Hi all, I'm getting banded on march 13 and am getting excited. I am on day 5 of pre op diet, 3 shakes and green veg. On Friday I had an episode similar to a diabetic low... I started shaking and felt very dizzy. Has anyone else experienced this? Any suggestions?

Not sure if I'm in the right section but I am worried that my band has slipped. I'm 3 weeks away from my year anniversary (yay) but I'm having bad reflux especially when I lay down and before and after sleep. It seems to be a coin toss when it comes to keeping something down or causing me pain and a second visit from whatever I ate. My stomach feel mildly aches and burning all day but here's the thing... I had a chest and stomach x ray one month ago when the symptoms appeared and it showed nadda. I've tried talking to my doctor but despite telling him I'm eating normally and no junk food or over eating he tells me I must be doing something wrong. Can anyone tell me what's…

To my fellow November Nymphs, I have to say I am very upset to find out that I have a leak in my band. For those who don't remember, I was originally banded in 2007 only to find out 8 months later that my band had not been put in correctly which they rectified at no cost to me. For months I questioned why I could eat so much with with 9 cc in my band until they decided to check it out for me. They had wrapped the band around the fat tissue, not my stomach. I looked into taking legal action but decided aganst it. I lost 21 kilos, 12 kilos through my own efforts in the first 8 months. I went for a fill last year because I didn't have much restriction expecting the ex…

I see a lot of comments about being too tight so I thought I would share my story. I had a fill on Wednesday. I told my Dr. that I was getting frustrated with how slowly the weight is coming off. I think he assumed that meant I wanted to be a lot tighter. Well, I left the clinic feeling fine. I was miserable later. I kept telling myself that it was just tight for the first day or so and that it would be better. But Thursday, after only being able to sip a couple sips of Water total I asked my Doctor how long before I was back to normal.... I knew something was up, I was having the gurgling noises after just swallowing my own spit. Listen to what your body is tel…

When I first got my band and for almost 2 years after that, the feeling of "being full" was in my upper chest, just below my throat. I didn't like to feel it there, but assumed that is where it would be forever since getting banded. But, several months ago, I started feeling full below my chest, right at my diaphragm. Has this happened to others? Where do you feel the fullness? Most of my fills have been done under fluoroscopy and the doctor said it is still in position. So if my band didn't move, why did the feeling change? It just concerns me.

I should have gone in january again for my filling but didnt so it kind of stopped working and last couple of weeks maybe I have been so hungry. Like alot worse than before the surgery. Now im constantly hungry day in and day out. My stomach is constantly growling kind of painfully and im painfully hungry even if i take a large eating session from hunger. Like normally before the surgery I had two sandwiches maybe and that lasted me quite some time but now two sandwiches are not enough. Not even little bit. Im still really hungry and constant stomach growling. Is this normal?? I have my second filling tomorrow morning and im so worried that something is wrong. I probab…

last month i followed up w/my lap band surgeon after 7 years (long story) point is I finally followed up. i have been successfull in that i have kept off almost 50% of my excess body weight ( 55 lbs ) and kept it off - inspite of having two more kiddos. i still have to "spit" someitmes when i eat so my doc recommended not giving me a fill, and to follow the rules a bit more strictly, and come back in a month for a re-eval of my progress. i don't have to spit nearly as much - but i still have to sometimes. i eat slow, take small bites, and usually don't drink w/ my meals. however .... it takes me FOREVER... to finish a meal. i think my band has been tooo tight this whole …

Well today I got 1.2 cc in my 14cc band for a total of 8.2cc..I feel a little difference but not much...we will see once I go back to solids...lost 5 pounds...it's bc I've decided I can't just rely on this band alone..so I've been walking 2-4 miles a days 6 days a week, and some days I include zumba am my total gym machine..not to mention am really counting calories and increased my water intake..so in one week I've lost 5 pounds..so that's my motivation...

