I am 5 ft 9 and was down to almost my goal weight of 155. I was down to 165 lbs. I started to have issues of severe reflux. Not sure if it was due to stress or what but I couldn't eat and it was causing severe issues, so I had a unfill. I am now up 40 pounds since January. I feel all over digisted with myself for gaining the weight back. I go for a fill tomorrow. Will it be like it used to be or am i always going to have to watch if i get reflux? is there anything i can do to prevent the reflux? kileydisgusted that I let it go back up and I am feeling uneasy that with another

I have been traveling a lot over the past few weeks for business and this past weekend I was on the same 4 hr flight as was my bariatric surgeon and his wife of all the coincidences!! Turns out he was attending a conference with other bariatric physicians... And introduced me to his new partner whom I hadn't met. We Chatted and I asked him What one learns at a bariatric conference. He said its mostly talks and lectures learning about new procedures, current adaptations in old procedures and this year's focus was on aftercare. I told him I was so excited to hear about that because while I have no complaints with his aftercare from what I hear on this forum,....man…

It's been three years since my surgery! I've lost 170lbs. It's amazing, I don't regret it one bit! But i am struggling with keep food down. And my band is completely loose. I'll take two bites or even drink a smoothie and not be able to keep it down. I haven't told my surgeon or Drs about it. Just wondered if anyone else had the same problem. Also wondered if anyone else feels like they are forever figuring this thing out. Thanks Kristy

I was banded in 2008 in MX. I loved my dr and my band for the first few months. I had 2 fills and lost about 40lbs in like 4months. Then all of the drug wars started in MX and I didn't feel comfortable going back to get my fills. So for the next few years I maintained the weight that I lost. Last April I had an emergency appendectomy where they removed all of the fluid in my band. I gained all of the weight I lost in like 3 months. I tried to get approval from my insurance to go to a fill dr. They denied it and said I would have to start from scratch and go to all the classes and clinics and blah blah blah. So I have been super depressed and gained even more weight. I kep…

I actually ask this question as a reply to one of the post but I am really curious. Does the weight come back when they do a complete unfill or if they have to do a replacement band? Is this true even if you stay with the program, 1/2-1 cup per meal???

I was banded on February 20 and am scheduled for my first fill on April 1. I'm down 15 lbs since surgery. They told me that if I was still losing between 1-2 lbs a week I may not need the fill. They also told me that I should be eating on a salad plate so I can manage my portions. I can eat the whole salad plate and feel full and I stay full for a while but how do I know if I've had 1/2-1 cup without measuring everything on the plate. Or am I supposed to measure everything and make sure it's not over the 1 cup mark?

Hi everyone! My name is Chrissy and I hate to admit I haven't been on in a while. ( I had my surgery in September of 2012. I had lost about 20 pounds as of Christmas time but have no idea how I've done. I have had to cancel my last two appts as we've had 2 deaths in the family one month apart. My brother in law killed himself and then my grandmother died at the age of 91. I've really been struggling with my success. I'm embarrassed when people ask me how much I've lost and I answer 20 and I get a "That's it?!" I need all the help and support and motivation I can to get restarted. I have an appt with my surgeon for mid March as he's super busy. I'm anxious to get back on t…

I love sushi, but am not sure how to eat it now that I am banded (not yet filled however). Do you cut it up into little pieces or take it apart to eat it? It seems so bad to destroy a work of art!

This is my first post so go easy on me. ;-} I was banded on Dec 14th and I had my 1st fill on January 4th of 3 cc's, another on February 5th of 2cc's and the 3rd fill on the 5th of March of 1.5 cc's (total of 6.5cc's no I do not know what size my band is but felt like I was truly restricted for the first time) and everything seemed to be fine. I was back on liquids for 2 days, then soft foods for 1, and finally had my first meal Friday night. I ate my 3 oz of turkey and about a 1/4 cup of green Beans and felt satisfied so I stopped there. I was finally feeling like I might be where I needed to be. I got up Saturday and had my hot drink with my Mucinex and as happened…

There have many discussions about this and that, and there have been as many different theories and practices...... So I decided to post how I live with the band, day in and day out, and have been for over 18 months now (since hitting Green) This is not what I THINK, or what I have been told, or taught......I am simply stating how it works for me and how I get along day to day..... I should also say it has all become second nature...a new habit, lifestyle....don't really think about it all that much and there is little or no work involved. People use the term "Full"...I have never felt full ever since being banded...I experience something totally different. But for …

I just got my band yesterday morning. Spending yesterday and today trying to get rid of this hideous gas! I've been walking and taking Gas-X and it is so much better today than yesterday. Coming out of the anesthesia thus far has been the worst, but I am super excited about this journey. Not eating a whole lot right now for obvious reasons, but so far, the best thing for me has been sugar free popsicles. Have eaten a little Soup, but not a whole lot. Just wanted to share and officially declare my December Bandster membership! Anyone care to share their challeneges in the first few weeks??

