I'm really working on internalizing the idea that "I could eat" is not the same thing as "I am hungry." Seems simple enough, right? I realized today that, if the above is true, then "I could eat more" does not mean "I need more." This also seems simple. If only simple things were easy!

I've had a few times when things were slow to go down, but I have been officially stuck since dinner last night (so 18 hours now). Its not miserable, but it is very uncomfortable. Trouble is, I'm with a client in rural Montana for 3 more days and getting an unfill isn't really an option unless I'm dying. It definitely feels less uncomfortable than it did last night and even early this morning. Does that mean the food is perhaps pushing through? Also, what are the odds that it will eventually push through on its own if I don't eat, but stay on liquids? I have taken a couple of papaya enzyme. Should I take more? I'm really hoping this goes away on its own. By the way, it's…

Banded 10-4-12. I'm having acid reflux every time I drink & EAT pretty much... I didn't know what symtoms were until I googled yesterday. My Dr advised me today that my fill is to tight and I need to come in ASAP to unfill my band completely and let rest. Dr said liquids til I go in. Anti Acid helps a little in meantime. Has anyone else experienced ACID REFLUX. What was your symtoms & outcome? I'm hoping band hadn't slipped.

Wife and I were just banded on Tuesday 11/6. I went first, my wife went immediately after. We are still sore and very uncomfortable. I was 320 when we went for our consult, and with changing my eating habits and a 1 week pre-op diet I was 299 on surgery day. Really looking forward to continued progress!

In Nov, I had a small fill and three days later had it removed. Then got dehydrated, it was not a fun time. I felt totally stuffed like I had just eat a whole pizza when I had nothing but Water or a Protein shake. Now I feel I need another fill but I am too scared to try again. I would like to hear from anyone who has had an unfil and then tried again. How long did you wait? How did it go when you tried to fill again? Sheri

I was banded at the end of November and have had one fill. I have done relatively well losing weight pre op but since the surgery I have kind of slumped. I'm feeling no restriction yet which makes it very easy for me to over eat and I'm having difficulties keeping it in check. Any suggestions on how to stop this behavior? I'm afraid I'm reverting back to my old binge eating ways and could use some advice!

Is there anyone who can tell me the requirements of Virginia Premier/Medicaid for the surgery? I'm talking in terms of pre-op requirements such as supervised diet and things like that. I have had two major back surgeries and my stomach is causing increased pain in my fusion area. So I am more than ready to get this done. I'm tired of living this way. I saw my pcp yesterday and he is working on the authorization and he did lab work and my EKG. He also said for me to get copies of my past medical records ASAP. So, does anyone know what has to be done for them? I'm planning on going to Radford to Dr. Bissell for the surgery. Thanks in advance.

Hey guys, I've been experimenting and came up with these delicious little bites. Ingredients: - premade wonton wrappers (you'll need more than 60!) - a package of ground turkey (1.25 pounds) - a package of cheese (2 cups) - a small can of diced jalapenos (4 oz), drained - a package of of taco seasoning (i used low sodium). Directions: 1) brown turkey meat and prepare taco meat according to the directions. 2) mix in the drained jalapenos and let the meat cool. 3) once the meat mixture has cooled, stir in the 2 cups of cheese. Now comes the tedius part. 4) place 1 teaspoon in the center of each wonton wrapper, wet the edges with Water and wrap it up to make …

I transferred from my Dr.s office due to the ineptitude of his assistant nurse. In doing so, she didn't send the proper #'s In my band to thre TR surgicenter which ultimately ended be up with a band so tight I couldnt get 2 bited of baked turkey down. Needless to say after going months (my fault) hoping that would adjust I went in, got an exray and my band had slipped a tad. Result-UNFILL from 7 to 3 in one swoop. In 2 months I put back on 12 Lbs. I could eat everything. My habits have definitely not gone away. Getting back on track. Filled to 5 now, and filling up on healthier foods. I NEED that incentive to keep me in check. Starting crossfit (anyone else do this).…

Just a quick question I was banded in November never been stuck, PB'ed, or been sick. However a few times I have the feeling of something in my throat this time I ate sweet corn and I think it maybe the skin it's just sitting there bobbing up and down as I swallow. It's been a few days I can eat and drink without difficultly. Any ideas? Anyone else had this? Is this a stuck feeling? I have no pain it's just annoying. Thank you!!!

Okay fellow bandsters, I have a question. Most of you have posted that you didn't have much pain post op and that it was not really a big deal. Are you just portraying the tough side of yourself, or was it really that easy. Because for me, it is not easy. I have 6 incisions in my belly and a couple of them hurt when I walk, sit, laugh, jiggle in any way. And the shoulder pain is a bit more than just uncomfortable. Of course I'm adding this pain to my already chronic pain stuff and my neck pain is not under control, but I'm having a harder time than I thought from reading on these boards. And I'm normally a really tough one. I had a full open me up hysterectomy wi…

Hello all, It's been 4 years since my surgery. I initially lost almost 60lbs. I am now heavier than I was because I know how to eat despite the tightness of my band. I want to start over, anyone else fall off the bandwagon this bad? I am so tired of being FAT.

