Getting stuck question

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone. I was banded in June 2012. Just wondering if anyone has had this happen to them. I haven't had a fill since dec and everything was going great until about 3 weeks ago. food won't go down no matter how small or how much I chew. I've been to the doc and was rushed to the er last night. By the time I got to the er I was done getting sick and basically they hooked me up to ivs and I'm going back on Monday. At the er they did an X-ray and said everything looked fine with the band (I went to the hospital where I had surgery). I was just wondering if this has happened to anyone else.

Can you eat Soup of any kind? Slider foods?

If not, you could be too tight?

I can eat Soup and drink. They called the surgeon and he did not request the barium swallow, just an x-ray but I think that might be coming tomorrow when I go see the surgeon.

Sounds like you are not taking small bites chewing enough and slowing down? If you follow the rules your masticated foods will resemble mushy soup!

Kallets.. Not to be negative but that's how my problems started. I would randomly get sick and I have NO Fluid in my band. I have been to the ER numerous times because nothing would stay down and they always said I was okay. I am getting my band removed Friday cause its moving down my stomach. So make sure you see your lap band doctor to check...

Trust me, I'm chewing my food. I haven't had an issue until the last couple of weeks. I see the surgeon tomorrow. Good luck on Friday. I will send good thoughts your way.

I have had this happen. I wasn't even able to swallow Water. It came on very suddenly. I did have a gi work up and it was inflammation of the lining of my stomach, which my surgeon told me can happen from time to time. There was nothing to do for it and it resolved on it's own after about a week. It happened when I was about 19 mos after surgery. I am now 3+ yrs and I have not experienced it since.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?