Gm bandsters, I woke up this morning and decided to weigh myself but low and behold no lbs lost. Eveytime I look in the mirror I see a difference in my shape. Looks smaller to me but why aren't those lbs dropping? Does this happen to anyone? Surgery date Feb 21, 13 lost 15 lbs then back up 4lbs. What's going on?.

I had my first fill yesterday 1.5cc. Pretty agressive and I'm happy with that. The scale had not moved in a couple of weeks, however, my clothing size went down, so that is awesome. But, today, the scale moved. I'm so happy. Is this because the nerve that signals my brain that I have eaten and am full is being suppressed significantly more and my body is willing to let the weight go? I hope this makes sense. Thanks for you expert opinions.

My fist fill is scheduled for tomorrow. And I'm worried that I'm not healed enough. My stomach is still swollen and my incisions are not completely healed. I'm hungry but not starving and I still get full with about 1/2 C of food. I know some surgeons wait 6 weeks but mine fills at 3 weeks. I guess I'm worried that he will go ahead and fill and I'll struggle.

Just wondering if any of you feel the food passing through your band and any pain associated with it. I try to watch my bites and chew. I don't vomit and only got something stuck once. No heartburn either. My signal that I need to stop is a hiccup. I was sort of confused as to whether food should just be passing through right away and any pain associated with it meaning its too tight? I plan on asking my doctor as well but was just wondering if anyone had experienced this...thx

So I went in today for my second fill and like the first time it was nothing, didn't even feel it. He wanted to put in 1.3cc's but it was too tight I couldn't pass water so I wended up with a 1.1cc fill today bringing me to a total of 6.1cc's in my 10cc band. Hopefully this will kick start my weight loss again. So for today and tomorrow I'm on protein shakes only then should be good to eat by friday. I'm not really feeling hungry like I thought I would, which is good!

Hi everyone. I was banded in June 2012. Just wondering if anyone has had this happen to them. I haven't had a fill since dec and everything was going great until about 3 weeks ago. Food won't go down no matter how small or how much I chew. I've been to the doc and was rushed to the er last night. By the time I got to the er I was done getting sick and basically they hooked me up to ivs and I'm going back on Monday. At the er they did an X-ray and said everything looked fine with the band (I went to the hospital where I had surgery). I was just wondering if this has happened to anyone else.

Idk what to do. I have been at a stand still for about a year. Have had two fills in that year. Banded since July 2009. Still want to lose 30 more an I can't seem to. I hardly eat!! Most of the time breakfast doesn't down go too easy so I do tend to wait till late morning to eat. Am I not eating enough?? I am so desperate to start losing again. I have started working out an walking again. So can eating too little be the problem?? I never would have thought it would be. And I guess my Fluid intake isn't a lot either. Please please tell me what I can do. I do not think I need a fill or an unfill...some words of wisdom. What got you to losing again after a plateau!?!?…

I was banded 9/5/07 and just wanted to know if anyone weight is going down slow? For the last 2 months I haven't lose a pound. I have to admit that I get fustrated and go ahead and it the fried crab cakes just because I haven't lost any weight(Which is the same attitude that got me obese in the first place).I don't eat very much but just don't seem to be losing much. And onw day I'm 181 and the very next day I'm 184. I am always hungry but really can't eat much so unsure if I need a fill. I try to eat fish ,tuna, crabs(boiled), shrimp or crawfish and beans black, red and white mostly. So don't know why the weight is not moving.I walk 5 days a week most of the time, but kn…

So I've had this horrible cough for about 1 week now, (I'm in my PCP's waiting room as I'm writing this) Anyways, I've been feeling discomfort in my band area...almost like a mild stuck feeling but I am able to eat and drink. Just some mild pain when swallowing my food and just general discomfort throughout the day. Does anyone think this could be caused by my constant coughing? I'm wondering if I irritated my stomach/pouch with all of these coughing fits. I have never gone to a doctor for a mild cold but enough is enough!! I hope whatever she prescribed for me will help my band as well!!! Has anyone had this happen?

