nothing left(for me)! I have always had thick hair and now it is paper thin! I can actually see through it!! I'm taking all my vitamins and my shakes! I'm still getting some…

Finally after a few weeks at the same weight, the scale moved... down haha I've been stuck at 325 and finally I'm down to 319! I've stepped up my workouts, doing at least an hour of cardio and an hour of weight training and I go to a class here and there. I've really been watching what I eat and track ever calorie or whatever I put in my mouth. I've also watched my sodium intake. I was drinking a lot of gatorade and sports drinks after my workouts but with all the sodium I think it was making me retain water weight, So now it's back to water and my favorite iced tea packets from walmart as well as hot peppermint tea with truvia. If you guys haven't tried truvia try it, it…

So I've been off of work for about a month now n was banded on January 2nd. I'm embarrassed because before I left lots of peeps New about my surgery. My closer friends kept telling to make sure I come see them (I took 6 weeks off) cause they thought I would drop about 1000000 lbs (lots of weight) before I came back. I told them I would come by but I don't want to cause since I left I only dropped 8 lbs. I go back in two weeks n I want to really loose some more before I go back. I have bumped up my work out schedule to twice a day this week n will do the same next week also. I am also planning to eat 1000 calories a day. My daughter did the math n said "if " I do this ever…

Had no pains with the lower incision, but the top and side one i had mild pain. but the pain im in now is all due to the gas, been taking my meds, walking, drinking more fluids. Oh i also have really bad dry mouth and i know TMI- diarrhea. Trying a heating pad now. Oh never have i wanted to burp/fart so much in my life lol!!!

I am wasting so much food & money even with to go plates. I can get 4 meals from one to go box of grilled fish & veggies! I am tired of it after the 2nd round:)

I had my surgery July 2012 and so far I have lost 25 pounds my doctor has been giving me several small fills mainly .25 cc at a time. I think he could be more aggressive with my fills but he keeps telling he dont want to get me to tight. I feel im doing most of the work on my own with only 3.5cc on my band out of a 10cc band I'm always fighting hunger. I excersice 5 times a week and I just wish I could lose weight a little faster most people can't even tell I lost any weight.... Im tired of being fat and hungry. Has anyone out there experience slow weight lost and finally lost the weight?? How long can this take??

My daughter had her band removed one week ago due to erosion. The band had eroded into her stomach and she was experiencing severe nausea and vomiting, which lasted a while until they figured out what was going on. They kep saying the band hadn't slipped and so everything was fine. We expected life to be a lot better after removal, however one week post op she is still very gassy and nauseated. Eating very little, taking nausea meds and gas-x. She's miserable and don't know what to do to help her. Check up with doctor after surgery.... stiches healing nicely and no infection, and said some people are more sensitive to laparascopic surgery. Anyone else had this p…

I sit here struggling with the notion to write this or not...but something someone said to me yesterday is very disturbing. I think her words were "A Slipped Band is not a BIG Deal, quit your whining it can be fixed." I followed all the rules the Doctor gave me and for 18 months have had phenominal success with my band. I eat right and I excercise and within this time have lost 129 lbs...putting me 5 lbs under my original goal. Two weeks ago I came down extremely ill with the FLU and my world changed. I've never been so sick in all my life and the vomitting was non-stop. It landed me in the ER for two days, my LAP-BAND® slipped, they unfilled it...hoping it would fal…

Hi! I have a question about the product phen375. Has anyone ever tried it? Does it actually help? I'm in a slump with my weight loss and looking for things to help kick start my weightloss again. I've had my lap-band since April 2012 and lost about 85lbs. I have been at this same weight for about 2 months now with out change. I'm exercising with the P90x but still in a slump. Please provide me with some honest feedback about its actual success/fail rate. Please do not post hateful comments as I am honest looking for real feedback and not just don't take it. But rather a "heres why..." after. I have taken Phentermine once before in the past prescribed by doctors and i…
