It's 4:30 am, having my morning coffee before heading out to the gym, and I realized the coffee is going down way too easy.....no feedback or gurgling which I always get first thing in the morning.... Then I think about this past weekend..... It's been go..go..go...since Friday....more Beer than I usually drink, and a lot of snacking, plus we went out for a nice dinner twice...... I have not gained any weight, that does not happen anymore nor do I worry about that ever happening..... other than the same 5 lbs up and down that is normal for well over a year now.....as a matter of fact I am at the low point of hose 5 lbs this morning.....I'm used to that and it is norm…

Hello, I've been banded since 2010. I've been steadily gaining weight over the past year, have no restriction even with several fills in the past few months and I have been experiencing a lot of reflux and incessant hiccups. I had an Upper GI Series last week and an Upper Endoscopy yesterday and my band has slipped up to the base of my esophagus in the cardia region. I've only heard of the band slipping down with the stomach sliding up over the band. Has anyone ever had their band slip up?

So catchy huh?! No but serious! I live in Dallas and I've been dating but it's hard to sit and have a meal because I'm banded. So If i would date maybe a fellow bandster It would be a little bit less of a painful process. So serious, lets date. Anyone can post on here if they want to date each other too. No pressure. Lets be friends- friends! Bold maybe? BUT ready for sure!

Ok thought I was dying on Thursday, thought I could go back to work, big mistake, I was miserable all day. Had severe gas in my shoulders and chest!!! Pain has gotten better but still having shoulder pain ever once in a while. I had planned on going to the gym the day after surgery ya that didn't happen. Not to sound gross but I've only been to the bathroom twice since surgery, I'm following the diet. I'm peeing often but that's it. Pre liquid diet I was 213 now 4 days after surgery I'm down to 201. Thinking that's a good start. I'm struggling to find soft liquids that have fiber, I can't have oatmeal yet and not alot of cream soups have fiber. Hoping to find a lap band …

Pre-op I thought I must really enjoy food to eat so much lol.... Actually until I was banded and started eating healthy did I truly know what food tastes like. Im not trying to say that cheesy tex-mex or fried food tasted bad. Im saying eating healthy food and really TASTING it. Maybe its that Im actually paying attention to what is actually going on instead of mindlessly eating from boredom, comfort or whatevers. I have become the quite the cook! I look up recipes usually go to pinterest healthy section and see stuff I like by the pics then ingredients and try it. Made some quinoa lime salad, seasoned baked chickpeas, avocado-chicken salad, Califlower crust pizza. Alot of…

http://www.academia.edu/497061/The_Concept_of_a_Body_Fat_SetPoint Interesting article, and very pertinent in my life right now. 250 has already been a major (i.e. unreachable) goal in my weight loss journey, and it was the nail in the coffin of my 2005 WW success, I reached it and then immediately started gaining again. This time, I reached it and plateaued, after a couple of weeks started moving again and reached 246 (I felt I had successfully beat 250), then over the space of a couple of days, back up to 251, now slowly moving back down again. There is major difference in my life between the 2005 WW weight loss and my current one, it is the band. I think I am in the…

I had a 3rd fill Thursday. I followed the rules and was fine Friday and Saturday. I had a small stuck episode Saturday (yesterday) at lunch but after time it passed and I was even able to eat a few bites of dinner in the evening. This morning I tried eating a deviled egg (which I had one last night) but the eggs were really cold this morning and I didn't chew very well because I have sensitive teeth. Instantly I was stuck. I was so bad I ended up having to vomit. Afterwards I was still pretty miserable so I didn't try any drinks even. But now its been about 5-6 hours and I just tried drinking some milk and I am feeling stuck like it won't go down. I took a small…

Hello All, I had my surgery 8-4-11. After the surgery I did great. I was eating good, I got into a bootcamp class and exercised 4 times a week. I had a goal to be in a size 10 by our vacation 6-2012. I did not hit tha tgoal. I was a size 12. I started at 215 and got down to 170. And then I hit a wall. I plateaued. I worked really hard and could not loose another pound. I think that is what started my backward spin. Since then, I cant get myself to exercise on a regular basis. I am not eating right. And I frankly have lost the "want to". About 3 mts ago, I decided that I needed to get a new DR. I refuse to go back to the dr that did my surgery. He is a…

Hi All - Since so many of us are on the pre-op step (or soon will be) I thought it might be nice to share what shakes you've tried, what has been tasty and which brands are just blech! I've been doing pre-op since Jan. because I thought my surgery was going to happen a lot sooner than March. My two favorites are 1. Premier Protein shakes (comes in vanilla or chocolate, I get it at costco so it's affordable) 2. Pure Protein in the can (it's a little more expensive, I get it at Trader Joe's) I also make my own in the blender with protein mix and usually a scoop of flavored non-fat Greek yogurt to help cut the chalky taste. Any others that you guys have tried??

i recently 'started over' after being banded for 7 years (didn't follow up for various reasons.... whole different story) nevertheless, i'm back on track and have managed to keep off over 50 lbs. i am seeing my doc on a monthly basis and recently had a small unfill on march 20th. i have a 10cc band and was filled to 2.2cc - and felt like that was a little too tight (i was pb'ing/sliming alot) and my doc recomended a slight unfill. so i had it done. well, now - i fill like i can eat too much. since being 'recommitted' i'm really paying attention to how much i eat, how much i can eat, and how soon i'm hungry. well, i think i'm getting hungry too soon. i'm going to call my d…

