Has anyone been told that their stomach has flipped, prior to banding. They found out mine has flipped when they did the upper GI & so I had to do a barium swallow as well. My GI Dr said that the surgeon would have to put it back in place prior to banding me. I am at higher risk of having a regular incision.

Hi all, I was banded about 19 months ago and have pretty much failed the band. I was out of work for a good part of this time, and being a cash-paying patient, couldn't get many fills. However, about a year ago I went in and they really filled me up full. Good news....I started losing weight. Bad news: I was throwing everything up. So I went in for an unfill and haven't been back since. Now I am at the weight I started at plus 5 lbs. I have a fill appointment next week. I decided yesterday to make some changes and really make an effort to make this work. I'm quitting drinking...I was taking in a ton of empty beer calories. I'm also starting to work out again...was onl…

Hallelujah! I had my second fill on Tuesday and I think I'm finally feeling restriction! Could it be I've hit the green zone? I hope so. Last night after I finished my dinner I remarked to my husband how I felt weird because I wanted to eat more (I make a mean cauliflower mash) but I couldn't. I really try not to drink with my meals but when I take my vitamins and pills I have to drink something afterwards. I then sat down to eat my yogurt with fruit and barely got a few bites in when I just couldn't eat anymore. I'm stuffed! I'm keeping my fingers crossed that this continues and now I know I will really have to stick to not drinking right before, during or after …

  10. I had an episode of light headedness and nausea after trying to help my husband. He cut his tongue and it was bleeding pretty badly. After I got myself collected from the light headedness, I still feel nauseous and now my band is feeling tight. I did not vomit. I've never had this issue with the sight of blood in the past either. Should I be worried?

This 200+ sub forum really needs to be more active. i thought it would be nice to just have a general thread that didn't really have a topic per se, but just a place where you can come and post whatever about whatever. Here is my random general first post: I'm down about 35 pounds and I just really feel awesome. I mean, I obviously still look the same as nobody has seemed to notice the weight loss, but I notice and I can tell in my clothes and in my general energy level over all. I have lots and lots of energy lately and it's something that I haven't had for YEARS really. i haven't felt like doing anything at all, but now all of a sudden, things are a little e…

I am a very happy person right now! I am scheduled for my sleep apnea test on the 13th of March, and my insurance is requiring 1 month of nutrition classes, which will be over the phone. I have a 500 hundred deductible which I will have to pay, but I'm totally fine with that. I am so excited! I went in thinking (because of what I've read here about insurances requesting months of nutrition classes) I was going to have to take them for months. I will keep everyone posted!!

I had my second fill on Jan 30th (so about 3+ weeks ago. ). All was fine until a few days ago when I had my first bad stuck episode. Can it take a few weeks to tell whether the fill was too much? Or did I likely do damage and not take things slowly enough after the stuck episode? Today I ate a ham sandwich with no issues. Tonight, I took my bedtime pill and laid down. Within 30 minutes, here came the mucous then coughing, gas and finally retching over the toilet with no PB or vomit. What's the deal???

I need advice about what I'm feeling. Tonight I ate a little hamburger, and got this terrible pain after I ate. It was even hard to breathe all the way in and stand up straight. It was the first pain I've had with my band, and I've never vomited. Tonight just a little but came back up. (Sorry to be graphic...) Did my food get stuck or is it something more serious I need to go to the hospital for? This is new for me and I'm scared. I'm guessing liquids for a couple days is a good idea... Please help!

I can still gulp down water( I know this because I awoke thirsty in the night and guzzled water before I remembered my band!) I am also experiencing pain in the port incision( which my nurses said is larger than normal,) I also have bruising around the incision. I tried to go to work yesterday but it was too uncomfortable. I'm on liquids for three weeks and the store bought broth is disgusting to me. Has anyone made their own? I tried it and it was delicious but it sent me right to the bathroom. 28. I have had my band for 1 1/2 years and I've lost hardly any weight. What I have lost is coming back on rapidly. I definately have reduced the amount I eat at meals but 30 mins later I'm hungry and start looking for a satisfying sugar fix. I understand the nutrition component and its importance, but it's not lack of understanding. I know what to eat, I just can't seem to do it. The exercise component was going great until a few weeks ago i found out i have compartment syndrome. This should be fixed soon so im not worried but the inability to control sugar urges is really bothering me. Anyone else have this problem?

I just got my 4th fill last week. Until then, I had good restriction, had to eat slowly and couldn't drink while I ate at all. I could feel the food going down. After my last fill I followed the rules of 2 days liquids, 2 days mushies and now on solids. The problem is now everything goes down too easy. I can feel it sliding down. I feel like I have no restriction at all! Has this happened to anybody else? By the way I have 5cc in a 10 band and I already called doctor and have another fill appt on the 14th. Thanks!

So, I've been away from this site for about 3 weeks or so. I went through a couple of stressful events that have sent me back to my old eating habits and I'm so frustrated with myself. I have been great at losing the weight and was meticulous about everything for 3 months straight. Then, as some of you know, a fire destroyed my bakery business and I've been dealing with the emotions and stress of that. Days sitting at home, on the computer and the phone trying to deal with insurance, customers that I had to cancel etc. It's been a mess. In this mess, we also had to find a new home, as ours had sold. Along with both of my kids getting sick and seeing Dr.s constantl…

  38. Thought some of you may be in my shoes. My last fill in January (7.6 oz total) has finally given me real restriction for the first time. Yes, I PB - especially if I eat too quickly or don't chew enough, and I am finally getting comfortable knowing when I need to just stop eating. However, I'm probably PB'ing too much and think that I should get some fill removed. Only... I don't want to. I've broken my plateau and really don't feel hungry. I've lost about 8 lbs in the 4-5 weeks since the fill (I'm a shortie and now more than halfway to my goal). It's easier to completely walk away from my fav carbs (bread or pasta) and focus on my Protein and veg. Has this happened to y…

Ashamed I let myself get up to 388 pounds at one point. Ashamed I didn't want to do things in public or have my picture taken. Ashamed I wasted 15 years of my life before I decided to do something about it. And I am not only ashamed but I am angry at myself for missed opportunities. I let life pass me by year after year and those missed chances are gone forever. Does anyone else feel this way? Is it normal?

  41. So the WLC just called and said my insurance denied the whole procedure until I go thought the WHOLE pre-op procedures that I had in 2005, including nutrition, psych, etc. I had a required sleep apnea test done which qualified me this time around since I was just under a BMI of 40. I thought that was all I needed. And now this. I have the surgery already scheduled for Sept. 24 with a one night stay to remove the crappy Lap Band and have the Gastric Sleeve done. I am pissed. I am waiting to hear from the insurance coordinator from the WLC. I asked can I get the band out and later get the sleeve after all ducks are in friggin' row and have it all covered?