So I had a doctor's appointment a few days ago. I'm officially in the 200's again. I started December 25th at 337 lbs and I was 298.7 at my doctors appointment on Tuesday. My scale finally came in the mail today which I'm happy about. Super accurate and I am 297.6 today. Only 97.6 pounds to go.

Ok, is it just me? I cannot stand the new medifast "conversations with yourself" commercials. They feature a series of different people as "before and after", but they project it differently. They feature the "before self" behaving emotionally at the success they had with medifast, and then the feature the "after self" thanking themselves for going with medifast but they are in the same room, 8 months apart and spliced together. I hate these commercials because it makes it all seem so phony. A woman standing there and talking to herself about the success she had before she even had it! And she's crying about it! Maybe I'm just jaded but it just leaves a sour taste i…

Oh my! I got stuck last night and about scared myself silly! I was banded in Sept. and have thought I was learning how to eat correctly, etc. The fill I got last week has turned everything on its ear though. I have obviously not learned enough up til now because now I am finding out what all the more experienced folks have warned about the tiny bites and slowing waaay down really mean! I ate half a baked chicken thigh last night, pretty much without thinking, because halfway through the last bite I started hurting and pb'ing. I had to spit out what was in my mouth...and for a few minutes couldn't even swallow my own secretions! I know this is TMI, but for those of you ne…

Hello I was banded Jan 22nd and have no issues an doing great. My husband was banded Tuesday and in Thursday tried to eat for the first time and started vomiting right away and he got the stuck feeling but the pain or the vomiting never went away so we called the doc and we had to go in. They said his stomach was very swollen and was making the band very tight so they took out the Fluid and have him a steroid shot to reduce the swelling and said he should feel better within a day. So we get home he gets down broth for lunch then try's a Protein shake and bam pain so he stops and It goes away. At midnight he throws up again and again along with bad reflux so we c…

I got my lap band in July 2010 since then I've lost almost 200 lbs. I've also had kidney stones, gallbladder stones, pneumonia due to which I've become acidic and delusional and I've also been having asthma problems. I binge and purge (I don't use the b word). I've gotten better since being hospitalized with pneumonia. Before I went into the hospital I was binging and purging literally 24 hours a day. Of course binging for me is no where near the same as someone else bc a sandwich or a hot dog is binging for me but I will not keep it down. People know about it some people have expressed concern but mostly it's almost like a joke. Now I only eat one or two meals a day and …

Hello, I am just starting to think about the fact that I need a food processor in order to puree my food during the "mushie" phase. Does anyone have any recommendations for a brand or model of a food processor that would be great for doing this? I don't need a big one since I will only be pureeing portions for myself. Any feedback would be appreciated!

I am almost 2 yrs post surgery. I love my band, however, recently I do not feel the restriction. I have been to the doctor for fills several times. Nothing. Two weeks ago he did a fill check. Pulled all Fluid out and then refilled it to see exactly how much I have. My level is 6.2. I can still eat. I am making bad choices. So here are a few questions. I used to feel some pain when I had a good restriction. Now I have no pain. Is this how it is suppose to be? Or do I need another feel? I miss that little pain I would get when I did not chew enough. Please help.

I beleive it is truly an evil contraption and I expect to see it pulled from the market in a few years. I think the number of patients with problems from it is higher than the 40 something %, base on the forums on the web where people talk about it. On to my story...I was banded 3 years ago. I won't bore you with all the medical probs it has caused, but during my research to find out what some of medical issues were, I came across the following shocking information-- Sometimes during the lapband surgery the vagus nerve gets damaged OR even worse some drs actually go on and wrap the Vagus nerve around the lapband in order to help curb hunger. This fact was NOT disclose…

I haven't posted here in quite a while. It's been a struggle to say the least since I had the Realize band implanted in me back in December of 2007. Surgery date weight was 282, lowest I got to was 248, I now sit close to 290. I have had so many fills and unfills they are too numerous to count. The basic problem is that, with this band, I cannot stand the sensation of food being in my throat, or pouch. I CRAVE the sensation again of having that FULL feeling in my stomach. I haven't had that in years, except when I have Soup. I have vomited, numerous times on a daily basis, for almost FIVE years now. Don't tell me I need to chew, chew, chew, or take smaller …

I been stuck at my weight (-1/+1) for the past 2 weeks and I am starting to feel really tired of it. I started a 99 challenge and have exercised the last 15/15 days. I feel better about exercising more and my body feels stronger, but no weight has dropped. I've tried raising / lowering my calories and raising / lowering my Protein to carb ratio. I've been a lot hungrier than normal (I was eating 600-800 calories a day for awhile and now I feel like I need 1000 calories or more to be satisfied). I feel like I have no restriction and am constantly hungry. I moved up my appointment to next Thursday, so hopefully I will get my first fill then. (My surgery was Dec 19, bu…

In December I had to have a revision surgery. Everything went well. (Thank goodness). After I was healed it was time to start filling up again since I was told my band was emptied for surgery. I went in last month for my first fill, doc first checked to see if there was any fluid still in my band because he stated that you can't always get ALL of the fluid out. There was 1 cc still in it, and he proceeded to put in 3 more cc's to equal a total of 4. I had another appointment today and needed a bit more since I felt I was not feeling a difference. He did the same thing and took out what fluid was in the band already to check.....only there is just 3 cc's in the band! I …