my kids were sick and then I got it and did throw up a few times. Well, got a very bad center of the chest pain that went to my back for several days. my PCP thought it was my cold but as I got well the reflex got worst. Went to my surgeon yesterday and when I throught up part a small part of my stomach came threw the band and hung there, that's what is called slippage so he had to remove all the fluid I cried all the way home. I will go back in two weeks to see how its doing and maybe just maybe he can refill if not it will be another week. I am so scared I will gain. I will track everything nothing in the house to cheat on and I will talk to myself every minute. Lots of…

Had a bad stuck episode/pb-ing on Saturday, followed by bad reflux at night, and every night since. I also have had trouble keeping down any solid or mushy foods. liquids go down, but I definitely feel resistance. Worried, I went to my doctors office today and the PA did an unfill, taking out 2 of my 5ccs. The last time I had a fill was in May, so I know I wasn't suddenly overfilled. She suggested that I irritated my pouch/esophagus and that the unfill, followed by two days of liquids only, then soft foods, and finally solids on Sunday. I am also getting an Upper GI swallow test done and coming back in 3 weeks. What's bothering me now is that although I'm feeling imme…

Hi all. So I just had a quick question. Has anyone ever felt discomfort with their band? Long story short, I had a fill a week and a half ago. After fill I couldn't get any solids down. Had a few vomiting spells. I called the doctor. We decided that instead of an unfill I would restart the cycle. Two days liquids. Two days soft mushy. And than try solids again, but this time really focusing on bite size. I never had an issue before this with bite size, but thought they maybe finally got my band to the point it was really working. Now all of a sudden I have a feeling ot tightness around the band. And some slight discomfort. It felt as if I were sucking my stomach in even t…

Hello. I had my surgery in may 2011 and was doing very well - losing slowly, but surely! Then, in August 2012 I had a slip and haven't been able to lose since... I only gained 10 lbs from the original 43 I had lost. But I need help - and know that I can start losing again. I just got back to 4cc fill, which tends to be my limit. Can anyone help me? Much obliged!

Hi everyone, I was banded on Feb 26th. I started soft foods yesterday. Vegetables never tasted so good! Anyway, I don't feel full, I don't have a problem with drinking too fast and I'm wondering why? I've also only lost 10 pounds. I haven't seen my doc for my follow up yet, but is it too soon for a fill?

Hello everyone. I am a bit frustrated and need some encouragement. My lapband surgery date was 2-18. I lost a total of 18 pounds during the pre-op and first 2 weeks post op. That feels really good. But... My concern is that I stepped on the scale last night and I am up 5 pounds. How can that be? I've still been watching my food intake very closely. In fact, I am just now moving to the soft foods phase. Yay! But how can I have gained 5 pounds on such a low amouint of food? I guess I just need some words of wisdom from you experienced folk. I am frustrated. It will be a few weeks before I can do much for exercise, even walking is limited. I know my activity …

I am having severe upper back pain after I eat, and have finally figured out it comes monthly. I had a hysterectomy years ago, but was still having pain in my back when it was that time. But since my lap band surgery about 20 months ago the pain has been getting worse. I also throw up most of what i eat during this time. just wont go down. It is only when I eat. I have had a scope & an ultra sound. Nothing shows up. Has anyone else experienced this? Any solutions? Suggestions?

I was wondering if anyone has found a relatively good tasting, high Protein shake? I'm not looking for any fancy flavors, vanilla and chocolate are just fine. I've tried the Premier Protein (30g of protein) chocolate flavor that I got from costco, but they had a very strange texture to them. Also I recently got some vanilla Muscle Milk Light (20g of protein) but someone just told me that they have heavy metals in them, like cadmium and arsenic?!? I have to research this more, cause that's totally unacceptable. Just wondering what you may have tried that works for you guys. Any input is much appreciated!

I'm so excited for my second fill, I've not had any type of restriction in a few weeks and I can't wait to get back on track and start losing weight again. I've been stuck for a few weeks at the same weight and it's been really hard to stay focused when I eat right and track everything and workout everyday for hours. I see my body changing but the scale is not moving. I sure hope this fill will help and get me closer to my green zone