I Find It Really Disturbing when People Say That They Have had the Lap Band Surgery and They Find that It Is Not Working!! Think of It as This Way!! I Know People Who Have Not Had Surgery at all and Find it Successful to try what ever they do their way!! I Don't Think It Is Because the Lap Band or Lap Band Plication is Not Working for You!! You Must Remember That with All Diets The Word Die is in it for a Reason! Which Means You Have to Die to Certain Ways and Behavior! You Must Be Willing to Give Something up in Order for It To Work!! I had the Lap Band Plication last June and Lost a Total of 70 Pounds so Far! It was Not That I didn't want it to work but some old t…

I stumbled upon this excellent article discussing NJ Governor Chris Christie's weight struggle. As a NJ resident, it is a frequent topic when discussing him. I think this Dr. makes an excellent comparison of morbid obesity to heart disease when discussing societal discrimination. Interested to hear others opinions. THE MORBID OBESITY EPIDEMIC AND GOVERNOR CHRISTIE by Mitchell Roslin, MD, FACS As a physician that specializes in the treatment of morbid and severe obesity, the recent exchange between Governor Chris Christie and Dr. Connie Mariano, made me contemplate many of the misunderstood and misappropriated issues and perceptions that surround obesity in our soc…

I haven't had a fill since before October but starting last week Ive been having a lot of trouble keeping food down. I vomit everytime I eat. I have been eating some of the wrong foods so I thought that was the problem but i couldnt keep down even yogurt. I thought the band loosened over time so I dont understand why Im just now having trouble. Does vomiting actually make the band tighten? If I go back to protien shakes for a while would that help? Thank you for any advice

I got the lap band in April of 2011 and was able to lose over 60lbs. Since I got married in August I started to slip with eating habits when I enjoyed myself on my honeymoon. I then started a very stressful internship in the fall with a hospice agency. I have very little time between school, work, internship, and my marriage and find that I stopped planing meals, stopped exercising, and started stress eating. Since my honeymoon I put about 20lbs back on. I am so ashamed of this but I want to put a stop to it before things get even more out of control. I am worried that I have stretched my band and my pouch. Is it possible for your band to stretch if you over eat for a whi…

I had a .5cc fill on January 24th. Was good for about a month, not hungry for about 4 hours between meals. Now for the past month I feel like all I do is watch the clock to c when it's meal time. I'm still watching my calories and protein, and workout 4-5 days a week. But I feel like the weight I lost this month is purely because of that, because I am sooooo hungry. Have a Dr appt on Monday thank God. Has this happened to u?

First jof all this not a support group. I started this because I like to look for recipes and I like to share. Whether you look every day or just when you need to find something. I have people ask for specific recipes and I am glad to look for them. Yesterday it was tuna recipes with no mayo. Another time someone was looking for pumpkin Protein drinks. I encourage anyone who wants to share recipes, ideas or suggestions . I am not nor do I claim to be a nutritionist. the group is on face book and is supposed to be private but I encourage people who don't want other in their lives to know to just start a fb page just for your band. All you need is a different email address.…

I am currently on "thin purees",(cottage cheese, soft tofu, eggs, soft moist fish,beans... Added to broth and blended to a thin purée. Also oatmeal, cream of wheat and grits, also thinned to purée. After this,I will advance to " thick purees"...I can sort of figure out what this means, but I'd like to hear from anyone with experience as to what foods they added or how they prepared them. Thank you!

So I'm not looking for suggestions for what you put in a smoothie, but the actual process. Mine never seem to be thick. I have a decent blender and also a hand blender. How much ice? Any other liquids? Do you dissolve the Protein powder in liquid or just dump it into the mixture? Thanks!

I got my first fill today! It wasn't painful at all and I received 3.4cc's in my 10cc band. The doc was able to get to my port easily and the fill went in perfectly. The potential problem arouse when he tried to take the saline out to test the tubing and the Fluid had trouble coming out. He put me under fluoroscopy to make sure things were where they were supposed to be and everything looked fine except for a portion of the tubing that took an abrupt hook to the left (possibly kinked). I tried not to panic. He assured me that alot of times these things rectify themselves and wants to see me back in a month. The good news. I lost weight and got a fill!! On liqu…

Surgery date is May 8th. As I began this journey I was very skeptical about doing it. I was worried that I would miss my food too much. I was scared to think of life without my binges. I was scared that I may do something that I may regret. Most of all...I was scared it would end up like every other diet I've tried. FAILING! So, I began to research. I found this forum and it has been a life saver. All of you on here are so helpful and encouraging. I know that with all of you in my corner I can do this. I have come see that although I won't eat the way I used to, its for the better. I will be healthier, happier and free from the food control. I bought Dr. Hub…

So, last night I went to my first lapband support group (after 3 1/2 yrs). Thought it might be good for me. There were 3 of us. Just the nitht before, the sleeve support group met (same program director for both meetings) was standing room only. What's going on with all the banders? The program director (not my surgeons office, its 3 hrs away) said they hardly ever do band surgery anymore. People complain about complications and maintenance. Im so afraid we're gunna be dinasours, only referenced in medical journals as bariatric failures. Has anyone else noticed this? And amongst the 3 of us, I was the most successful. One lady has been banded for 4 yrs and has only lo…

Once again, apparently it's ok to discriminate against the obese. I will personally never use CVS again and will be writing them a letter to let them know exactly why. (including a listing of the MANY drugs I get filled there monthly and have for a decade and a breakdown of thousands of dollars they'll be losing from my business) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- FORT WORTH (CBS 11 NEWS) - CVS is telling its employees they must get health screenings for preventative care or pay more for the company’s health coverage. Its a controversial plan with an easily understood motive. “They are trying to identify these patients…