LOL but they still "fit", and i cant afford to buy a whole new wardrobe. Did it take a loss of around 30# ? 40#? 50#? I'm just curious where I'm fitting w/ other Bandsters Thanks!

One of my favorite foods is almonds. I buy inexpensive roasted no salt almonds. I put about 1 tablespoon of olive oil in a large fry pan and then add the almonds and roast them on med-high heat for about 10-15 minutes. I stir them around. I keep them in plastic ware in the refrigerator. Today I decided to add about 2 tablespoons of Splenda brown sugar. They taste awesome.

I was banded 4 1/2 years ago. I did great and made it to ONEderland. Then I had some problems that are still going on with my band and have gained almost everything back. I have not had any restriction in a very long time. I am a bridesmaid in a wedding in 3 months. Going for a fill tomorrow and hoping this one is different. For the last 2 years everytime I have got a fill I end up not being able to even get liquids down after a few weeks. Then a small unfill and I have no restiction at all. It seems to only be all or none even when the fill or unfill is .25 cc. I gave up about a year ago and haven't been back for another try. Tomorrow is like a new beginning fo…

If you like flavored/sweetened coffee, I recommend trying CoffeeMate's sugar free creamers (found in the dairy section). My fave - Carmel Macchiato!! Yum. Only 15 cal. per Tablespoon. I can still enjoy my cup o' coffee without the guilt or calories!!! Any foods/items you have found to replace high calorie ones you used to enjoy?

I am on day three and feeling great. Day of surgery (Wed), the shoulder pain was the worst. Rest, Water, walking and gas x helped quite a bit. Didn't take any pain meds besides Tylenol because I would be taking a plane ride back home on Thursday, the 28th. Yep, next day. Thursday no more shoulder pain but burning incision pain. Just had to breath (which hurt) and keep moving. Plane ride was fine, only 1hour 15 min. Got home, finally took the Norco and felt much relief. Slept and rested. I am feeling so much better today - Friday, march 1, I even drove the kids to school this morning. A challenge, but I think school speed bumps helped move gas too! I have been dr…

I have noticed quite a few people posting regarding the band feeling "loose" during the night time. This apparently allows for the feeling of being hungry or eating with no restrictions. is this very common? And why at night? I was banded a little over a month ago so I am very new at this. Thanks for your help.

It has been 9 months since I have been banded and it has been a roller coaster ride for me! I went thru Bandster Hell(expected). I had fills every month staring at 6 week post op. By Aug I was at 6.5 cc. That was way to tight so I had 1/2cc taken out 1week later. I was steadily loosing weight and was quite happy with the results I was achieving! I was feeling restriction and was being satisfied with the small portions. Then horror hit in my home! (Long story short ....... Contracted roofers left backer board off the roof overnight and it rained that nigh! After all said and done ..... $60,000 worth of damage and the contractor had cancelled his ins policy 1 weeks prior…

Hello! In the process of getting the lap band currently and have been snooping around for information. I noticed that most everyone says no drinks while eating (because it allows you to eat more). What is the protocol for drinking before you eat? does it make you eat less, the same, or more? Does having a drink after you eat just make you hungry again? I have always been a big drink person during all of my meals. curious as to having drinks before or after meals and how it effects you! Thanks for your answers!! Have a great day!

Hi everyone, so I had an unfill last Thursday because I could barely keep anything down that i was eatkng. Now i realize I might not jave been used to having to chew and take small bites. Well anyways, they took out 1/4 cc. Now I feel like I have zero restriction and have gained two pounds. I have an app this Monday for a fill and I'm trying to decide if I should get The 1/4cc put back in. Any thoughts?

Just read Jim1967 blog that got me thinking...he was right to say there seems to be a lot of posts from people upset, discouraged and frustrated..... And I am going to assume the majority of these posts are from people recently banded..... I too was EXTREMELY frustrated.....I was convinced, after all the preparation and hoops I had to jump through, this was all a sham and a big waste of my time..... I wanted this WLS so bad......my insurance required me to do the 6 month medical supervised diet...My surgical center did not offer at the time so I had to enroll in a weight loss center, and go once a week for $150 a visit...out of pocket...for 3 months, then down to ever…
