I need help. I'm 8 months banded. This has been a slow process and I'm learning a lot. I feel like over the last couple of weeks I'm really starting to make some progress. I have been staying between 900 and 1000 calories a day and I'm burning at least 250 to 300 calories exercising. I get at least 70 to 80 grams of protein. I have lost weight doing this but I want to continue losing. Am I in the right range of calories?

Hi, I'm just starting this process so bear with me but I'm wondering what made you decide to go with the lapband instead of sleeve or bypass...I've come wo the realization that I just can't loose my weight without some help but I'm unsure, nervous & plain old scared! Can anyone share their pros / cons?? Thanks!

I have lost 75 lbs. I have pics posted online of my progress. I'm proud and have found that ppl I don't even know are inspired by my weightloss. So I keep posting about my journey. Here's the crazy part. I have a select number of "friends" who will comment on photos and text me nutritional advice. I know in my heart they are just trying to help. But HELLO?!? I LOST 75 LBS! I think I know how to lose weight. And guess what eliminating egg yolks (one recent tip given) ain't it! I just think it is rude to give advice that wasn't requested. And it is a little condescending to my work thus far. Does this annoy anyone else? Or does it just happen to me?

24 hrs after surgery and I am sooo hungry I could cry! I had to make dinner for my family which included angle hair pasta and sauce for the kids and a tuna fish sandwich for the hubby. It absolutey killed me to drink 4 oz of chicken broth for my meal. My stomach is growling all the time. I have to go through this for 2 weeks? I need some extra support with this one that is for sure! So sad....and hungry!!!! How do you get past this stage and keep the cravings at bay?

Oh my word! I thought I was feeling some restriction up until now, but I could eat faster than I should and I wasn't having to take tiny bites to get things down. I got a third fill on Tuesday, did fluids for 48 hours, then mushies for a day. Tonight I had roasted chicken and steamed broccoli and felt like I tried to kill myself! I ate about 1/2 cup at what I thought was a slow enough speed and chewed like crazy, but felt like it was all going to come right back up. It finally settled down after a few minutes, but I can see that I am finally going to really have to make the chewing and slowing down much more concentrated than I have up to now! Not sure if this is the g…

I believe I'm going through bandster hell. I was banded 12/3/12 but had port revision 2/8/13 due to kink in my tubing. I'm doing ok but the hunger is unreal. I eat plenty of protein and measure and count calories but I get hungry about 2hrs every time. This has been tough and a test of self control. Is this bandster hell? My doctor won't do a fill till next week. Having 2 surgeries in 2 months he wants me to heal more.

Hi, This is probably a silly question but I'm confused, so here it is. I am in the full liquid stage of my post-op diet and for my mid-day meal I am having a protein shake. Can I drink coffee after my shake or is the shake considered like a "solid"?

I had my band (Realize, 11 cc) implanted on February 1, 2012, so a little over a year ago, which seems a bit surreal, but today I had the most exciting appointment since my initial consultation. No, it wasn't because I reached my goal (oh, I wish!!!), but because it made me excited about my band again. I had a remarkably easy surgical experience. Maybe too easy. I was home barely five hours after surgery with nothing to report but that pesky shoulder pain. My surgery was on Wednesday, and I was back at work by Monday. Since the completion of my initial healing, I've never had any negative symptoms from having the band. In fact, there have been days when I have, unfortu…

I had my 3rd fill about 2 weeks ago and I feel like something is wrong. I get terrible pains, if I had my appendix I would think that's what it was. It doesn't always happen after eating either. I woke up this morning and its already started. It happens all day even when I don't eat. Is it possible I have air in my band or something? Has anyone experienced this? It's mainly on the right side.

Going in for my 6 month post op appointment tomorrow morning. Still down 30 pounds , but I haven't lost in months:-) i gained about 5 pounds over the holidays and have lost that again. last month I got a 1cc fill for a total of 8.5 in my 11cc band. With the last fill I'm just now able to even tell that the band is there! My surgeon says he normally only fills to 9cc's:-/. I feel really close to green, but I think I am going to ask for a .5cc fill tomorrow and see if it puts me in the green! Hopefully it won't make me too tight:-)

Congrats everyone! February is over and we should all be on the banded side now. Im interested in how everyone is doing? How are your spirits? Accomplishments? Struggles? As for me, I was banded on the 5th and didn't struggle much with surgery. I had a small allergic reaction to the glue, but a little Benedryl took care of it. I'm excited because all my clothes are getting big. As far as the scale goes I'm only down 25 pounds, I know I should be trilled, 14 off it was pre-op. I just started struggling with hunger a little... I was hoping I would be one of the lucky ones who was in the green immediately... Haha. I'm struggling to chew chew chew and I know my…

Nothing with The Lap Band Surgery At All!!!! Something Else!!! 2 Corinthians 12:9 He said to me, "My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness." I'm just puttin this out there, any feed back or experiences would be greatly appreciated. I did Hcg drops in my old dieting days and did pretty well... Until I quit and went back to my old way... So just wondering, would it be so bad to try it again if one were stuck in a slow stall? After all our diets are about the same... It's just a horomone that takes energy from our stored fat as opposed to other... Hmmm what do you guys think?

I've been fairly open about having WLS, although not as open as everyone I've told has been, and I've had at least five comments before or after surgery about what I'm going to do about all the loose skin. I have been really insulted by this - I'm not even there yet, but I feel like they are essentially commenting on how big I am. My reply has always been, "I just want to look good WITH clothes on" and leave it at that, but I'm pissed off that people feel free to speculate about my future naked body and want to know my plan for dealing with the "shrinkles." Has anyone else had to deal with these comments?

Can any of you tell me "what I should feel" with the band. I am at 7cc in my 14 which I know in of no relevance cause we are all different but wanted to share. On my last trip to dr....the N. Pract. asked me all the usual questions etc and I said to her "yes I need a fill...I cant feel anything yet? She then asked me..."just what do you expect to feel?" I replied that I expect to feel something, to feel full, to not be able to eat as much...just something as I feel absolutely nothing yet since having the band. She replied to me...."this is what you are supposed to feel...nothing! What???? I mean I get the just of it and all but I want to feel something somewh…

As of today I've been a member of LBT now for 6 years. This site has been so helpful in my lapband journey especially in beginning. I have learned so much and made some wonderful friends over the years. I have a wonderful network of "Bandsters" both in Canada and the US that I chat with on the phone on a regular basis and it's also great to chat with new people that are looking into the procedure. Being part of this community keeps me motivated and on track and now as a long time "Bandster" it's nice to pay it forward and maybe help others that are starting out on this journey. I still get weighed in every month with my family doctor and I still host 3 coffee group…

I came across this on Pinterest, it's a variation from something our family has done for ages, oven roasted veggies. Sauté onions in olive oil, garlic, salt and pepper. Spread over bottom of baking dish. Arrange zucchini, tomato, onion in dish as shown in illustration. Drizzle with olive oil, salt and pepper. Bake for 20-30 min on 350. Sprinkle top with a good Parmesan such as grana padano or reggianno, return to oven for 10-15 min more, enjoy!
